New to FDM, can anyone identify the cause of a few snagging issues?

So I’m doing some research but thought someone here maybe able to identify this issue as I’m getting a bit overwhelmed with what I may need to adjust. I also think I’ve got 2 issues here.

Issue 1, the surfaces of my prints seem to be getting gouged. When I switch to BALANCED speed it seems to be better, but not 100% gone.

Issue 2, the spaghetti stringing. This is where I’m getting a bit overwhelmed, my spool has been opened for a few hours from new and most of my research seems to point to to much moisture in the spool. But it’s like newly opened so not sure if this is the issue?

Any help on the wound be greatly appreciated!

Some details:
- I’m using Elegoo Rapid PETG.
- I’m using orca slicer recommend print settings on the strength profile apart from infil density upped from 20>30%.
- I used the default auto supports that were under the spaghetti picture part.
- I’m on a brand new CC1
- I performed the 30min self test that all cleared before printing
- I’ve been running between balanced and sport speed profile.

Is the E1 worth it for my use case?

So in short, I want to produce watch dials for a small business I am trying to set up.

Realistically I won’t be doing any sort of large volume. We are talking max 20 units per month but realistically more like 5.

Is the resolution able to print the level of quality and very fine detail of a watch dial?

What sorts of costs am I likely to encounter? I see how much the ink is. How many dials would a cartridge last?

Also what’s reliability like? I see a lot of issues related to reliability but am also thinking that only the ones having issues post. There are likely a lot more that are having 0 issues!

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Having issues with FinWatch Straps…

Ordered a Black Sailcloth strap from the website, specifically from the ready to ship section…

They took my money, got the email saying my strap is being prepared. Then, got another email about an hour later saying that the strap is not in stock and unavailable. They offered me a strap I didn’t want instead.

I replied asking when the strap I paid for would be in stock, but no reply.

Followed up the next day, still no reply.

Followed up again asking to just cancel my order and requested refund. No reply.

I wanted to support an independent strap maker and their items are well priced and look great…

But as it stands, they’ve taken my money, and are not responding to my emails and I have no watch strap and no refund.

What are my options here for getting my money back? I’ve not been in this scenario before!

Birthday present from my wife!

I normally talk AT my wife about watches. They are really not her thing at all. My first watch, a sub $100 Seiko 5 was pushing the limits of what a watch is worth.

A day after my birthday passed she sat me down and started reeling off all sorts of watch knowledge at me, (beat rates, automatic vs quartz and brands that the average person just wouldn’t know of), and then she gave me the box.

I was blown away not just by the amount of thought she had put into this, but also the model aswell.

I’ve been hankering for a TV big date for AGES so the fact she got that model was just crazy. Also, I would NEVER have chosen this colour way either. But now I see it on my wrist I love it.

We even went back to the AD next day to try on some of the other models, but I realised that if I left without this one, I would leave disappointed. Feel like I have mentally bonded with it.

I’m glad to finally be joining the Mido fam! And top marks for my wife.

Khaki Field Auto out in the, field?

Went on holiday to Sri Lanka, felt like I needed a proper field watch.

In its element!

Minor dink on the plane but I’m not too precious.

Love it.

After a lot of fine tuning, here is my prototype watch… what do we think?

Ok so I posted here a bit a few months back with some 3d printed resin prototypes. I got great feedback and went back to the drawing board… more than once!

I finally came up with a design that I was happy with but was also mechanically sound and sent it off for printing/milling. Here are the results!

I’ve been a bit obsessed with having a 3DP nylon case body enclosed within steel or ALU top ring and case back. In my head the 2 tone effect worked and now seeing it on the flesh, I really like it. But I could of course be viewing my creation with rose tinted spectacles…

In any case, (pun) what do we think of this design wise?

What do you like /not like?

Specs:
Lug: 20mm
Lug to Lug: 51mm
Dial: 30mm custom
42mm x 41mm case

ALU 7075 top-ring and case-back
PA12 SLS Printed case body
Will fit a motors 9015 6H movement (when it arrives)

PS: apologies for the cheap strap, it’s what I had lying around in 20mm

PPS: yes the screws shouldn’t stick out like that, i got these to test thread compatibility and will have thinner headed screws that sit flush with the case going forward.

PPPS: case isn’t finished as you can tell.
