What is this playing style called?
I’ve heard of lap tapping but I’m not sure if it fits as it looks more like drumming on an acoustic pad? Let me know your thoughts!

Just uploaded a recent recording and hope you enjoy it but also really want to get feedback!
It’s a cut from an extended improvisation jam session playing acoustic guitar flat on my lap.
I have been playing guitar laid flat on my lap for several years now and just started getting into recording. I am very curious to hear what they would sound like with a singer-songwriter on top. Here is my SoundCloud profile.

If any of you take the time to listen and hear a potential match, I’d love to hear from you! Also, even if it’s not you, I would honestly love an idea for what type of vocalists could potentially pair well with my style of play.
Thanks for listening!
hey everyone,
i made a guitar flip of the outro from “Centipede” and thought this might be the right place to share it. that song has always been one of my favorite Gambino tracks, especially the flow at “damn, i wasn’t in it… damn, we wasn’t finished...” and how it breaks down after that.
i’ve been making one-take acoustic guitar stuff lately where i play with the guitar flat on my lap, so i tried putting that with the beat and the vocal and seeing what happened. it builds a bit, and the part i like most is when the monologue comes in. just something i made because i love that era of his music.
curious what you all think.
Hi yall,
I just got back into playing after taking an 8 year break and I’d love for some feedback on the technique or structure or ideas for how I can develop this sound further. I play pretty unconventionally with the guitar on my lap, almost like it’s a drum. I don’t know how to loop or anything like that yet, so it’s all from a single play through.
Thanks for listening (best with headphones turned up)! Hope it’s enjoyable!

Hi everyone,
I recently got back into playing after not playing regularly for years and recorded this on a Yamaha FSX3.
It is a completely improvised one-take recording in standard tuning. I play with the guitar laid flat on my lap and use an unconventional approach that mixes tapping and percussion with the strings.
I’d love honest feedback—whatever comes to mind while listening. What stands out? What works? What doesn’t?
Thanks for listening.
