Tl:dr don’t sell your s9, you’ll regret it and there’s nothing as good at the same price point
Had an S9 since I picked one up in a Thanksgiving 2024 sale. Recently as part of an attempt to downsize (I shoot Sony as my main) I got rid of it - just before the recent sale. In total I sold the camera and 18-40 for ~1400 in decent condition.
My only issues really being lack of EVF and lack of small lenses. I had the 45mm f2.8 but it's *heavy* for its size and didn't feel as natural on it as it looked.
I decided to pick up an xt30iii as my EDC. Im a dad to young kids so there are plenty of times I want a camera with me, but don't want to bring my Sony with me.
So I get the XT30III and the 23mm f2.8 - and I shot Fuji for years from about 2016-2022, before I moved to full frame - and the whole time I'm thinking - this cost me more than the S9 kit, is not much smaller, is worse in low light, has worse AF, and is crap for video (no IBIS, AF issues etc).
Then Panasonic announced the 40 f2. And the wider small lens on the roadmap. And I think. Well that's what I was waiting for .
So to cut a long story short, I found myself regretting my sale. Then the L10 promos actually made me miss the S9 more. Somehow, rather than wanting an L10.
So here I am. I paid 1-200 bucks extra (after the price I sold my old S9 for) for a new Titanium S9 (I told myself if I didn't get titanium psychologically I'd feel too much like I ripped myself off) and I'm delighted to have it back. And I guess with a fresh 4 year warranty, too. With the 40 f2 on preorder.
