Talk me off the ledge (Hybrid Theory)

I’m relatively new to all of this. For most of my life, I didn’t pay much attention to the topic. My basic view was: “Of course we’re not alone. Statistically, that seems likely. So what? Life is probably everywhere.”
But recently I started reading about hybridization theory and the idea that humanity may have been seeded here for purposes we do not understand. The possibility that much of what we believe about ourselves…as biological, spiritual, and historical beings…could be wrong has really shaken me.

Some versions of this theory even suggest that our religions may function as control or management systems, and that humanity itself may serve some larger purpose for a more advanced intelligence.

Then I heard Elizondo make a comment on a podcast along the lines of: “It’s happening. Spend time with your family and the people you love.”

Now I’m in a serious psychological funk. If this theory is true, I honestly struggle to imagine a more destabilizing scenario.
How are others processing this?

Anti Bot

I’ve listened to a few interviews with Anti-Bot. At this point I feel like her affiliation with Satanism, her support of TST and Christianity poses a real philosophical challenge for TST if one listens to her position closely.

In short, if TST is defined mainly by compassion, justice, bodily autonomy, and moral humility and then we are told those tenets are basically Christian by Anti Bot, then the question is not whether someone can be both Christian and Satanist. The question is whether TST is a actually Satanism in any serious sense.

Hello my brothers and sisters in Christ. I come to you simply as a fellow believer.

Please understand that revelations concerning non-human intelligence and life may be closer than many realize, and such events could bring confusion, fear, and even deep theological uncertainty to the Church. But do not lose heart. Stand firm in faith and remember that God is sovereign over all creation.

We may soon discover that the meaning of “all things” is far more vast and mysterious than we ever imagined.

If even a fraction of current UAP / non-human intelligence disclosures turn out to be true, then The Church — including The Episcopal Church — is heading toward the single greatest theological shock since Darwin.

And honestly? I see almost no serious theological preparation happening.

What happens to doctrines of creation if intelligent non-human beings exist?

What happens to the Incarnation?

Did Christ become incarnate once for all creation, or once for humanity specifically?

Do extraterrestrial intelligences participate in sin, salvation, grace, or redemption?

Would they even have a concept analogous to religion?

Would we recognize them as persons bearing the image of God?

The Episcopal Church constantly speaks about inclusion, justice, and human dignity….but are we prepared to extend theology beyond humanity itself?

Or are we still operating with an implicitly medieval cosmology while pretending to be intellectually modern?

To be clear: this is not about “little green men” sensationalism. This is about theological readiness for paradigm collapse. Christianity survived heliocentrism and evolution because eventually theologians wrestled seriously with reality instead of denying it.

Where are the bishops, theologians, seminaries, and commissions discussing this openly? Why does it feel like science fiction forums are asking deeper theological questions than the Church?

If disclosure accelerated tomorrow, would the Church lead humanity through existential shock — or would it simply react after the fact like it usually does?

Curious what other Episcopalians and Christians think. Is this nonsense? Premature speculation? Or is this actually one of the most important unanswered theological questions of the 21st century?
