I have friends where I feel like I don't care if one day we suddenly stop talking

Not a friend

Not an enemy

Just small little things that add up, micro aggressions shall we say, making the vibes weird, and unsure if I want to continue seeing them

My therapist told me it's important to name my feelings and have difficult conversations

Context is that I've been feeling hurt by my friend. My friend puts me on the backburner and flakes on me often and I think this year I was finally done. We've been friends since babies so I guess that is why I put up with it all

Anyways, my therapist told me that it's important that I tell her how I feel and keeping it all in and holding onto resentment can cause depression. But I don't know if I'm resentful, I think I kept it in for so many years that I'm just over it at this point and don't want to be friends anymore but there's no bad blood and I wish her the best yadda yadda

Is it okay to not have a conversation and ghost?

In my taxable brokerage, I have VT, VTI, VXUS, FXAIX, FZROX, FZILX. It seems like too much overlap? What do I do?

I'm really confused on what to do or if I should combine them or just contribute to one going forward...

FXAIX $20k

FZLIX $5k

FZROX $22k

VT $48k

VTI $18k

VXUS $7K

suggest me a literary fiction book that contemplates the meaning of life

i've been thinking about the meaning of life a lot more recently

i think it's simply to exist and enjoy our time on earth

and i'd love to read books that explore this

Corporate America has turned me into a robot and ruined my spark... does anyone relate?

I've always thought it was cool to live in a bunch of different countries, do a bunch of random jobs, just to have that experience of life. Now that I've paid off my student loans and have a decent rainy day fund saved up (2+ years), this is becoming more of a reality. It's just up to me whether or not to take the leap.

Perhaps it's the North American work culture and I've been brainwashed, but there's a part of me that feels guilty for doing this and that it's woo-woo. Sometimes I see myself as a robot and I need to remember that I can break free from the programming. Does anyone relate?

the meaning of life is to exist & enjoy... but it's so hard when you're tied down by a job

we barely have any time to enjoy

corporate jobs are really limiting

what realization made you finally quit and not listen to your brain, but your heart?

It's really scary because corporate job offers stability, good pay, benefits... but then your heart wants something else

Attached to my job because it’s remote

I really want to take a break and travel or teach English abroad… but I’ve just been holding onto this job for dear life because it’s remote

I don’t think I can travel & work since that caused tax issues and all. I’m technically just remote from my state

I have been at this job for 7 years and my heart says it’s time to have an adventure but my brain says no

Considering taking a career break after working 9 years in corporate... is it a bad idea?

TLDR I’ve worked various corporate jobs for the past 9 years and for the past few years I've been feeling burnt out, uninterested, bored. However, this year specifically, I've considered taking a mini retirement more seriously I'm grateful to be paid well and have good benefits. It's a cushy job. I have a decent rainy day fund (2+ years of savings because I'm super risk averse lol).

I've considered many options - taking a year off to travel, do random side quests (massage school in Thailand?), teaching English in SEA or EU, etc.

I'm leaning towards teaching English as traveling all the time can start to feel aimless etc, and I like having a routine and community

But is it a bad idea in this market?

I want to quit my 6 figure corporate job and teach English abroad...

I've been working various corporate jobs for about 9 years now and I am tired! I am really grateful to be employed and be paid decently but am also just feeling like it's time for something else while I'm still young-ish. I have a decent rainy day fund saved up

I want to take a break from work but it will hurt my heart too much to just spend and not earn money. I'm considering teaching english in the EU or SEA so I have some income coming in and just for the adventure of life in another country... thoughts? shall i just take the plunge..

32F/US - I hate my 9-5 corporate and want to move abroad while studying something new and eventually coming back

I've been working in corporate for 10 years now and I want to pursue a career change. I'm thinking of doing a masters/school abroad since it'll probably be cheaper and it would be cool to live abroad! and then eventually come back to the US

I'm considering barbering, cosmetology, cosmetic science, food science, etc... Idk what I want any suggestions?

how do you balance enjoying life but also preparing for the future?

i have a YOLO mentality but also i think about my retirement which is not promised

you never know when you'll die, why worry so much about the future?

but then you don't want your future self to be stressed, either

has anyone made a drastic life change: quit your job, let go of everything, and travel the world?

i always daydream of this but it also sounds lonely and depressing to travel alone long-term. i also dream of doing random sidequests, like muay thai school, cooking school, learning yoga in india, etcetc

but i also love the stability and money that a full time job offers

how to get out of depression?

i really hate feeling this way

my therapist told me it stems from resentment like holding onto poison and expecting the other person to die? so she said that i need to name my feelings and release it;
