thought i'd do the My 9 anime trend but with shoujosei fls, what are yours ?

i saw this trend around and i thought id do it and include a manhwa version (i made it in photoshop i dont think there's a site for this)

these aren't in any particular order and some arent necessarily my current favourite (but i do love all of them). These are just some of the first shoujosei of each medium i ever read/watched and the ones that ended up shaping my tastes in what i look for in the demographic (and beyond) these days.

trying to think of other tropes like this

Trying to think of other tropes/universe rules that fall into this category.

Idk I feel like tertiary genders or dependant relationships like this only really interest me if its there's some gender subversion at play.

I found a webnovel once where the guy was the omega and I was like "nice let's get down to business"

But then the plot was "fl is traumatised and shut off she needs to learn to lean on ml, and depend on him and ask for (usually just his not even her friends or family's ) help"

And....ig at face value its innocuous but omg u decided to do that now? I went out of my way to filter for female alphas and male omegas and u decide to pull this now?

Like I get technically its "subversive" considering what ppl expect from alphas but already when I filtered the works available went from a few hundred down to like 7.... (granted this was just one site) (so it's not like I had much options beyond this)

Whatever, a fun exercise im trying to do is making a list of universes that fall into this category. If yall can help that'd be pretty cool thanks

MY BAD FOR RECOMMENDING [TAKAHASHI FROM THE BIKESHOP]

I REACHED A CHAPTER IN TAKAHASHI FROM THE BIKE SHOP AND IT SUDDENLY STARTING SPOUTING RANDOM TRANSPHOBIC TALKING POINTS.

FORGIVE ME I SHOULD HAVE READ THE WHOLE WORK ILL BE CAREFUL NEXT TIME

edit: just copy pasting what exactly is in the comic

Basically ml lost his mom (it's not clear how yet) and his "dad" neglected him out of grief. Fl and ml are out on a date and a woman spots them and watches them for a bit.

Ml notices and turns out its his mom, who's transitioned and wanted to see who's the girl her son is dating.

But for some fucked up reason author wrote it that she transitioned to look exactly like her wife who died. Ml flips out in public and punches her in public calling her "Pops" . She says she "didn't want to look after some kid while missing out on what she likes"

Mind u fl had a similar scene with her cis-mom who actually hit fl when she said she wanted to stay from school because "I don't want to go to my work but I have to cus of u"

Fls mom was gonna live without apologising too if the dog hadn't died to bring her and fl back under the same roof again.

Anyway, portraying trans ppl as frivolous and deviant is a common thing transphobes do. But making her transition into the dead wife?? Atrocious work I had to drop immediately

about Rena from [Delicious] and all the other women in this manhwa

Just finished Delicious and I really like Rena I really do. The small bits of her personality that show up sometimes are so charming :D. I just wish the author breathed in more Josei air while writing this.

She and all the other women in this manhwa suffer from men-writing-women syndrome. Withe the exception of one(1) character (who is a fan in-love with the male lead and keeps a lock of his hair in a case), every woman in this manhwa is either a sexworker or old.

Neither are bad character traits but really, none not even one of the police or the camera crew is a woman? The only professions available to women are sexworker, or caretaker at orphanage who mistreats kids???

Anyway I love Rena regardless she has funny lines. And all the other female characters in this could be really great if a draft was ran by a woman before publishing.

Also ranning this by sb who's normal about women and relationships could have helped the scenes with Shin(ml)  and Rena actually feel more flirty/romantic.

Story was still pretty decent tho. Solid casual read.

Synopsis: Vegetarian food columnist Chaekyung Shin is a man of mysteries. He spends most days tucked away in his rundown apartment, cooking, writing, and humming to his favorite tunes. But fans can't get enough of his food—his dishes are known to tickle the taste buds with flavors that vegetables alone can't quite achieve. So, what is his secret...? Only those invited to dinner get to find out.

Let's not act like gold-digging is as bad as pedophilia please....can we atleast agree on that

From Couples Game.....

Idk I feel like this is an opinion we can all agree on. Honestly even pointing it point feels like giving this deranged take legitimacy. Like it's something "debateable"

Whatever.... can sb recommend me a mystery themed manga or manhwa. Preferably with some romance, gls too as well but not bls just cus im in a mood read about bonds formed in perilous circumstances and kind of but not really project and imagine scenarios in my head.

rewatching rgu and i just realised anthy might have knitted utena's red sweater

if u've watched the rgu anime u know how devastating ep 37 is. This scene specifically is where the most popular quotes "all girls are rose brides" and "he said i look 'very girlish' what does that mean?" come from

ep 16 and all the nanami-centerd eps are considered "filler" by alot of ppl. the do a really good job bringing out the main thesis of the show. the shadow girls this episode tell a story about about a mouse allowing a cat to eat other mice under the assumption the cat would spare it and ep 37........ i wont get into cus of spoilers

cus theres a possibility that its separate sweater she made just so utena could use it for taming cow-turned-nanami (lmao go watch the show) but if utena did keep anthy's sweater and wore it ep 37... just omg im in tears.

anyway here's an rgu synopsis pasted from a wikipedia:

Revolutionary Girl Utena follows Utena Tenjou, a teenaged girl who is drawn into a sword dueling tournament to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the "Rose Bride" who possesses the "power to revolutionize the world".

omg im in tears did anthy knit utena's red sweater?? or is it just a coincidence?? im tearing up at the possibility

cus theres a possibility that its separate sweater she made just so utena could use it for taming cow-nanami but if utena did keep anthy's sweater and wore it ep 37... just omg im in tears.

cus the shadow girls lesson in ep 16 was about a mouse allowing a cat to eat other mice under the assumption the cat would spare it and ep 37........

edit : ig it isn't the same sweater

Can sb recommend a webnovel or manhwa with a premise like [I'd Rather Marry a Memorial Tablet Than Serve as a Concubine] but the husband is actually dead?

I'm currently reading "I'd Rather Marry a Memorial Tablet Than Serve as a Concubine". I was really into it in the beginning, when the story seemed to be about fl balancing her desire to solve the mystery of the parents' death with her new responsibility to maintain the legacy of a man she barely knows.

Then they revealed the husband wasn't actually dead and he's the ml and was talking to the head maid and that's why she was loyal to fl.

And it's like, I want fl to gain the trust of the other grieving members of the household herself. How can I truly believe in these characters relationships if I know the only reason ppl listen to her is cus ml told them to y'know??

And also its like...what "authority" does she really have as head of house if her husband can pretend to be dead and ppl in her house know and feel fine not telling her

I wanted to know if sb knows of a webnovel that has a similar premise but her husband is actually dead. It doesn't have to be set in feudal China like the original. I really liked the first ~35 chapters of "A Stepmother's Marchen" just to give a sense of the energy I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a story about Fl's managing households and the friends and allies they make in the process, kind of like the netflix historical kdrama "under the queen's umbrella".

I liked the idea that the husband was really dead cus smth about the melancholy atmosphere was really nice to me. I don't mind if there's an ml, I just don't want him showing up and immediately fixing everything and taking away time from the other relationships.

This is why I feel like the story I'm looking for might be a webnovel/light novels cus there tends to be more variety in storylines there than in manhwas.

Premise of I'd Rather Marry a Memorial Tablet Than Serve as a Concubine:

Gu Qinqing has been engaged to the younger brother of the Duke's heir since childhood when she was adopted into the Gu family. Her cousin Rouying was engaged to the heir himself. When the heir is proclaimed dead in battle, Rouying, not wanting to marry a dead man and live as a widow, forms a relationship with his younger brother. The heir's brother decides to take Rouying as his wife and requests Qinqing to marry him as his concubine.

Qinqing assesses that her position as a concubine won't be stable as Rouying doesn't want that from her husband. However Qinqing believes the secret behind her parents death lies in the duke's household. Saying she wishes to honour the memory of the nation's hero, Qinqing marries the deceased heir to live in the duke's household as his widow and learn the real circumstances of her parents death.

edit: oopsssss my bad the Couple Breaker manhwa completed its story I just haven't checked webtoon specifically in a while and the fandom wiki described it as "ongoing". ig that explains how the game is complete. but still can sb tell me what the playing experience is like

Has anyone played this gossip girl dating sim?

Idk if its official but I played and I'd rate it like 6.5/10. The personalities don't feel too accurate to the show imo, but it's still a fun silly time. Has anybody else played it?

edit: wanted to add a game description from vndb.org

A dating sim set in the Gossip Girl universe. The main character is a woman who recently moved to New York and joined the Constance Billiard School for Girls. She will become acquitanced with a bunch of young men and women, with cameos of characters from the original series.

Fun concept but take this rec with a grain of salt [Surviving As The Tyrant’s Chef]

Currently reading Surviving As The Tyrant’s Chef, and ig I recommend it? I'm on chapter 47 of the comic which is the latest I could find for free but I'm on ch72 of the lightnovel which has way more chapters.

The concept is great, there's info on cooking in the comic that's pretty interesting but if ur very interested in that it's alot more detailed info in the light novel so def check that out.

The plot development so far is pretty interesting and the world and characters are engaging....

All except the King, who I'm pretty sure is the ml. I'm saying pretty sure cus I'm desperately hoping he's a redherring like in Crimson Karma but like I said the light novel goes further and....he's looking pretty endgame to me.

He's immature and irresponsible, like what do you mean there's famine and tax fraud but that's all supposed to be the fault of ur concubine "whispering in ur ear" and "manipulating you". Ur a grown ass man with a wife and a son (the light novel reveals a six year old crown prince, and maybe he's not the king's biological son but he might as well be y'know?).

Also he has a lawfully wedded queen who may or may not be that crown Prince's mom (who is a nice lady and not even evil, even though that's irrelevant what matters is that they're married). And I get that marriage is different in this setting, but BE fr would any FL let this fly if they were in the queen's position?

Anyway the concubine's fixation on fl is pretty fun to watch I'm having a blast crackshipping them.

Honestly this story is entertaining especially if u kind of ignore the king and only consider him as the guy that shows up to be amazed at fl's food and help her "level up" basically.

Basic synopsis:

After winning a prestigious culinary award for her french-korean fusion cuisine, chef Ji-young receives news that her father's health suddenly took a turn for the worse. While rushing to see him, she serves off of a bridge in a storm, falling into a river. She crawls out onto the shore, only to find herself back in time in a Joseon-era village. Known as "the demon woman who crawled out of the water", Ji-young finds herself in a series of events somehow end up with her having to prepare innovative dishes for the "mad king" known for his fiery temper and unsatisfiable palate. With the end goal of finding a mysterious cookbook of historical recipes she believes could be a clue to how she got here, Ji-young works to find a place for herself and survive in this unfamiliar era

How often are cats "supposed" to cough up hair balls

I've had 5 cats my entire life. 4 siblings we got from my mom's friend as a kid that I left with parents and my current cat I adopted in November.

I realised that I've never seen any of our cats cough up hairballs ever. They're all indoor cats. Back then we let the siblings have supervised time outside (I have 5 sisters so we were able to keep track of them) and do the same with my current cat so its not like they'd do it where i cant see.

I clean regularly and thoroughly and I'll find a ton of cat hair but never a hairball and I live alone so no one else could be finding them.

None of our cats have long hair and l'm not sure about breeds cus the siblings were the children of my mom's friend's farm cat and she told us their cat just showed up one day already pregnant. My current cat was from another of my mom's friends who found her but couldn't keep her.

She licks herself clean a normal amount and the siblings did too so I guess that shows the hairballs exist. I've asked my mom and my sisters and they hadn't seen hairballs from the siblings but she worked alot and maybe we just don't remember. I keep imagining that I'll discover some cranny in my house with a mountain of hairballs one day, so I wanted to know how often hairballs happen for other people and if this is something I should be concerned about

I can't remember the title of this manga but I kept images I liked

So I don't remember the plot exactly but fl had a childhood friend(it might have been unrequited love) or first-love of some sort she hadn't seen in some time ("akito" might be the guy in question)

I think the dark haired character ran a salon or a boutique? And I this might be me confusing this manga for another but I think she had a poodle or another elegant dog.

I kept these two images cus I liked how they looked. Fl and the dark haired character weren't close friends but I think I shipped them cus I liked their interactions.

Damn mangadex requires an account now

Bato was the only site id consider worth making an account for. Mangadex on the other hand really isnt, especially considering that it's catalog is smaller than bato and its tag system isn't nearly as thorough.

conspiracy theory: after p1, the purpose of the liiks wasnt to cheat, but to make other ppl spread them online cus ppl thought they'd get a retake for their paper

im sure that earlier on, business studies and math p1 were liiked to cheat. but im starting to think after cambridge reacted and ppl realised they could get a postponed paper, ppl started liiking left and right and *spreading* cus they thought they could make it happen again for their subject.

but there's a miscalculation there, cambridge only really cares about the "integrity" of MATH papers (specifically the pure papers), they're closed minded like that. so p1 and p3 will be retaken but anything else (like stats or cs etc) will be ignored or use assessed marks

am i really about to have p1 on 9th and p3 on 8th AND assessed stats just cos yall could keep ur leiks to urselves

literally i if a few tens of ppl on a discord paid for a paper how is that ur problem. if i came across liiks id report them to the mods, report to reddit/discord for a fake reason, downvote, block and MOVE ON.

but if i were someone who felt unprepared and was sure id fail, id make post after post spreading it, send reports to cambridge on multiple burner emails, tell all my friends and shout that i was "devastated" even though im actually secretly relieved cus i know i probably bombed that paper.

im retaking as with my alevels so i was already gonna be here till 3rd so in comparison i have it "good". but i have classmates whose summer started on 18th. they cleaned out their lockers (probs trashed their notes already), and we wished them well. but now cus of yall they have a surprise paper on 8th. i have classmates that do math and econ, that means cus of yall they have 2 papers on 8 and ANOTHER on 9th.

you should save ur energy, cambridge wont give u a retake. the exam season cant be postponed infinitely. ppl with offers need results by 11th august, so cambridge cant keep repeating exams.

is there a way to hide the games from the netflix homepage

I just got netflix and I wanted to ask if there's anywhere in the settings I could go to hide the game suggestions from my homepage. I'm not interested in them and they just give me more unnecessary rows to scroll through and I sometimes accidentally click some so I'm worried I might be sending the message that I want this. Any help?

Lukewarm take (imo): zuko's redemption arc wasn't that good

This isn't really a bash of zuko himself just a criticism of the lowkey mediocre and uninspired ideas of the showrunners of what "redemption" is all about.

Cus like, zuko didn't stop chasing aang and desert the fire nation out of remorse and empathy for the other civilisations. Yeah he's helping the gaang and wants to prove he's "changed" but ultimately the the MAIN reason he left is because he didn't define his self worth around his father's acceptance anymore.

It's because he understood that azula would never respect him as a person , that he left her at last, not meaningful realisation of the harm he and his family did to the world.

It's cool he accepts himself, self actualisation is important. But he did that for his own peace of mind, not out of compassion for the other nations. When he saves katara, he does it out of the personal connection and fondness he has for her.

Hs activities as the blue spirit are to sabotage the chain of supplies of the ba sing se government, but not out of rebellion against their tyranny, but because ba sing se is the fire nation (and at that time, azula's) pride and most ambitious project. It weakens his father's imperial resources and control, but narratively (and therefore most importantly) its the first time he goes against the imperial family he tried so hard find meaning in, anything else is only slightly more than a happy accident.

How can you say u care about saving people from tyrannical rule of an emperor and then take the seat to keep that family name running? Idk if it were my show the ultimate way to symbolise truly severing ties with inherent, hierarchy and power-hungry nature of firenation nobility is to end that family line and live the rest of ur life with his mother's name. THEN if he married katara it would have 1000× times more.

If he stays and takes the throne then it shows the problem and his solution was to be the guy in charge instead of stopping the whole thing.

But honestly u can tell that traits and lessons the showrunners prize esp in their male characters so idk maybe it's not something that needs too much conversation

hot take: idrc if papers are l33ked anymore

i just got out of stats and im seeing posts that ppl had b4 the paper. but like man do we really have to go thru this so many times? im retaking as level maths with my alevels so ive been sitting all of them and im really proud of my improvement i even feel more confident than last time.

but then im told 12 will have to be retaken in june, cus of l33ks and.. i just dont want to be in highschool anymore. last year i failed cus i had major depression and my home life wasnt so good, i hated coming to school cus it meant seeing everybody else leaving me behind. i spent all my free time alone or asleep i didnt know what day of the week it was most times. when as came around i kind of just let the inevitable wash over me, i wasnt even phased when i failed. i was gulity about making my parents pay registration costs and i knew i had to have something to show i wasnt completely useless.

these exams have been going smoothly im retaking everything not just math so ive had 4 as and alevel subjects to prep for. im satisfied with how these papers have felt so far and honestly im too unconcerned over a few cheaters to risk retaking and retaking and retaking. im tired. it took so much gruelling to get predicted grades worthy of an application in time for the jan 14th ucas deadline, and im just relieved that ive got a few offers so i know im not doing all this for nothing.

i know its my own problem and responsibility if im retaking and u have no obligation to consider cases like mine. but really, will a few tens of losers in a discord raise the thresholds that much? cus if we dont give them a platform, their reach wont spread. do you really think ull be fresh and alert enough to do papers again in june? can u really say with 100% certainty you can get the same mark or better than what u might have now? anyway thats just my opinion
