Avoid baby waking up at 5am

Hi fellow parents!

Our daughter is 3 months old and is generally a great sleeper. She goes down at 7pm and wakes up once for a solid feed around 1am, which we’re totally fine with.
The issue is the 5am wake-up. She wakes up, we give her a bottle, but she only takes 1–2oz before passing back out while eating. Then she’s fully awake and ready to start the day at 7am.
It feels like she’s just comfort-nursing or snacking out of habit rather than hunger at 5am, but she’s pretty insistent! Has anyone dealt with this "snack-to-breakfast" bridge? Any tips or tricks to help her snooze (or at least wait) until her actual 7am breakfast bottle?

Thanks in advance!

Is making a "WAAH WAAH" sound back at a crying newborn baby a Thai cultural thing/baby talk?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some cultural context regarding my Thai mother-in-law's behavior with our newborn daughter.

Whenever my daughter cries, my MIL approaches her and makes a loud, repetitive "WAAH WAAH WAAH" sound back at her. To me, it sounds exactly like she is mocking or making fun of a crying baby, which makes me incredibly uncomfortable.

When I politely asked her to stop doing it because I didn't like the sound, she got deeply offended, acted confused, and it caused a massive family drama (crying, yelling to my wife that I am "too serious," and holding a grudge for over a week). Later, when my wife (her daughter) also asked her to stop, MIL cried again and claimed she "doesn't even know what sound she's making."

To my farang ears, this sounds like blatant mocking and mimicking, but her intense confusion and defensive reaction make me wonder if I'm missing something.

Is there a common Thai onomatopoeia, baby talk expression, or cultural way of soothing/interacting with crying infants that sounds like "waah waah"? Or is this just a personal quirk/behavioral issue that has nothing to do with Thai culture?

Thanks!!

MIL makes crying sounds to my newborn daughter

My daughter is in newborn phase and therefore cries a lot when she wants something. Whenever she cries MIL approaches her with a WAAH WAAH WAAH noise.

To me sounds like she is mocking my baby.

I asked her:” Hey MIL, could you please do me a favor? You are making this crying sound. Please stop doing this. I don’t like it.”

She acted confused and just said: Ok

Then left without saying goodbye or anything.

About one hour later she called my wife, yelling, crying and saying I was too serious.

I texted her the next morning and apologized for making her upset. Silence.

A week has passed and inlaws came over for dinner. I left for about 20 minutes to pick up the food. While I was gone baby cried again and MIL dropped again her WAAH WAAH WAAH sounds. This time my wife (her daughter) asked her to stop. She started to cry that she doesn’t know what sound she’s making, and yelled that she’s still mad at me.

I’m just in a real WTF phase right now. I cannot have this drama whenever I ask her to act a certain way around my kid.

Looking for some advice. I don’t know what to do or say. At this point not comfortable having MIL handling my daughter.

Medela pump case with battery pack

Wife got the Medela pump that wasn’t portable so I made it portable. The official battery pack is just a housing for 8 AA batteries so a rechargeable battery pack seems appropriate.

Designed and 3D printed a case for it. Please find the link below. Maybe this helps someone else!

Hi all. I do not own any trailer yet but planning to get one. My driveway is pretty much exactly 16’ long and my favorite trailer would be a scamp 16. That would turn parking into a millimeter precision job 😭

I read that there are bolt/weld on tongue fold-away kits that reduce the overall exterior length by 2-3’.

Has anyone installed such a fold-away hinge onto their tongue?
