Restore painting - heavy smokers

Any recommendations on where to restore a painting that went through 3 generations of living rooms with heavy smokers?

Also we don't know much about the painting. It is signed "Major Minor". We also have some cartoons from him that I don't have pictures of.

I believe he was in the military with my great grandpa early 1900s or late 1800s. My GGP later became a lawyer... But don't quote me on the family history.

We have native American heritage.

I don't have the painting so can't take a picture of the back. It will be passed down to me.

I will post a better photo if I get one. But hoping someone can at least answer the restoration question. Painting is in Wisconsin and I'm in texas.

2 of my adult stepkids are moving to live with the mom who abandoned them, and I feel like a fool

Their mom left when they were 2-5. Disappeared for years, then saw them intermittently and eventually sued for custody once we moved 1,000 miles for my better job. Took several hearings — courts lean toward moms by default, and she still no-showed half the dates. $15k in attorney fees on our side, $0 on hers. I've raised these kids since they were 6-10. Vacations, fun stuff, their own rooms, never abusive, always pushing education — I've got $20k+ sitting in a college fund nobody's using. Now they're 18-21 and migrating back to her, one by one — the warm, fun, calls everyone honey parent. My 21-year-old son isn't doing anything up there but says it's "great." My 18-year-old daughter's about to follow. I've got a 17-year-old left and I'm just hoping he doesn't go too. I'm the short, chunky, GenX post-goth, keep-it-real enforcer (business manager). She's tall, skinny, blonde, showed up twice in 10 years (hair salon receptionist). I'm sitting in this big house we bought for them, feeling like the biggest fool alive — like none of the money, time, or sacrifice mattered because they're choosing the parent who was never there and the life of no education. What really gets me: I had no real influence on their lives. I fought for them because I believed they'd be better off with me — that they'd go to college, build something — and they're not. Part of me even wonders if my daughter skipped college partly just because I was so vocal about how greaf it was.

My daughter plans to move there in a few months and I'm tempted to tell her "if it's so great over there, go NOW, don't wait — Im just tired of being the placeholder until the "real" move happens.

Weight loss plateau - Reverse diet advice

Has anyone tried a reverse diet? Want to ask y'all instead of fitness reddits since you'll understand the struggles of short girl weight loss.

5’0”, 125 lbs age 46. Want to get back to 105–115. It's not even a body thing - when I'm over 115 lbs my face starts looking wider and pudgy.

I’ve been tracking consistently with Net Diary for about 9 months and staying around 1200 cals. When I add up whole months of intake versus what I should be burning, I should have lost around 20 lbs by now and I’ve lost nothing.

I’ve read about adaptive thermogenesis — basically your body gets more efficient and lowers how many it burns when you’ve been in a long deficit, so you plateau even though you’re still eating low.

I read you can fix it by eating at true maintenance (for me that would be around 1700) for about 8 weeks and then slowly dropping again.

Has anyone actually done this and had it work?

(Please no other advice on the weight loss other then reverse diet - I have tried it all 😐 under my doctors / nutritionist care)

Listening to music or watching TV in Spanish (Not ready yet)

I swear, if one more person who never tried to learn a second language later in life, or who didn't grow up with parents who spoke Spanish, tells me that if I just listen to Spanish music or watch TV in Spanish I'll become fluent, I will go off.

This is my third attempt in life to learn Spanish... and my longest attempt. I've been doing 4 hours of Spanish class a week for 5 months. The class is really good, and I'm further along than I was in all my other attempts.

At this stage, the best I can do is put something on in English with Spanish subtitles. When I do that, I maybe pick up 25%, but none of the words stick. I'm not learning new vocabulary, and it takes a lot of the fun out of just chilling and watching TV.

I'm also memorizing my first song in Spanish. However, I'm not learning much new vocabulary from that either. I'm finding that the phrases and word order are at a much higher level of Spanish than where I am right now.

Somewhat related, I also listen to Coffee Break Español daily.

My brain hurts. 😭

Batana Oil Experience

Has anyone else tried this?

I found a container of Zentrixa Batana Oil in a bargain bin store and decided to give it a try.

My experience so far:

  • It smells like bad chocolate chips.
  • It's super thick and difficult to apply.
  • It didn't wash out after two washes (with different shampoos) and two rounds of conditioner.
  • Even with conditioner, it was difficult to get a wide-tooth comb through, and I pulled out more hair than usual while detangling.

My hair never really dried and still feels coated. I surprisingly still have my curls but they look greasy and messy.

I have about a week and 2 washdays until I really need to be out in public so hoping there is some delayed benefit. Will update and maybe post some pics but this stuff might be going in the trash.

Table and Chair Set-up Recommendations

I want to create a cozy puzzle/game area in my living room entryway. I'd like it to be cat-proof, look nice, and stay under a $300 budget.

I'm thinking about getting two memory foam floor chairs and a small table, but I'm worried about matching the table height to the chairs. Does anyone have recommendations for furniture or complete setups that work well together? If I try to piece everything together myself, it'll probably take forever.

Does anyone want to meet up before the show tonight. I flew in for it and want to find a good crew of die harda to link up with.

Concerts turn into a bad experience for me when I'm surrounded by people who don't know the band.

I'm staying in the downtown area and play to take one of the red rocks shuttles.
