Here are PoB Templates for all 36 Mercenary types. Includes stats and skill gems.

I spent a lot of time this league avoiding setting up a Merc in PoB because I'm lazy, but after struggling to figure out how to improve DPS on my Manyshot, wanting to test a Bastion Merc, and reading this post https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1vqv93j/very_basic_merc_gearing_guide_pob_for_merc_howto/ I decided to finally do it.

To go along with the Mercenary search tool on my site (https://pob.codes/tools/mercenaries/), I put these templates together. When you select a Merc on the search tool it will show these links too. I did use an LLM to generate them, but they're based on data mined data and PoB / PoB Codes code. I compared 8 or 9 of them to in game Merc stat sheets and they all matched perfectly. If you find an issue let me know.

These templates have all skill gems (that are selectable) set to enabled at gem level 26. You'll want to disable whichever skills your Merc doesn't have. Supports are not included because a lot of support gems don't exist or they don't have a perfect match to skills, and I didn't want to include a partial list. The notes section contains the same info as the configs section, but that way you can modify the configs section and have the original values to fall back to.

Enjoy.

If you haven't updated your NVIDIA drivers to the 610.88 version yet, you're missing out on one of the biggest performance improvements ever

I'm able to run 40% deli T16.5 breaches with full juice - resonant cascade, wisps, astrolabe, with a Headhunter, and still maintain ~60 FPS throughout. On rare occasion I'll dip down to ~40 FPS but I also frequently stay around 70-90 FPS. I have an RTX 5070 and 9800X3D CPU but I imagine that even on a rig with older hardware, the performance gain will feel huge.

I was also able to run the Legion of Eternal Conflict strategy with 0 issue at all, which a lot of people previously complained about being super laggy:

Hopefully we get more juiced mechanics to play around with soon(tm). This would have been awesome on the previous Blight farm.

What's the consensus now for leveling a Luminary? Any leveling PoB or guides?

Thinking about starting one, but not sure if there's a specific skill that people found to work well considering the lack of lab options. As a third char I guess I could play almost anything but if anyone has a PoB they used for leveling recently, it would be helpful to see / save me some time.

Uber Lab has no Golden Door today

Map is here : https://www.poelab.com/7kuhd/

The reset was just a few hours ago, so there are about 21 hours from now remaining before reset.

Good for people who like doing this for 40/40 challenges or farming transfigured gems.

Adding extra useless text here so the automod doesn't block my post for not being long enough to be deemed "useful".

Sharing what I learned about Data Centers after talking with the Mayor and Xouhua Bowen, and Xouhua Bowen's re-election campaign.

In the last month or so I've had the opportunity to meet 1:1 with both our Mayor Juan Gonzalez and Xouhua (Soo-uh) Bowen who is the council member for my district. I'm just a fairly long time resident of San Leandro who has become a bit more invested / interested in the direction that our city goes, especially now that I have a kid.

My conversations with them both covered a fair number of topics from our backgrounds and upbringing, to hotter topics like Lake Chabot Road, Data Centers, revenue, budgets, etc.

I didn't record or even take notes at these converastions, these notes are from memory. I did tell each of them that I'd likely post about my conversation on Reddit, because I think it's a helpful way for the community to get insight.

My conversation with the Mayor was focused largely on Data Centers, and the pros/cons of them. I went into the meeting thinking there were basically no "pros" at all -- which I'm sure resonates with many of you based on what we see in the media. After talking with the Mayor and doing a ton of additional research on my own, I will say that my opinion has shifted slightly. I'm definitely not "pro data center" but I do think there are some real upsides that largely get ignored, and I think there is a lot of disinformation out there, in particular about how Data Centers operate in California compared to other states with virtually no regulations.

My takeway from the conversation with the Mayor was that he is not aggressively pursuing a data center for the city, but that he sees a real upside from them in terms of the revenue that they generate, and that he is very open to the idea of them. He told me he has not had any discussion with data center builders/providers, and my own opinion is that I don't believe this is something that he or anyone else on our council is trying to "sneak" into the community, which I'm sure many of you all have seen stories about in other neighboring communities.

Some of my assumptions going into the meeting that I learned were wrong:

  • The city would sell land to a data center builder so that we could get the transfer tax and property tax. This is false. The City owns little to no commercial land.
  • The property tax is the revenue stream for the city. This is false. The city gets something like 12% of the total property tax assessment. The rest goes to the county and state.

The majority of the revenue comes through something called the UUT (Utility Users Tax) which has existed for a long time, and exists in most cities throughout the state, at varying rates. In San Leandro the rate is 6% (https://ecode360.com/44066638#44066688). In Hayward it's 5.5%. The more electricity that a business or resident uses, the more revenue the city gets.

My rough numbers based on my rough understanding:

  • If a data center is a "100MW data center" then it can use up to that amount per hour. Typically data centers use about 70% of capacity
  • 70MW is 70,000 kW.
  • 70,000 kW per hour * 24 hours per day * 365 days in a year = 613,200,000 kW of power per year.
  • PGE charges data centers somewhere around $0.20 per kW. Rates are here (industrial) https://www.pge.com/tariffs/en/rate-information/electric-rates.html#accordion-a84c67dc1e-item-0924dc9be9
  • This data center would pay $122M in electricity fees alone, per year. The city would get $7.3M in tax revenue from that.
  • Additional revenue comes from sales tax. This is much more complicated and I am less familiar with the nuances of this, but at a high level, for some purchases the city gets 1% of the purchase price in sales tax.
  • In Hayward they are projecting $10M/yr in revenue by 2033 for their STACK Data Center. The STACK Data Center also will use 100% renewable energy and is required to minimize water usage. https://www.hayward-ca.gov/sites/default/files/2026-06/FY-2027-Adopted-Budget-Book-CC-060226.pdf
  • This is how Santa Clara makes about $45M/yr from their data centers.

Back to my meeting with the Mayor. His points were:

  • Santa Clara has thrived off of data centers for decades and we haven't heard about it being an issue for the people who live there
  • The city is trying in many ways to attract businesses (Bayfair, business friendly tax structure, reducing red tape for new business, etc.) and jobs that pay well, but it's challenging.
  • Even though Data Centers don't create hundreds of permanent jobs, the jobs it does create and the services that it attracts, are generally well paying. Well paying jobs also bring revenue to the city.
  • The city desparately needs to find more sources of revenue. We just closed a $12M structual deficit by kicking the can down the road which we've been doing for years. We keep deferring maintenance on capital projects and cutting services to balance the budget.
  • California has way more regulation than most other states as it pertains to data centers, including bills recently passed in the legislature.

I researched many of these, and ultimately agreed with the Mayor's point on this.

Enacted:

  • SB 57: Ratepayer and Technological Innovation Protection Act (Enacted)

Pending:

  • SB 886: California Technology Innovation and Ratepayer Protection Act
  • SB 887: Data Centers and Environmental Review
  • SB 1168: Data Center Rate Structures
  • AB 1577: Data Center Energy and Operational Reporting
  • AB 2469: Data Center Water Use Disclosures and Permitting
  • AB 2619: Data Center Water Reporting and Efficiency Practices

Whether you agree or disagree with the above, I thought the Mayor made some valid points and gave me a lot to research and think about.

In my meeting with Xouhua, we talked about many of the same topics. I won't go into as great of detail since it was rehashing and debating some of the above, but I will say that Xouhoa's position is generally against Data Centers.

She brought it up in a City Council meeting a few weeks ago, wanting to have a referral for a moratorium on Data Centers. I believe she's been talking to local leaders throughout the Bay Area and abroad to learn about what has worked and hasn't worked from them. I also believe after talking with Xouhoa that her goal with a moratorium is to be able to give the city residents / council / staff time to have the conversations about what a data center would mean for the community, if one was to ever come here.

From her own website, her position is : "Advocated for thoughtful planning around emerging technologies, including evaluating the environmental impacts of AI data centers on our water, energy use, and infrastructure."

I generally share the same position. If there is a way to bring $10M/yr in revenue to the city and it can be done with the right guard rails in place, then it could be beneficial. And if there isn't a way to do it thoughtfully, then it's probably not the right choice.

I also learned that Xouhua is running for re-election for District 5, and she is kicking off her campaign at Fieldwork in downtown San Leandro on Wednesday 7/29 at 5:30pm. She said she isn't one for huge speeches, but she'll probably talk briefly and have 2 guest speakers to talk briefly as well.

https://www.facebook.com/xouhoaforsanleandro/photos/now-more-than-ever-we-need-to-lead-with-integrity-courage-and-a-commitment-to-ou/1030080359751928/

Mike Santos recently announced that he would be running against Xouhua, and so far all that we know about him is that he told East Bay Insiders he was running because of Xouhua's referral against data centers.

Whether you support data centers or not, hopefully you found this post informative.

If you're in District 5 (or even if you're not), I encourage you all to join Xouhua at FieldWork next week. It will be a kid friendly event. It is a good low stakes opportunity to learn more about her and her platform. Her website is here https://www.xouhoabowen.com/ . I want to be clear that I have no political background or aspirations, I'm not part of her campaign, nothing like that. I'm just trying to share unbiased information as it pertains to our city. I find Xouhua to be very approachable, reasonable, thoughtful, and engaged, and I'm likely voting for her.

Early leveling on Witch in 3.29 - Freezing Pulse / KB / KF / Creeping Frost

I've been doing runs through Act 2 and I can't make up my mind on what will actually feel better to play.

I've tried using Freezing Pulse and it just feels so bad compared to Kinetic Blast right now. I'm not actually sure that the buffs in 3.29 will make it feel better in the early game, because we have so few sources of flat cold damage, and the additional 1 projectile might feel worse at first because of the awkwardness of aiming 2 projectiles.

PhazePlays' PoB has you switching to Creeping Frost at level 12, but after using that both with Volley + Multiple Projectiles, and Volley + Added Cold Damage, the single target feels pretty bad. His PoB is loaded with other buttons like Frost Bomb and Cold Snap. Even with both of those spells up and Flamewall, Creeping Frost's single target is still lacking in the very early game.

Jung did a play test with Winter Orb and he leveled using two separate Kinetic Fusillade's before going into Cold DoT with Spellslinger. His tree looked totally different than PhazePlays' build guide, and going into maps it looks like slightly less DPS in PoB, but I imagine the uptime is really good and the QoL high being a Spellslinger setup.

Right now I'm tempted to just try and play Kinetic Blast into Kinetic Fusillade and then swapping to Creeping Frost and Winter Orb at 35-40 when I have two 4-links. Curious if anyone else has done some play testing with these skills yet.

[Pre 3.29 Test] Hollow Palm Sunder Slayer - 8.7M DPS, 101k ehp, fairly low budget

EDIT: I accidentally had a second guard skill loaded, eHP is 90k and max phys is 8.8k. Current PoB link is updated.

I put together this PoB for a league starter Hollow Palm Sunder Slayer. It looked promising so I ended up giving it a try in standard.

Early PoB: https://pob.codes/b/I0BcWG_iEGO

The play test went pretty well so I spent some more time putting together a PoB, then again tried building toward it. In this PoB the default loadout is what I ended up building, and what is showcased in the video. It also includes a level 98 PoB which is only slightly more aspirational, mostly with a better timeless jewel, a 21/20 gem, couple other small things.

Current PoB: https://pob.codes/b/FIjdOGCcqCU

The build has 8.7M DPS, 101k 90k ehp, 9.6k 8.8k max phys without a guard skill up, 68/65 block through glancing blows Versatile Combatant, ailment immunity through Stormshroud, 14k evasion, 15k armor (no flasks), and is slightly overcapped on resists. Onslaught uptime is great in maps. Damage spikes to 9.5M with Lion's Roar up. On bosses the realistic DPS is probably 7.8M (no flask, no onslaught)

It can run reflect maps, monsters block attacks (pick up the mastery for 1 point), and no regen if you don't mind using a mana flask.

Showcase: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw7LEulPqpE

The video has 3 sections, the first is of the original PoB on a regular T16 map, then a semi-juiced T16.5 with Breach, then a quick attempt at Fortress. I died once in the semi-juiced breach, I think due to getting stunned.

I didn't use Multistrike even though it PoBs higher. It felt kinda weird, I couldn't tell if it was animation cancelling Sunder or what. I tried Earthshatter and it just felt way worse due to no autoexerting warcries, and Sunder already has a lot of AoE on this build.

I don't think the build requires a mana flask, after getting killed due to stun in the T16.5 map, I'd probably swap it out for a quartz flask to get phasing.

Overall I'd strongly consider playing this at league start. I'm not sure of the budget, but I'd guess ~10 divines on a day 2-3 budget. It should be easy to level with slams until picking up a few pieces of gear with Dex on it.

Any cool twink leveling tech in standard with legacy items?

Don't have any specific class in mind, I've just been going through my stash in Standard and realize I have a fair amount of legacy stuff. Wondering if anyone knows of twink leveling builds that rely on OP legacy items.

If you're playing Palsteron's KF Totem Paladin you probably want to start leveling with Spectral Throw

I looked through a few of Palsteron's videos/PoBs and he mentions Galvanic Arrow/Shrapnel Ballista, into Rain of Arrows, but on a quick Act 1 test run I ran into an issue basically right away.

  1. You don't have enough Dex to even use a Short Bow from Palsteron's guide until level 11
  2. Short bow has a level requirement of 5, and Tarkleigh didn't sell a Crude bow
  3. Double Strike sucks

Palsteron's A1 tree https://pobb.in/FoDxApFqofks has you pathing down the left/inner/inner side of the tree which I think is unnecessary considering we don't have gauntlet mods.

You can path down the right/inner/inner side of the tree instead, to Art of the Gladiator, then Fury Bolts, which works really well for Spectral Throw and is also good for swapping to Rain of Arrows at level 12. This also gives you enough Dex to use bows earlier if you want.

Just grab a 2H axe/sword from Tarkleigh, use Volley Support, and that should carry you through Act 1. If you are struggling with monster positioning for Spectral Throw, pick up Decoy Totem to taunt them and stop them from moving.

Other basic A1 tips:

  • Grab Steel Iron Rings / Rustic Sash early on for more damage
  • Grab Sniper's Mark if you struggle with damage somehow
  • Grab Leap Slam after Brutus
  • Grab a Lapis Amulet if you want to use Frostblink early

Harbinger Ensnaring Arrow/Void Sphere RoTA "cheese" build

I started looking at Harbinger ascendancy because it has a couple nodes that I think pair really well with this build archetype, designed around block/spell dodge/debuffs.

I didn't actually play one of these type of builds during ToTA so I am not sure how well it would perform, but on paper I think it checks most of the boxes. This could also make for an easy swap to an end-game content build with BV Bog Shaman.

https://pob.codes/b/kGkgODYX0Go

The ascendancy enables:

  • 55% CDR from the ascendancy totals up to 144% CDR, which allows you to use regular Void Sphere which has much bigger AoE - 4.9 meters in this version
  • Visiting Harbinger of Time Skill grants 10% action speed to you and your allies, but no action speed to enemies (like The Torrent's Reclamation)
  • 100% increased AoE on curses with no reservation for Temporal Chains
  • No great fourth node, which is perfect for the new tattoos. Ideally you get More Than Skill for lucky block, but you could take a ton of other stuff and get value out of it

The build features a lot of the usual stuff from this archetype, but in totality:

  • 94/95% evade without a single conditional up. 95/95% with at least 1 flask
  • 75% spell/attack block, up to 93% with lucky block
  • 75% spell dodge without a single conditional up.
  • (Near?) Permanent Flask Sustain through Tides of Time + Alchemist's Genius + passive tree
  • Screen-wide Temporal Chain + Vulnerability Aura
  • Enfeeble on Hit
  • Ensnare on Hit
  • Chance to flee on hit (Pacifism)
  • Blind on Hit (Tattoos)
  • Screen-wide Void Sphere
  • Frostwall for extra CC
  • Over 200% movement speed
  • Phasing
  • Culling Strike on Flask

There's quite a bit of flexibility in the build.

  • You could drop Impresence and Vulnerability Aura for
  • Perquil's Toe (Allies have Lucky Hits)
  • Shaper's Seed (Allies have 4% Life Regen)
  • The Anvil (Max Attack Block + Block)
  • Ashes of the Stars (Gem Quality for more CDR/Ensaring Effect)
  • Aul's Uprising for free Haste/Grace reservation
  • Eternal Struggle for 15% cull instead of 10% from flask
  • Felbog Fang for Increased AoE and Increased Damage against Enemies
  • Pandemonius for guaranteed 1 second chill + blind (might be really good)
  • It's not using a perfect Widowhail or Rearguard, and with Volatile Vaal Orbs you have an opportunity to make them even better.
  • You can grab things like a Watcher's Eye with Spell Suppression or % Evade from Grace, both of which would unlock more passive points.
  • You can increase AoE further by pathing to Blast Radius or Increased Hex AoE on the Whispers of Doom wheel.
  • You can drop Magebane for more evasion.
  • Grab Onslaught via Flask for more movement speed and pickup the Graceful Assault wheel. Corruption on most items is possible too.
  • Fill out block with more Reckless Defense jewels or even another small cluster
  • Drop the Blind effect wheel for more passives back
  • Drop most of the Runegrafts for more passives back

Here's a roundup of some popular streamer builds from the last Phrecia 2.0 event

I was trying to see what people were playing in the last event, and compiled these. Tuna's build looks new/updated, at least it's a video that was just posted today. Some of the other builds had some mixed reception but I think the general consensus is that the gauntlet mods in the last event just made things way harder than most people expected. I converted all of the trees from 3.27 to 3.28 and didn't observe any major changes in them. I imagine most of these should perform fairly well, but hard to say how effective they will be for ToTA itself. Hopefully GGG tweaks it so that we're not all stuck playing Voidsphere.

Palsteron - Kinetic Fusillade Ballista Totem - Paladin

Crouching Tuna - Blade Vortex - Bog Shaman

Goratha - Penance Brand of Dissipation - Herald

Jungroan - Viper Strike of the Mamba - Aristocrat

Ruetoo - Elemental Hit Surfcaster

CaptainLance - Jiquani's Potential - Spark - Aristocrat

Zizaran - Earthshatter - Ancestral Commander

Magefist - Flicker Strike - Wildspeaker

Here's a list of all regular ascendancy notables to make it easier to put ascendancy tattoos for the ToTA event into PoB. Also, a regex Global Object Search to make it easy to find modifiers across any object

I was playing around in PoB last night and since tattoos are class based, not ascendancy based, I was getting a bit annoyed having to click through a bunch of wiki tabs to find the text I needed to copy and paste into PoB's custom modifiers

You can find a quick-copy-and-paste version of the notables here https://pob.codes/tools/ascendancies/ or if you just want raw text, here https://pob.codes/ascendancies.txt

I also have been working on a Global Object search that supports regex, that I got into a good enough state to release last night. It includes Foulborn Uniques and Alternate/Phrecia ascendancies.

https://pob.codes/tools/globalsearch/

This allows you to search for strings with regex pattern matching support, making it easier to find what you're looking for without having to jump through multiple wiki tabs and scroll through the entire page to find what you need.

Examples:

  • You're planning an Aristrocrat Strength stacker and want to find sources of % increased strength|% increased attributes. The results show that the Chieftan (Ascendant) notable (which should have a tattoo per the announcement page) has 10% increased Strength

  • If you were building a dual-attribute stacker, maybe for Heavy Strike of Trarthus, you could search for something like increased str OR increased int OR per \d+ strength OR per \d+ intelligence and get 65 results, all in a single view

  • If you're looking for life reservation efficiency but using CTRL+F on the reservation efficiency wiki page gives you a ton of mana reservation efficiency results. You could search for (?<!\b(?:mana|reduced)\s)reservation efficiency of skills to find results that only affect life or generic reservation efficiency

  • If you are planning a spell-based build that uses Rathpith Globe or Sacrifice Support and you want to find sources of life regeneration/recovery, you could search for regenerate \d+% of life per second|Regenerate \d+(?:\.\d+)? Life|life recovery rate and find 59 results

You don't need to be a regex expert to use this. I put a bunch of search templates in place, there's a help button, and you can always try an LLM tool to help you with a regex string too.

I know that PoB allows you to search for strings on uniques, and I know that the Wiki has even more comprehensive data, but I've always felt like this type of search was hard to do, which is why I built this. I haven't added regular item modifiers (yet), but might tomorrow if people think it would be useful.

[Tool] PoB.Codes major updates from the last month

Hey everyone, it's been about a month since I shared the last round of updates to PoB.codes. Here are some highlights of updates since then.

  • Added Trade Links for all items and gems. I attempted to make this as close to a single-click search as possible. The trade links rely heavily on the modifier "count" feature through the trade site.

As an example, if you search for an item with Eldritch implicits, they will be included as a modifier group in the search, but they will be disabled initially. This is because typically you're looking for the item itself and can deterministically add the eldritch mods. But if you really want them, you can just enable that modifier group to include them in the search. I would love feedback on this.

  • Added a "Trade List" view which includes an option to copy a "Better Trading" (chrome) (firefox) import string for all items in the build to your clipboard. This should make it easier for you to get all of your trades bookmarked before league launch.
  • Added a link to the Wiki for unique items and all gems.
  • Build comparisons got a ton of tweaks/improvements. I also added a passive tree comparison so that you can easily see which parts of the passive tree are different between two builds.
  • The trending section was replaced with a "Random Builds" list that updates hourly
  • The "Import Character" workflow now supports several options for applying configs. Especially useful for console players.
  • The "Issue Checker" had several more issues added to it - Delirium Bloodline vs Jewels, Close Combat Support, and tighter logic on several other issues
  • Tooltips/modals for all items and gems should be much more comprehensive now, matching what you see in game.
  • A huge number of UX improvements. The site should feel faster on all devices with a more consistent experience across the board.

I'm still working on getting an "Open with PoB" button added. This requires that the PoB team explicitly adds support for my site in order to work. I think they're willing to work with me but with the recent PoE2 league launch I have tried not to pester them too much.

If you find any UI/UX bugs, functional issues, or have recommendations on how I can make "one click trade search" better, please let me know.

Has anyone used the Binds of Bloody Vengeance + Reckless Defense combo?

Curious how this combo feels to play in practice. In theory you just need to get hit once every 4 seconds and hopefully the ~350%+ increased chance to take a critical strike guarantees that you get crit.

Does the uptime feel pretty consistent on an armor build? I'm assuming based on https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Blocking#Hit_effects that you can pair this with block, but would appreciate confirmation.

Good RMA experience with SeaSonic for a PSU

Just posting here for anyone who is curious about how it works. They were super instructive and responsive via email about my PSU that had a bad fan or fan bearing or something. When mounted with the fan facing up it would make a super faint but annoying sound.

They wanted to give me a lower tier PSU initially but I explained to them I had specifically picked the mid-tier PSU (can't remember all the models and shit off hand, not gonna dig through my email to find it) because it was known to have better internal components. They agreed to give me a slightly more expensive PSU than what I had initially purchased.

The new PSU came fast, I installed it, let it run for 2 weeks, then packed up my old PSU and mailed it back. I had to pay $19 shipping but that was it.
