Superhero RPG that can be played as a miniatures game- suggestions?

Hello!!
I'm here asking for folks suggestions for a RPG that could lend itself as a miniatures game? No roleplaying, no group. Just a solo game of combat maybe with some objectives, but not much.

I've played Heroclix and Marvel Crisis Protocol and I'm not a fan of either rules. I did read (I think it was reddit) about the Four Color series of games, but I don't know much about them; if they're miniature games or RPGs.

I really do not have any experience in RPGs (other than I played D&D when I was a kid). I've looked at a few Supers RPG's and did some research.
Marvel Multiverse - seems pretty gamey with the Rank system and some of the Powers are really OP, but I like the variety of powers/abilities.
FASERIP - decent combat mechanics, need the advanced set from what I read, range/movement is in areas so that would need a rework for a minis game.
Champions - seems like this is the most popular choice to make into a tabletop game, but the character creation is complex and lengthy, and combat with multiple characters can take a long time
I prefer some crunch to combat, but nothing that will bog the game down too much.

Not sure if I like opposing dice roll mechanism. Seems like it could be super swingy. I think I like trying to hit a static number over opposing rolls, but willing to give it a try.
Love to hear any suggestions.

Thanks

Thinking of coming back to Heroclix but I had some oddball questions

So, I quit Heroclix around 5 years ago. The things I disliked about it were that it was a pay to win game, if you didn't play casually. So, that's what I did. I stopped blind buying boosters and just bought the pieces I liked and just played casual games with friends.

The other main issue I had with Heroclix was the powers displayed on the dial and how you lost/gained powers down the dial. I know it's just the mechanics of it and it was a representation of that characters multitude of powers/abilities they had, but it felt weird for me that The Flash (well, some of his figures) didn't have superspeed throughout his dial.

I looked at a couple other games like MCP, but I dislike the combat mechanics and dice. It's a very objective game and I found the game to be very "meh"

I looked at a couple rpg's, but they were either too complicated and time consuming (Champions, GURPs) or just too swingy/gamey (old Marvel TSR game and the new Marvel Multiverse rpg(

So, my question here to the Clix community is an odd one....

Has anyone house ruled Heroclix at all to make it more of a tabletop skirmish game instead of an alpha strike min/max game?

Has anyone created some house rules to make things a little more interesting? Added another dice roll for damage, or maybe some other little mechanism to add a little more depth?

Or am I delusional here and should just find another game to play? 😄

Appreciate any comments/suggestions/knowledge

Turin DF64 grinder - lighter roasts questions

Hello

I'm a new Turin DF64 owner and I'm struggling with lighter roasts. I've moved the grind setting from 10 to 1 and I'm continuously getting watery shots. Using an Ascaso Steel duo PID and I'm getting 3-7 bar.

I'm weighing my beans. Started with 18g then up to 20g, adjusting the grind size as I go. All watery results.

Beans are 2 weeks old.

I've got a darker roast that gives me zero issues. 18g, grind size 3, great shots, 11 bar.

Is this user error or just crap beans?

Software for character card creation - something for an inexperienced person

Hello

I'm looking for some recommendations on software I could use to make character cards for a miniatures game. I'm super inexperienced, but I don't mind learning, but nothing horribly complex. Something that looks clean and it doesn't need to be flashy.

Is there a free software option that is user friendly?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Customizable character cards/sheets

Is anyone aware of a smaller format fillable character sheet/card? Something smaller than the tradition 8x11? A google search really didn't yield anything.

Thanks

Looking for local coffee roasters

Hello

Looking for recommendations for local coffee roasters. Preferably non-store coffee shops. I already have a couple stores I get beans from, but I'd like to support "the little folks" 😄

Thanks

New guy question

Clobber - a successful attack deals regular damage. On a fantastic success, it's double damage.

So......how does Clobber differentiate from a normal melee attack? Don't they both deal regular damage?

Clearly, I'm missing something.

Could use some feedback from the experienced folks here

Greetings!

Not too long ago I posted here asking if these rules could be used as a tabletop miniatures game. No roleplaying, just a minis game. Most of the responses were no, some yes, a few heck yea!

I've now played a couple games using some lower level Avengers vs some Serpent Society, and in my newbie humble opinion, it wasn't bad.

I have a couple ideas to try and tweak things that I think would lend themselves to a more balanced combat game, but I only have couple games under my belt and I could be talking out my arse 😄

First thing is Rank. Initially I thought I would have issue to this. Rank x M die + bonus(es) = damage. I thought this would give me some flat "samey" numbers, but there was some variety. Still, I do crave a little more variety in combat output.

Anyone have a tweak they liked and willing to share?

My initial thought is maybe adding an additional bounus to a character who has a signature attack. For instance, Luke Cage. Maybe added a d6 extra damage to a Haymaker? Daredevil....maybe a d6 to a special Billy club attack?

However, I won't lie....there is a part of me that thinks I should just leave how damage is calculated alone. I didn't find it that out of whack.

The only issue I had is when I rolled a 1 on the Marvel die. Rank x 1 = bonus was so painful to see, but I guess that emulated a horrible shot or attack.

To all the superhero miniature gamers out there.

What's your jam?

I've played Heroclix and I'm not interested in jumping back in.

I've played Marvel Crisis Protocol years ago and it didn't latch onto me. Did not like how power was accumulated and it wasn't really a superhero skirmish game enough for me. It was too much about objectives. Not a bad thing, but I'm looking more for a wargame feel. Maybe it's changed?

I've looked at a few roleplaying games, but I don't think they'd work. Champions seems to be the logical choice, but character creation seems to be a chore, even if I dumbed it down for a strictly skirmish tabletop game. Stripping out all the fluff/prg stuff and just left the stats/powers, etc..

Looked at the old TSR superhero game and that has some promise.

The new Marvel Multiverse game seems way too unbalanced for a miniatures game.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I went to Pendraken and sadly, shipping to Canada from the UK is the same as the US!

Where do my Canadian brethren get their ww2 10mm stuff from?

New to KW and we are struggling to find any grocery stores that carry chirzo sausage. Any butchers in the area that sell it? We did go to the St. Jacobs market last week and didn't see any (but also, didn't look thoroughly)

Heading to the Kitchener market tomorrow to try our luck.

So, I've decided on the old TSR Marvel Superhero game for my tabletop miniatures superhero fix.

However, I recently discovered that there are clones of the old FASERIP game. I download the Advanced FASERIP game and noticed a few differences (mainly the naming conventions and the color changes on the Universal Table)

#1 - are there any real powers/abilities differences between the 2? At a glance it seems the FASERIP clone has added a bit more

#2 - any other clones that might be a better option than the Advanced FASERIP?

Thanks
