I picked up a 2011 Tamiya Avante for a reasonable price locally. It was brand new in box with shrink wrapping on the outside. On the front, there are three stickers, one is included ESC, second is for Bonus Parts, third is for buying Tamiya pop-ups. So much for having a clean box for display.

I took the kit home and went back to work. After a long day and finally getting a few minutes, I opened it with an uneasy feeling I was being scammed.

Opening the box was anxious but exciting. My first OG Tamiya with blister packaging! I was not scammed! 2 items struck me as odd. The motor was loose in the box and the yellow rims were not stock as shown in box art with the iconic center nut lock system. Further examination showed the right box lid was not taped. Panic set in that the seller had tampered with the items inside and resealed the box. Deflated, I stared to put the items back into the box and noticed again the sticker on the front saying “Bonus Parts”. I quickly used a utility knife to open the left box (it was secured with tape) and found the correct wheels and tires.

Hurray!

All parts are accounted for. Thr Yellow DF-03 rims are the bonus parts. The blister packaging plastic holding the motor cracked but it is not end of the world. The box has horrible stickers applied and it is not sealed but I plan on building this kit, not flipping it. This will be one of the few kits I build to box art.

I finally have a new unbuilt OG Avante :)

I noticed a new product, 3akerpro Fox 3D scanner. Suppose to be a Moose Lite with aplastic case and lower accuracy (0.07 vs 0.05mm).

Anyone know if this is a good scanner, software and company? Entry level price is reasonable and suitable for my needs.

Thanks in advance 🤗
