How far into the weeds do you folks get when building a grimoire?

I just got a real nice dotted journal which I figured would be great for sigils. Of course to have a wider base of knowledge to work with, I figured I should write down a couple different alphabets of the world. However, to make sure my notes on the sounds represented by the letters were accurate, I figured I should learn the International Phoenetic Alphabet first. And to have an adequate idea of the background of the alphabets I might use, I have to start out with the history of writing in civilization, and the origin of the first alphabet as adapted from hieroglyphics. So now I'm 8 or so pages into my grimoire and it's all historical notes. I'm having an amazing time though.

There's no such thing as making a mistake in art.

family sitting nearby in the restaurant

daughter is coloring the kids menu

Mom: There's no such thing as making a mistake in art.

Dad: You can always color over it if you need to. That's the beauty of colors.

Thankfully this one burned itself right out

When I left for work this morning, these bushes were intact. This fire was so small it never even showed up on Watch Duty, which made it a horrid surprise to drive home past. (West Hills)

[TOMT] [short story] [teen] A short story about a girl who swallows a cherry pit that contains a dragonlike spirit that protects her at a party?

This is a coming of age short story about a girl who is in 8th or 9th grade (?) and dealing with puberty. At one point she swallows a cherry pit and is warned with many superstitions, that it will hurt her, or that it will grow. The cherry pit grows into a sort of fiery dragon spirit inside her.

Later, she goes to a party with her classmates and plays Seven Minutes in Heaven. She's shut in a closet with an attractive boy, but he quickly gets too touchy and crosses her boundaries. She coughs up the cherry pit and the dragon spirit protects her. Leaving the party, she chooses to swallow it again.

This short story was in my middle school language arts textbook and I remember being shocked when I found it. I didn't have a very good language arts class that year and I was surprised to find such a good story dealing with puberty and sexual abuse. We never studied it in class though.

I have made a grave miscalculation

I've never done this before, but I bought a couple diamond art kits to make coasters for my home, and they were extremely fun and satisfying to work on and they look great. So I thought maybe I should do a bigger one to put up on my walls. I wasn't really feeling any designs until I learned that DAC had licensed some art by Myles Pinkney, who is one of my favorite artists. They are all out of production so I had to search and I was really excited when I found one of The Alchemist.

But I was in such a hurry that I didn't read the dimensions right and I thought it was 27x41 cm. So uh. yeah. I have this now.

My partner just proposed to me with this beautiful engagement ring. 14K gold band + onion cut lab emerald + lab diamonds. of course I said yes because I love him very much.

It is so, so shiny and pretty, but it's also pretty large/tall and gets caught on things easily. I don't think I'll wear it often, except for date nights, but it's too pretty to be tucked away in a drawer. I was thinking about trying to put it in a shadowbox or a decorative glass case? Has anyone ever seen something like that?

posted this in r/engagementrings first but it got removed for being off topic (??) so hopefully this is a better place
