[Meta thread] Political Cartoons: Relevant? Worthwhile? Thoughts?

I got a mod message complaining political cartoons are dominating the sub. It's policy that /r/PropagandaPosters isn't just for posters. I even prefer posts of different mediums like radio broadcasts and leaflets and songs and videos and paintings etc.

This subreddit archives many incredible pieces but if you look at the top posts it's a lot of cartoons. I don't particularly like political cartoons, but the subreddit tolerates them for the sake of consistency and pragmatism. The exception being Carlos Latuff and Ben Garrison which are done to death and I will autoremove under rule 7) memes.

IMO political cartoons are often stale and shallow and obvious and unfunny, but because they're memeable and quick and easy to digest they get disproportionate upvotes. I'm open to a rule change but I encourage you to downvote political cartoons unless they hold significant cultural or artistic merit. Otherwise, I refer to you /r/PoliticalHumor or /r/newspapercomics or /r/editorialcartoons.

I'm curious about the subreddit's thoughts.

Edit: Thanks for the feedback, all. We're doing an experimental test of no 2020+ cartoons/comics. I appreciate some might want a more aggressive cutoff but let's start with that and observe.

Emos vs. Punks (Mexico), In March 2008, anti-emo groups (mainly punks) clashed with emos in Mexico City over perceived territory expansion. Police struggled to control the mob until Hare Krishna members invited both sides to join them in singing. (/r/wikipedia crosspost)
