Sunday Physique/Advice

Mostly lurking, but thought id use today to post physique and ask for any suggestions on where to go from here. 5'9, 180lb been lifting for about ~5 years. Kinda h*brid athl*te style, but thats a combination of training adhd and being in a garage gym without specialized bodybuilding equipment. So I alternate powerlifting blocks with kettlebell conditioning, and kettlebell blocks with 1-2 days per week dedicated to squat and bench.

OHP 1rm is 165, bench is 270, squat is 330, deadlift is embarrassing. Diet is garbage (3k ish maintenance so I can get away with it). Body dysmorphia is a constant. Ive got a kid on the way so like 5 months to really lock in and make gains before circumstances make progress much more difficult.

Chill Friday

Been a minute since Ive dropped a fit pic. Mostly bc I've just been wearing the same few pieces in rotation- a capsule wardrobe within my larger wardrobe if you will.

Up top today is one of my favorite thrift finds, a red head shirt in super lightweight ripstop. This is from either Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops house brand (i cant remember which) and has since been discontinued.

The jeans are the 3sixteen RS ive been living in for the past few weeks. Nothing much to say here- i jumped on the recent restock as this is probably my favorite cut in the selvedge space rn. I cant wait to get some more wear and washes on them so they stop being such a deep black.

On feet, old reliable Wesco Boss 7500. My footwear rotation is really consolidating around wesco pull ons with a few other fun things like my drkshdw ramones or whites farmer boots for variety. Hell, im planning on putting another custom order in over the next few weeks- just need to decide if I want shiny domain leather on a mini vibram or roughout on a wedge.

- shirt: red head (9)

- tank: bronson (42)

- belt: SdA (34)

- jeans: 3sixteen RS (31)

- Boots: Wesco (9D)

Project 333 July-September

Gearing up for another run of Project 333 after really enjoying the first go around (Items from that run here, and some fits in pictures 7 and 8).

Ive got a big wardrobe of things that look better with age, and Ive found sticking to a limited selection for 3 months not only helps with the urge to chase dopamine with shopping, but it also helps build patina on the things I like most.

For this go, not too much is changing from the first run (which I take as a positive). The biggest change is the absence of any formal wear. I had a sport coat and some wool pants in round 1 and aside from the one occasion I needed them, they were just taking up space. So this time Im treating formalwear like gym clothes and jewelry, and not counting any of it towards my total. It helps that my workplace has a very laid back dress code, so I can wear the same thing to the office as I do out to a show or a bar after.

And in a pinch, I can make a "respectable adult" fit using the light blue striped ralph lauren shirt, the indigo denim, and the black Attractions boots which covers me for those days Im meeting external partners at work.

As always, happy to hear y'alls thoughts and hopefully this gives the guys lurking here another resource when trying to get a capsule together.

- Tecovas Jack (9D)

Fit 2:

Basic Friday fit feat. (old) new Attractions boots

Jacket: Le Laboreur x Gardenheir (L)

Shirt: Lady White Co (L)

Belt *not visible*: Sugar Cane (34)

Jeans: 13mwz (32x32)

Boots: Attractions 269 (8.5)

I was in the process of selling down my shoe collection and came to these 269 steerhide boots. I got them last year for the Patina Thunderdome but ended up going with Mister Lous instead. The plan was to save them for next year, but Im drifting further away from the idea of pushing certain pieces to patina and instead towards more of a "i like all these things, i dont baby them, and I wear them when I want'. So I decided to break em out now. Because its a rock-hard hide reminiscent of Red Wings klondike leather, I was anticipating an awful break in but no, the last is really accommodating thru the instep with a really sculpted heel cup to hold everything in place. I love my Wescos for being the tanks they are, but these are definitely the better designed boot.

Entering my wide(r) pants era

Grabbed these Indigofera Duke jeans in gunpowder a few days back and have been wearing them almost daily. The rise is nearing 13" and the thigh is almost 14" in a size 31. They're supremely comfortable, and since the back yoke is relatively shallow, they dont collapse in the seat like a lot of super wide japanese repros.

These are gonna be a mainstay for me in warmer weather- over 90' and humid today and I feel fine thanks to all the airflow around my legs.

Shirt: Vintage Structure linen shirt (L)

Tank: Bronson (42)

Belt: Uniqlo U

Jeans: Indigofera Duke (31/34)

Boots: Wesco Morrison (9C)

Past few posts with this theme got me looking back at my fits. Its interesting to see the common threads running through the years and how they feed into my style now. Pics in reverse chronological order so if you're following along, scroll back to front.

In the late 00s, early 10s I started to get into fashion beyond just skinny jeans, hot topic belts, and black band tees. I copped some APC PNS and clarks desert boots and basically tried to emulate a late 00s jcrew catalog.

Spent the first half of the 10s inspired by our lord and saviour Hedi Slimane (pbuh), dropped like 20lbs and basically stumbled into a weird mix of Tumblr, dior homme (had those 17.5cm MIJs), and internet meme fashion with the common projects. Definitely my awkward feeling things out era. The fits here are probably the least bad I still have access to...

Second half of the decade went deeper down the rabbit hole, discovered Y!JP and reverted back to my alt roots but with MUCH more expensive pieces. Lots of Julius, Guidi, Anne D, thrifted womenswear, and some Tricky Ricky. Still very happy with a lot of these fits tbh.

Started hitting the gym during Covid and bulking up. I wasnt in a spot to re-buy bigger things, and finding JP sizes 2-3 was a lot harder than copping size 1s for pennies. Kept the all black but simplified the execution a lot. Lots of tight pants here in hindsight though at the time I guess I would've called them slim lol.

After a while of wearing all black, I hit my "I should start dressing like an adult" phase. Lots of americana and ivy here. Started getting back into raw denim too. I like a lot of these fits and still have a lot of the pieces, but it always felt a little bit too much like a costume (or a copy+paste from Drakes/ALD) which is why....

The last set is kind of a synthesis of everything to date. Touching on heritage biker wear with the engineer boots, studded belts, pins, and chains to capture some of that alternative energy. Kept the trad/menswear proportions with tucked shirts, but also began leveraging crop tops to hit the same visual break. And overall dropped a lot of the color and vibrancy (intentionally) to differentiate the overall aesthetic from the broader heritage revival.

Been seeing our Lord and Saviour Ralph Lauren's signature shirt tuck besmirched on other subs. So I wanna take this chance to place myself squarely in the pro-Ralph tuck camp with this fit.

Shirt: Thrifted Redhead (L)

Tank: Bronson MFG (42)

Belt: Sugar Cane (34)

Jeans: Iron Heart 1955s 21oz OD (34)

Boots: Wesco Morrison (9C)

Copped these seconds from Berkeley for 170. Looking them over when they got in, they're better than some firsts I've purchased from RW brick and mortar stores.

I was looking for a beater wedge sole boot and wanted something in the briar oil slick, so when I saw this pair was still available in my size i jumped on it.

Went up 0.5 from my iron ranger size to account for the narrower toebox and they feel super comfortable right out of the box. Just swapped the laces for some old Truman rawhide ones I had lying around.

Absolutely gross weather here so im breaking out this Beams nylon jacket. Normally not super into technical fabrics, but the garment washing here helps to soften it and helps it blend easier with natural fibers. And the boots are comfy beater chelseas from Mongrel. MiAUS and available for ~$100 less than blundstone (or at least they were pre-tarriffs).

- Jacket: Beams garment washed nylon jacket (L)

- Shirt: Vintage PRL (M)

- Tank: Bronson (42)

- Belt: Sugar Cane (34)

- Jeans: Iron Heart 1955 21oz OD (34)

- Boots: Mongrel K9 chelsea
