Feeling blackpilled on china holy shit

Feel like I'm pushing with all my weight against my peers who see all this stuff about China being "macho" on the world stage and fall in love with it.

They're coming for their people fast. It makes my blood boil. It's been happening for a long time but most that is focused on by the media is trade and trade and trade, which I understand to keep the supply chains stable, but man its crushing to find the most consistent popular discussion of the issue in memes. Even the Vatican took a gamble in 2018 to give some legitimacy to the state-run Catholic Church to try and protect the rest of the underground Catholics. Now the CCPA is following through with a legal subordination to the national ideology, and all the other state religious associations are following through with it as well. All these suppressions of culture and thought is part of a greater project, everyone knows it, and they are looking the other way. How long are we going to be made to look at them like casual trading frenemies while everyone trying to pressure for freedoms in China gradually gets their hands tied?

When someone goes on and on about how great and fancy China is, ask them about the trade unions. Or why you can't criticize the CCP beyond the most local level. Or how they treat the NGOs. You can pretend like these things are holdovers from a tougher time, or that we can seperate it from all the endearing projects China does. But the CCP very much knows its own policies, how much it is inseperable from their political and economic system, and they swim in its profits.

I'm so glad the UFLPA has remained untouched at its core, though. More people need to know we can pass legislation like that in the US in the future once we get cleaned up. But i find it almost unconscionable that despite all that that the State Department can truthfully say about China, we are asked to shut up and bend to strategic necessities again and again. I am concerned that in several decades that the world will wish it could have done more. This dillema, and it is a valid dillema, makes me so bitter. I'm desperate to write to my reps about it.

I'm concerned that some people are getting their political theory online from those who have never actually interacted with the adult world
