Finished my first bike bags for the Unit, got new handlebars (Ergotec Riser 50 Comfort), got a Rack (BLB), got a Basket (Manivelle) and had some fun 🥰
After some not so thorough planning I tackled my first real (apart from a tiny stem bag at a workshop a year ago) MYOG project over the last week.
I started with a top tube bag, which was actually the only of the three bags that I really planned beforehand. The bottom and the sides are cushioned with a cheap 4mm yoga mat, the bottom also has some reinforcement made of a Ikea cutting mat. It's actually very stable and does not move at all while riding (already did 100km with it on Sunday). The zipper went in way smoother than expected, as it was my first time sewing one.
(Only fucked up near the end because I had the bag turned over and somehow closed the zipper and I needed to open a seam on the edge to be able to open my bag again. I might've almost cried.)
The dividers are also made with the same yoga mat cushioning, and are held in by Velcro so If I ever need to carry a baguette I can just open the space up.
The right stem bag was the second bag, and it actually went together really good if you take into account that I basically designed it basically on the go.
The left stem bag is another story tho. I basically wanted to mirror the first bag but make it a tiny bit bigger in diameter. For whatever reason it took me ages to sew the circular bottom somewhat cleanly (went way better with the first stem bag), only to find out at the end that I fucked up my right and left side of the Cordura and basically have the coated inside out 🫠
Luckily it's not noticable visually, only by touch, but I don't know if I can live with knowing it in the long term haha.
Key Learnings:
I finally know how the fckin bobbin threading works.
Sewing something on a thin layer of nylon alone sucks.
Coated Cordura is a b*tch to find out which side is which.
Binding can hide a lot of ugly work 😂
Funny enough when I went out to take these pictures, a women came asking where I got the bags from, so I guess I didn't do too bad 😅
Next up will be a basket bag but Ill have to restock some stuff first
saw this fun dino today. Pic two is at the end of the main climb, husarentempel near Vienna,Austria
Is it possible to disable that pop up in the App that wants to push the cloud backup onto you? I'm simply not interested and it pisses me off that its always popping up when opening the App. Let alone the fact that they put it in the frigging camera menu as well (Ultra)
