The guy who intervened in the Idaho mass shooting made a video talking about it
Sorry if this has been posted already. I tried to search the subreddit but couldn't find it posted already.

Just wanted to post this as I know we've been talking a lot about the shooting in Idaho where an armed civilian intervened and saved lives. I just wanted to make sure I spread awareness regarding gofundme scams and how low some people can get regarding taking advantage of other peoples' misery. I have seen one real gofundme and about 10 fakes. I am not going to share the real one, im sure you can google it and find it yourself. I just don't want to upset the mods as Im sure it wouldn't look good if i made this post then shared a random link.
Just wanted to remind everyone to double check everything. Especially when it comes to sending money. And if something seems fishy: double check, triple check, or more. And if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Kinda inspired by another post but I also wanted to see who you were hoping could be on unsub.
For me:
https://www.tiktok.com/@txdispatchernisha 911 Dispatcher in Texas. would be cool to see a 911 dispatcher on instead of just police/fire/ems. It would definitely provide a unique viewpoint compared to what we're heard on the podcast before regarding emergency services
https://www.tiktok.com/@Phys.liz ( holds a PhD in astrophysics. she has a rare connective tissue disease that makes her organs literally "fall out of her ass" (her words not mine). Definitely would be hard to arrange given her medical considerations but she has a rare disease and definitely deserves more air time for how positive she is despite having a terminal illness
https://www.tiktok.com/@americana.pipedream/video/7650628333209767181 Americana Pipedream CEO. I think his humor would mesh well with the guys and he has a company that sells military surplus. would be pretty neat
I only know a few (i think) and was looking to catch up on some unsub/underwhelming/KC because i haven't watched them in a bit and the latest KC reminded me of the running bit AC does of "Hi richard hy First time caller long time listener" and of course you have "community" (Drink)
What are your favorites? I might be forgetting some
This post isn't inherently podcast related other than I love the Unsub gang but. I thought i'd post this here just cuz I know y'all are the type of people to appreciate advice like this.
Be careful what tattoos you get lol. I have a tattoo on my wrist.
To make a long story short, I interviewed at a prison to be a food service employee to be a non-inmate manager of the inmates cooking food. And on my wrist, i have said tattoo. I got invited to the second round interview but the last question they asked was "so hey I see that tattoo on your wrist. Is that a gang tattoo???" It is not. I explained its a norse symbol (and the meaning behind the tattoo) and they were like "Oh Ok" but. Definitely just. Was a sobering reality that in some careers (such as LEO, Corrections, etc.) Visible Tattoos are a huge part of the hiring process and if the tattoos you have are even slightly questionable, you won't make it far in the hiring process.
TW: topics regarding Suicide.
A continuation of this comment thread
I see a lot of people thinking Howard was a huge asshole or that Howard was to blame for Chuck's suicide or that he Could've stopped Chuck from killing himself. I want to tell you why I believe, even though this is a TV show, Chuck's storyline would've ended the same way whether or not what happened in S3 happened
I am a former firefighter/EMT. I also personally know people who have killed themselves. I just add that for context because I've seen these situations first hand.
When someone truly wants to kill themselves, there is very little that anyone can do to stop them. You can "get them help" all you want, but the second they have the means and motivation to, they're going to do it. Unfortunately that's just the way it is. I think BCS portrayed that pretty clearly. The whole "Yes Jimmy. I'm doing better. Don't worry about me" spiel is what I have seen time and time again through my work and my personal life. People say they're getting better to stop people from worrying, then they do it. The writers definitely knew what they were doing when they wrote with Jimmy and Chuck's last scene in season 3. They did their research.
My main point of this post though, was that Howard was only trying to help Chuck. I think he saw through this. I think the writers were trying to write a character that saw through the facade and knew something was wrong. The problem is that Chuck's character was too hell-bent on screwing over Jimmy and the insurance company to accept his help. Especially after the bar hearing, Chuck was livid. He knew he fucked up but didn't want to accept it. He wanted to litigate everyone to hell before accepting defeat.
For more context/more of my views, I linked a comment in the first sentence of this post from a thread in this subreddit where I explained my views a bit more.
As brilliant and as careful of a man as Gus is, something that kinda annoyed me was the location of the laundry and Lalo interrogating the guy about it in season 6. Something I was wondering was: Gus had fears that someone might talk. Especially after Ziegler went AWOL. So why didn't he instruct the men on telling a disinformation story instead of the real story if someone ever confronts them.
Or maybe getting back in touch with them after they know Lalo is alive after the failed hit and threatening them to tell any interested parties alternate information instead of "The laundry is where the lab is being built"
I get it. its a TV show. Plot development. But. Idk this kinda never sat right with me on my current rewatch. Gus is supposedly much more careful and reserved than this. He should've seen this coming a mile away.
Hey all. My friend was in prison for the past 11 years and just got out. I was wondering if anyone knew of any jobs/apartments that didn't look down on felony convictions. If necessary to know it was for Assault and battery.
He has since found remorse for his actions and is looking to rebuild his life but is having trouble finding a job or apartment that will cater to felons. Thanks in advance.
I know Eli lurks here sometimes so i thought I'd put this here just in case it could work out but.
I think her sense of humor would mesh well with the gang. and Not to mention she has a pretty rare disease and her being able to share her story to more people I think would be pretty cool.
Would probably be difficult to arrange considering her medical considerations but. She definitely seems like someone who would be a great guest for the podcast.
https://www.tiktok.com/@Phys.liz
She's also a PhD student while going through her whole journey which is incredibly inspiring
For me its a tie between the something stupid and the 50 off montage. The 50 off one is hilarious but. The something stupid one really helps the story come along and It's fun. (Not to mention i love the song)
Just finished a rewatch and was wondering what everyone's thoughts were about all the montages in the series.
What are your guys’ thoughts on a possible move to require residential houses to have sprinkler systems?
Personally I think it would be great and would save a lot of lives. But I’m wondering what your guys’ thoughts are
Edit: instead of downvoting me you can tell me your opinion. We can have a civil discussion without you removing fake internet points from me. Reddit karma means nothing to me. You’re not hurting me lol. You’re just showing me that you’re a grown adult who’s incapable of forming a coherent argument
This is somewhat a biased opinion because I was a firefighter and worked alongside police officers while working.
But beyond the “on the job” moments of the show, yes it’s a sitcom. And I’ve seen a lot of opinions on this sub over the past week or so saying “eh I don’t want to watch it. I don’t like sitcoms” or similar sentiments.
But. It’s so much more than that if I’m being completely honest. Yes. It is a sitcom by definition. But it *really* does not feel like one. There are some INCREDIBLY deep and complex interactions that happen within the show. Especially in the later seasons that make you forget you’re watching a sitcom about detectives in the NYPD. You feel like you’re watching a drama series about NYPD detectives growing and maturing.
This show also perfectly encapsulates the “on the job banter” that happens while working in any of the first responder roles. This isn’t a major spoiler (it was just a cold open that has no plot relevance). But. There’s a scene where detective Boyle is implying he arrested a 60 something year old woman but it was actually revealed he had sex with her and wasn’t a police related interaction. That scene made me laugh incredibly hard and then made me sad because it reminded me about the late night convos I’d had while in the fire service at the dinner table.
All in all. Give the show a chance even if you think a sitcom isn’t for you. Brooklyn 99 isn’t a sitcom. It’s a comedy drama that got marketed as a sitcom.
I promised no spoilers so I really feel I shouldn’t elaborate much more. You just have to trust me. The first season isn’t as deep into the drama as 2-8 but. The benefit is that they’re only 21-23 minute episodes.
I made a Google form which is a short survey. I don't collect any personal information (you can fill out the form in Incognito mode if you so choose). I do ask age range but that question is optional if you don't wish to provide that info. I am doing a research project for a college class regarding people's perception to AI generated content. If this isn't allowed to be posted here, I apologize and will remove the post.
Moreso a sitcom that doesn't feel like a sitcom and devotes more time to drama. I'm also excluding shows with a laugh track because for me the laugh track ruins the immersion. if that even makes sense.
I am looking for a comedy drama similar to Brooklyn nine nine.
I love the unsub crew, and this is the only subreddit of genuine people I know of who won't just give me some doomer slop for advice. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I totally get it if it gets removed.
I could really use some advice.
I'm currently interviewing for a store manager position at a grocery store. I had my first interview, and apparently I did well enough to make it to the second round. The district manager is supposed to call me Monday to schedule an interview with the regional manager.
I have management experience from another company, so I'm not going into this completely blind. The job would also be a pretty big financial step up for me, so it's an opportunity I really don't want to screw up.
I'm scared about fucking up the interview
For those of you who've been store managers, district managers, regional managers, or have interviewed for leadership positions, what should I expect? What kinds of questions are they going to ask? What separates the people who get hired from the people who don't?
And is there anything that immediately makes you think, "Yeah, this candidate isn't ready"?
I've been preparing as much as I can, but I'd really appreciate hearing from people who've actually been on the other side of the interview table.

6 months and they can't fix a fundamental feature. Too busy sucking off investors?
Long shot, but I figured there might be a few dispatchers in this community (drink)
I have an interview tomorrow for a 911 Dispatcher position with my town's PD (they called me just now to schedule the interview. very short notice lol). I have a background in customer service, and some prior firefighting experience, but I'm not really sure what the dispatcher hiring process is like.
For those of you in the field, what should I expect during the interview and selection process? I was wondering how I should prepare for the interview. Thanks in advance.
I have been trying to save money lately because I had the bad habit of eating out constantly which is kinda the point they were trying to make in the latest let him cook. But. Today I decided to start trying to cook for myself. And yeah. Even in today's economy, I bought a weeks worth of food for $22. (and some change)
A whole cooked chicken from the deli
Bag of long grain rice, a 6 pack of eggs, 2 bags of frozen peas/carrots, 2 cans of beans (to make rice and beans),
a can of soup
a 12 pack of ramen
all that for $22 and like 40 cents.
Sorry if im beating the dead horse at this point (and sorry if this is the wrong place to post this) but damn dude. Im ashamed that I had been wasting so much money all this time
Hi everyone,
I honestly never even thought to look for a clubfoot community on Reddit until today, and it suddenly occurred to me that there might actually be a subreddit for it. So here I am.
I was born with unilateral clubfoot affecting my right foot. I had an Achilles tendon repair surgery when I was around 1-2 months old and, overall, I think I had excellent care growing up.
When I was around 12-13 years old, my orthopedic specialist noticed that my left leg was growing longer than my right. He was concerned that the leg length discrepancy could cause problems later in life, so he recommended a procedure to slow the growth of my left leg. Two pins were placed through my left knee growth plate, and thankfully it worked very well.
I'm now 24 and haven't seen an orthopedic specialist since I was around 14. I also moved away from the area where I grew up, and most doctors I've seen since then don't seem to have much experience with clubfoot.
Lately I've been thinking more about it because I'm getting older and realizing I probably don't know as much about the long-term effects as I should. I wanted to ask others here: is foot pain after being on your feet for extended periods common, even in adulthood? I'm slightly overweight, which I'm sure doesn't help, but after long days standing or walking my right foot can become pretty uncomfortable and I end up limping on my right foot because of how bad it hurts. Sometimes I wonder if that's just part of living with clubfoot or if it's a sign that I should get evaluated by a specialist again.
I'd love to hear about other people's experiences. Thanks in advance
