[35M] Looking for a sibling-type connection and a lasting place in each other's lives

Hello everyone, once again!

I've always liked the idea that family isn't necessarily something you're born into. Sometimes it's something you build with people who choose to stay, support you, and genuinely care about you. That's what I'm hoping to find here.

I'm a 35-year-old married guy from (and in) Europe, looking for a long-term, purely platonic friendship that can hopefully grow into something that feels a little like having a sibling.

Someone you check in with from time to time. Someone you can share life's wins and frustrations with, send ridiculous memes to, celebrate the good days with, and lean on when things get difficult.

I'm happily married, so i'm not looking for anything romantic or NSFW. Just genuine friendship and a meaningful connection.

A little about me:

Over the last few years i've lost around 50kg, built a home gym, and discovered that i genuinely enjoy exercising. So if you need a gym buddy, i can be that!

I'm a huge music nerd, especially 70s, 80s and 90s rock, hip hop and soul. I also love cooking, reading, gaming, football, professional wrestling, movies, TV, and having unnecessarily long conversations about philosophy, ethics and life's bigger questions.

I've recently gotten back into reading and, for once, actually managed to stick with it. So i'm more than able to discuss books with you!

I also have an 11-year-old dog who is objectively the bestest boy and will probably make an appearance sooner or later.

What I'm hoping to find:

Someone around my age or older, or at least 25+, who values kindness, honesty, consistency and effort. Someone who actually wants to get to know another person rather than exchange a few messages and disappear.

I don't expect anyone to be available 24/7. Life gets busy, and i completely understand that. What matters to me is mutual effort and knowing that both people actually want to keep the connection alive, instead of it being a one sided deal.

And if we talk and you don't think we're a good match, that's completely fine. You don't owe me friendship, and i won't take it personally. I'd just much rather hear "I don't think we'll click" than be left wondering what happened.

More importantly, i hope whoever reaches out understands that meaningful connections take time and patience. You don't build something lasting through a few conversations, and i'm not looking for someone who expects an instant bond. I want to get to know each other slowly, naturally, and genuinely, and see where that takes us.

If you don't have the patience or the time to invest in that, that's completely okay, but please don't reply to this post. You'll only be wasting the most valuable thing we both have, our time.

A little honesty, patience and kindness can go a very long way.

If you're looking for something similar, tell me a little about yourself. What's been on your mind lately? What are you passionate about? Or tell me something completely random that made you smile this week.

I'm looking forward to meeting some genuinely good people. If you made it this far, i hope you have an amazing day!

[35M] Looking for a sibling-type connection and a lasting place in each other's lives

Hello everyone, once again!

I've always liked the idea that family isn't always something you're born into. Sometimes it's something you build with people who choose to stay, support you, and genuinely care about you. That's what brings me here. I've been meeting a lot of great people on a couple of subreddits, so i'm here again, looking for more great people!

I'm a 35-year-old married guy, from Europe searching for a long-term, purely platonic connection that hopefully grows into something that feels a bit like having a sibling. Someone who checks in from time to time, shares life's wins and frustrations, sends random memes, celebrates the good days, and helps carry the weight of the difficult ones.

I'm not looking for anything romantic or NSFW. I'm happily married and only interested in building genuine friendships and meaningful connections.

A little about me:

I've spent the last few years trying to become a better version of myself. I lost around 50kg, built a home gym, and discovered that I genuinely enjoy exercising. More importantly, I've been working on becoming a better communicator, setting healthier boundaries, and being the kind of person people can rely on.

I'm a huge music nerd, especially when it comes to 70s, 80s, and 90s rock, hip hop, and soul. I love discussing albums, artists, and music history.

I enjoy cooking, reading, gaming, football (soccer), professional wrestling, movies, TV shows, and long and boring conversations about philosophy, ethics, and life's bigger questions. Recently I've gotten back into reading and have managed to stick with it for the first time in years.

I also have an 11-year-old dog, who is the bestest boy and will absolutely appear in photos or videos.

What I'm hoping to find:

Someone around my age or older (if you're younger than me, please, be over 25, because i highly doubt we'll have common ground) who values kindness, consistency, effort, and honesty.

Someone who wants to build an actual connection rather than exchange a handful of messages and disappear.

I don't care about your gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, or political views. What matters to me is how you treat people, you can actually introduce yourself without mentioning the first two. People are a giant blob online, so to me, whoever aproaches me deserves respect and kindness.

Someone that actually wants to develop something, not someone that just wants to pass time or that messaged me because they were bored and thought that it was a good idea.

Life gets busy, and I completely understand that. Nobody can be available all the time. What matters is knowing that both people are making an effort to stay connected when they can.

I'd love to build the kind of friendship where we can talk about serious things one day, send ridiculous memes the next, and slowly become part of each other's support systems over time.

If you're also looking for a sibling-like bond, tell me a little about yourself. Tell me what's been on your mind lately, what you're passionate about, or even something completely random that made you smile this week.

PS: If you messaged me previously, i wasn't able to get back to you because reddit is not being cooperative with me these past few days!

PPS: Please, message me only if you're serious about having a back and forth with me. If not the writting on the wall for me is "this person isn't really interested in anything i have to offer".

Thank you for reading, and may you have a wondeful day!

(35M) Looking for long-term, platonic friendships

Salutations!

I've met some genuinely wonderful people through posts like these, so I'm hoping to meet a few more. I got overwhelmed with the positive feedback i got from the last post, so i'll take another shot.

I'm happily married, european and only looking for platonic friendships. No NSFW stuff just good conversations, shared interests, terrible memes, and hopefully, slowly build a lasting friendship.

I've had this come up a lot, so i feel like i should add this before you go any further. I don't share pictures of myself or my socials. I have nothing to hide, but i feel like it has to be earned. The same way i'll never request that from anyone. I've had people ask me for pictures of myself 10 minutes into a conversation, and i find that highly inapropriate.

A bit about me:

Love cooking and sharing food photos.

My 11-year-old dog will show up randomly in pictures

I lost a lot of weight and got into working out (if you want a progress buddy or something of the sort, i'm your guy)

I speak 3 languages fluently (Portuguese, English, Spanish) and i'm currently learning Italian, so if you want someone to help with either Portuguese or Spanish (if you're reading this, i don't think you need help with English 😆)

Big music nerd, especially 70s, 80s, and 90s rock, hip hop, and soul.

These are the things that i also love, in no particular order: football, professional wrestling, reading, movies, TV shows, and gaming (I own a lot of physical media and yeah, I'm angry at Sony now).

I'm an extrovert who's somehow always clicked with introverts. I love hearing people talk about the things they're passionate about, and I'm happy to listen without being pushy or getting in their way.

Always up for conversations about philosophy, ethics, human behavior, and random hypotheticals.

What I'm looking for:

Someone around my age, or older, who values kindness, effort, and genuine friendship.

Consistency, which i know is hard to come by!

I love conversations where both people are curious about each other and willing to put in a little effort. Just a little. I don't need 24/7, just someone interested enough.

Don't care about your gender, sexuality, religion, or political views. People on the internet are a giant blob to me, so if you're a decent human being and treat me with respect, you'll get the same in return.

Bonus points if you enjoy memes, bad jokes, random thoughts, and sharing interesting things throughout the week.

I'd rather get to know you through Reddit first and then move over to Discord if we click.

Not sure how to start?

• Tell me about your day.

• Recommend a book, movie, or album.

• Share an unpopular opinion.

• Tell me what's been on your mind lately.

If you think we'd get along, I'd love to hear from you.

35M | Europe | Looking for long-term, platonic friendships

Greetings and salutations!

I've met some genuinely wonderful people through posts like these, so naturally, i'm back to see if lightning strikes twice.

First things first: i'm happily married and only looking for platonic friendships.

No NSFW, no flirting, nothing of the sort. Just good, easy going conversations, shared interests, terrible memes, and the kind of friendship that slowly sneaks up on you until you're sending each other random thoughts at 2 p.m. because "you were the first person I thought of."

A little about me:

I love cooking and will absolutely send you photos of food I'm irrationally proud of.

My dog has accepted his role as the main character, so expect surprise dog pictures.

Lost a lot of weight and discovered that i actually enjoy working out (ewww). If you need a progress buddy or someone to celebrate your victories (or complain about leg day with), i'm your guy!

Massive music nerd. Rock, hip hop, soul... especially from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. I can happily lose an hour talking about albums that changed my life.

Outside of that, you'll usually find me reading, watching movies or TV shows, gaming, following football or professional wrestling, or staring lovingly at my physical media collection while quietly resenting Sony and regreting the amount of money i buried in videogames

Personality-wise, i'm an extrovert with a suspiciously good track record of adopting introverts. I enjoy listening to people ramble about whatever they're passionate about, even if it's something i know absolutely nothing about.

I'm also always happy to disappear down rabbit holes about philosophy, ethics, psychology, history, or completely pointless hypothetical questions that somehow become two-hour conversations.

Who am I looking for?

Someone around my age (or older) who's kind, curious, and willing to put a little effort into building an actual friendship.

I don't care about your gender, sexuality, religion, or political views. As far as I'm concerned, everyone on the internet starts as the same mysterious little text box. If you're a decent person who treats others well, we'll probably get along just fine.

Extra points if you enjoy:

• Memes that are objectively terrible.

• Random shower thoughts.

• Sending each other interesting things during the week.

• Laughing at your own bad jokes before anyone else gets the chance.

Not sure how to break the ice?

• Tell me about your day.

• Recommend a book, movie, or album I'll probably end up loving.

• Give me your most harmless unpopular opinion.

• Tell me what's been living rent-free in your head lately.

If you've made it this far, we're already off to a good start. Come say hello. If not, please, enjoy your day and may you find what you seek kind stranger!

35M | Looking for long-term, platonic friendships (28+ preferred)

Greetings and salutations!

I've met some genuinely wonderful people through posts like these, so I'm hoping to meet a few more.

A bit about me:

• I'm from Europe

• I enjoy cooking and sharing food photos.

• I have an 11-year-old dog, and yes, there will be dog pictures.

• I've lost around 50kg over the past couple of years and discovered that I genuinely enjoy working out.

• I'm a music nerd, especially 70s, 80s, and 90s rock, hip hop, and soul.

• I love football, professional wrestling, reading, movies, TV shows, and gaming (i own a lot of physical media and yeah, i'm angry at Sony now).

I don't mind younger than 28, but please, if you're like 22, or less than that, we probably won't have much in common.

I don't care about your gender, sexuality, religion, or political views. People on the internet are a giant blob to me, so if you're a decent human, and treat me with respect, you'll get the same in return.

Bonus points if you enjoy memes, bad jokes, random thoughts, and sharing interesting things throughout the week.

Also, i know (and i hope you offer me the same leeway) tha life sometimes gets in the way, all i seek is consistency, checking in from time to time. You know, an actual friendship.

I prefer Discord eventually, but there's no rush, i would rather get to know you through reddit and then move on towards that.

Someone around my age or older who values kindness, consistency, effort, and honesty. Someone who wants to build an actual connection rather than exchange a handful of messages and disappear.

I don't care about your gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, or political views. What matters to me is how you treat people.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you're having a good day.

[35M] Looking for long-term friendships (around my age, maybe older!)

Greetings and salutations!

I've been lucky enough to meet some genuinely wonderful people through posts like these, so I'm taking another shot and hoping to meet a few more.

I'm looking for long-term, purely platonic friendships with people around my age (28+ preferred, older is absolutely welcome). I value effort, kindness, curiosity, and mutual interest in getting to know each other.

A quick note: I'm happily married and only looking for genuine, platonic friendships. I'm not here for anything NSFW—just good conversations, shared interests, terrible memes, and hopefully building a lasting friendship with some interesting people.

About me

I've always believed that the best way to treat people is the way I'd like to be treated. I'll always respect your opinions, experiences, and perspectives, even if I sometimes come across as argumentative or overly enthusiastic during discussions.

I'm trying to be better at communicating my expectations and boundaries, holding myself accountable, and making my word mean something. I value effort in friendships. I like remembering important details about people and checking in on them from time to time.

Things I enjoy

Cooking – I like to think I'm pretty decent in the kitchen. I'm always happy to share pictures of whatever I've been making.

My dog, Thor – I've had him for almost 11 years. He's family, and yes, there will be photos.

Working out – Two years ago, I decided to make some major lifestyle changes. I weighed around 135kg and have since lost about 50kg. I started eating better, built a home gym, and discovered that I genuinely enjoy exercising. If you're looking for a workout buddy, I'm your guy.

Music – I'm a bit of a music nerd. Most of what I listen to comes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, especially rock, hip hop, and soul. I'm always happy to trade recommendations, discuss albums, or go down a rabbit hole about artists and music history.

Football and professional wrestling – I'm a lifelong football fan (soccer, for the uneducated). Whether it's discussing matches, debating players, celebrating victories, or collectively suffering through terrible performances, I'm always up for football chat. I'm also a big professional wrestling fan i love talking wrestling with people who enjoy it as much as I do.

Reading – I've recently gotten back into reading, and for the first time in years I've actually managed to stick with it. It's been great rediscovering how much I enjoy getting lost in a good book. Feel free to ask me what I'm currently reading—or recommend something you think I should pick up next.

Movies, TV shows, and games – I know everyone says this, but I love discussing media almost as much as consuming it. Character motivations, world-building, moral dilemmas—I'm here for all of it.

Some games I've enjoyed include the Final Fantasy series, Need for Speed, Assassin's Creed, and Medieval II: Total War. I also collect video games, so I have some cool things to show off.

Philosophy, ethics, and hypotheticals – Does free will exist? What does it mean to be a good person? Is pulling the lever in the trolley problem really the most moral choice? I'm not formally educated in philosophy, but I've always enjoyed thinking about and discussing these kinds of questions.

What I'm looking for

Someone with a similar mindset who's around my age (28+ preferred, and older is absolutely welcome).

I'd love to meet someone who enjoys making an effort and genuinely wants to build a friendship. I'm not looking to interview people or be interviewed. Ideally, we'd both be curious about each other's lives and enjoy sharing what's on our minds.

It would be great if we could talk semi-regularly and develop a close, genuine friendship over time.

I don't care about your gender, sexuality, religion, or political views. I'll treat you with respect and kindness, and I hope for the same in return.

I also understand that life happens. There will be busy days, weeks, and periods where replies slow down—and that's perfectly okay.

Bonus points if you enjoy exchanging memes, terrible jokes, random thoughts, dog photos, or the occasional "look at this thing I found" message throughout the week.

A small side note

I prefer Discord. We don't need to voice chat unless you want to, but I'd love to move there once we get to know each other a bit better.

Not sure how to start?

• Tell me about your day or weekend.

• Recommend a movie, book, or show you think i should should experience.

• Tell me an opinion you have that most people disagree with.

• Tell me what's been on your mind lately.

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading.

If you think we might get along, I'd genuinely love to hear from you.
