struggling with doxycycline upset stomach

TW: vomiting

I’m on my 4th day (out of 7) for doxycycline (followed by moxifloxacin for 7) and I’m suddenly struggling to not vomit after taking it. I also think I’ve been dealing with a cold or flu after being around a sick family member but the symptoms: sore throat, cough, headache, fatigue, nausea also started the day after starting doxycycline. (Didn’t get a chance to ask doc if these could be side effects of the med because they kind of just hung up on me) This morning I had my first dose after chicken noodle soup, vomited horribly 30 minutes after taking it. Because of this I just had white toast for dinner, and later a banana with my second dose. 2 hours later, no nausea, started feeling hungry and confident that I could keep more down but I just decided to lay down for bed. After laying down, again 2 hours later after my dose, it hit me and I threw up my banana! Literally just a banana. I’m so upset because I really just want to finish these antibiotics, hopefully get clear and never have to call back the urgent care place that tested me, they were super dismissive and weren’t very helpful when I asked about things such as vomiting and future testing to make sure I’m clear, they just said it’s “up to me” and like I said hung up before I could ask more questions. (I plan to go to my primary care provider instead for a follow up test)

Urgent care at least said to call them back if I continue vomiting, i’m going to see how tomorrow goes but any chance the vomiting is worth pushing through as long as it‘s delayed after taking my dose like it was tonight? I saw some helpful tips on here but I have a big week of classes ahead of me and not sure if it would be the best idea-as much as I want to. I think my cold/flu might be making the nausea worse but i’m staring to feel better with all that. If I call them back, what’s the treatment/medication that they will likely put me on instead? Will it be as effective as doxy? Thanks for the help :)

TLDR: vomiting on doxy even after eating. what would my doctor give me instead?

Feeling extra disgusted by men and society’s treatment of women while on my period?

I’m wondering if anyone else experiences these feelings while on their period, if it’s normal, and if anyone knows why it happens. Because I also recently started a new SNRI but I don’t think it’s that since it’s been working fine. I’m on birth control so I technically do not have a *real* period, and my ”periods” are usually super mellow and only last a weekend, but this weekend has me beat.

I already don’t have much faith in men, besides my boyfriend, but right now it’s like 10x worse. For these reasons I take regular breaks from social media and have been these past few days, it usually helps but it’s not right now and I think it’s my period/hormones intensifying everything? I’m feeling disgusted and irritated, by my own boyfriend too, whom I love and a couple days ago I was feeling the exact opposite of this towards him. I feel like he’s going to betray me for some reason even though he’s done nothing to make me think that. I can’t stop feeling emotional and crying. Then I can’t stop thinking about all the hate towards women in the world… idk maybe the doomists are getting to me. It’s almost cool because I feel like I’m connected to women universally with these feelings… but they suck.

[Measurement Check] and [Fit Check] Currently wearing 34D/DD but calculator suggested 34H, is this right?

I (20 AFAB) have worn VS bras my whole life. The last time they measured me at 34D. Most of my bras are that size. I am wearing a 34DD from VS in the picture. After being fed up with them I found this subreddit and used the calculator. I know VS bras are not recommended but I am using it as a reference because I think 34H might be too big of a size. I saw the 34FF (UK equivalent size) under the "What Bra Sizes Look Like" link and it looks maybe like a cup bigger than me so I was wondering if anyone suggests a smaller size or if I really should just go ahead with the 34H? I might just be in denial because I have to get rid of all my bras now :(

Problems with this bra: I do have spillage in this bra but at the same time there is a gap at the top where the cup meets the strap and its very uncomfortable in my armpit. I don't see a bigger cup fixing that. The underwire also digs into my stomach when sitting down and the center gore does not really stay flush against my body. The band also feels a bit tight. Sorry if one photo is not very helpful.

I would love recommendations for an everyday supportive bra but I can't afford to order one online right now, so I think I'm going to start at Nordstrom Rack as I saw a comment that recommended them.

Measurements:

34

33.5

32

40.75

43

40

Shape: closest to 2/6 "full bottom"

I'm center full with a broad root and (I think) a tall root.

Thank you!

I finally got assaulted as a young female driver

So I’m quickly posting before I go uber because I honestly need some support and want to spread some awareness, but the story will not be super detailed. This happened on Saturday night.

I was delivering to some apartments in my own neighborhood, it was like 10 pm I think, it was a “meet at door” and the customer didn’t provide the apartment #, so I just texted them and let them know I was waiting at the building. There’s a drunk guy up the stairs who eventually starts talking to me as I wait. I try to see if he recognizes the name on the delivery but he wasn’t much help, and he just rambled on about his 25 yr old daughter who mind you is older than me. I didn’t perceive him as a threat. I basically wait the full 7 minutes that uber gives you and finally the customer opens the door upstairs, I give them their food.

The drunk guy follows me back to my car. He said he was just “making sure I got to it safely.” Unfortunately my flight or fight response was to just be as nice as possible. This guy is like over 200 lbs. As I’m trying to get into my car he strokes my hair and grabs my chin and asks for a kiss. I say no and am able to get into my car and he’s clearly irritated and just says “bye! bye!” I honestly wasn’t that upset until it hit me what happened. I’ve been SA before as a teenager and it just brought me back to that time in my life. This shouldn’t be happening to any women of any age no matter if it’s a small interaction or a big one.

I took a break from uber yesterday to reset, but as I’m about to go out again I’m thinking about what’s the best way to stay safe. I used to carry around pepper spray so I will probably start doing that again, and maybe wait for customers in my car. It sucks that I was put into a potentially dangerous situation for a $1 tip😭 and I didn’t even bother to contact Uber because what are they gonna do?

do skinny women want to gain weight or just be considered more feminine? or both?

TW: skinnytok, body image, sexualization

Okay so hear me out for a second. While I think we are/were making steps toward body positivity and inclusivity, I have recently seen a lot of “skinnytok” posts, these are posts promoting or praising skinny women while also being fatphobic, mainly on tiktok but Instagram too because I’m not on tiktok. In addition to this I see a lot of skinny women talking about their struggles, like being told to eat more or that they need to be more curvy, which is 100% something that they go through as I see this and I also experienced this firsthand when I went through an underweight period.

But I just can not for the life of me see the struggle between skinny women and plus size women as equal? Like one is not easier to go through than another, but they are just not equal struggles? A lot of skinny women aren’t able to grasp this idea. I get it, our opinions are based on what we go through personally, but as someone who would be considered in the middle, and probably on the skinnier side, I think plus size women experience a systemic struggle while skinny women do not. I don’t want to generalize, but skinny women who are not comfortable in their body don’t want to just gain weight, they want to gain CURVES because then they would be considered more feminine since the female body is so sexualized, they want- for lack of a better word- assets. Granted for this to happen, you need to gain weight/muscle. But this issue is not unique to skinny women. Women across all sizes feel the need to have more “shape” or a better bust/butt because sadly that’s considered more feminine. Plus size women who are not comfortable in their body experience this struggle, but ON TOP of that they are told to lose weight, lose fat, eat less, doctors don’t take health issues seriously, etc. I just feel like society/social media keeps reverting back to skinny. The recent Victoria Secret angel tryouts? All skinny women.

If I lost you, all women are struggling, all women are sexualized, and we should all stop having unrealistic expectations for our bodies. It’s easier said than done, but I am SO much happier just accepting my body at its natural state. Accept that your body cannot healthily exist past its limits. I don’t care if I lose weight, I don’t care if I gain weight, I love my belly pooch, and I don’t have a “body goal” in mind. I only go to the gym for the mental health and physical strength.

Also don’t get me started on the hate muscular women get😭 or PREGNANT/POSTPARTUM bodies. People will literally never be completely happy with a woman’s body.

I would love to hear opinions, and if anyone knows how to include trans women into this conversation please do because I feel like they’re specifically apart of this but I’m not sure how!

Edit: I don’t see wanting to gain weight as wanting to gain strength if that makes sense. It’s totally reasonable to want to be able to lift more when you struggle to.

Does this sound like a Hypomanic episode?

Hello (19F), first time here and am looking for support/opinions after experiencing something a bit scary today. To start off I was diagnosed with anxiety and MDD at 14. I started a new antidepressant in September with a new primary care doctor. She upped my dosage to 20mg in January and I started therapy again in March. My therapist suggested I visit my doctor again because the Lexapro doesn’t seem to be helping with my depression, if anything it’s worse. I agree with her because I realized I’ve been having very severe feelings of depression and suicidal thoughts, almost like “depression attacks” that can last anywhere from a day to almost a week. These feelings eventually are minimized, but never really gone, and I feel better for a couple weeks before they come back. I always just thought these were mood swings or “normal” depression symptoms but after some research I’m concerned I could've been experiencing hypomania today?

Right now I feel like I’m in my depressive state, and I actually was on my way to my doctors when someone didn’t let me merge on the road and then (violently) honked at me for like a minute straight 🙂. This made me feel so aggressive and irritated that I threw stuff at their car (to no avail because I have no aim) but I NEVER have done this before because I hate littering and am usually able to control myself on the road. I also felt so done that I considered crashing into them or getting out and keying/attacking their car. I sobbed all the way to the doctors and then found out my appointment is next week!! I honestly felt clinically insane after and decided to do some googling since I’ll have to wait to speak to my doctor.

Back to my concerns though, this isn’t the first time where I’ve had an intrusive thought and felt like crashing my car as a means to an end. Could I have been experiencing a depressive state and hypomania at the same time? I’ve always felt like there’s something going on with me besides depression and anxiety, but I haven’t seriously considered bipolar disorder because my ”hypomania episodes” don’t feel very distinct? I feel like a zombie but with horrible mood swings. I usually have periods of feeling better but I‘m still not very productive or energetic, sometimes I feel like trying new things, or tipping someone, or going shopping. I try to save money but I’ve never been good at it because of this. As for other symptoms I’ve been reckless, impulsive, and promiscuous in the past, but not really recently, except for impulsively quitting a job last week. This could be explained by the fact that I now have a boyfriend + I moved states and don’t really hang out with anyone or leave my house much.

But maybe it’s just depression. A reaction to medication? I‘ve also been on birth control since September maybe it gave me PMDD? I will of course be discussing this at my actual doctor‘s appointment but I’m worried I won’t be taken seriously😭 anyways thank you so much for listening to my rant.

Edit: I should probably mention I have never visited a psychiatrist.
