R36S family in 2026 — what are ALL the models, and which one is actually the best upgrade from the original R36S?

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to understand the whole R36S family, because there seem to be a ridiculous number of models now and the naming is extremely confusing.

I know about:

  • R36S
  • R36H
  • R36XX
  • R36 Plus
  • R36 Max
  • R36 Ultra
  • R36 Ultra X
  • R36 Max 2
  • R36H ProMax / R45H
  • R36 Pro
  • R36S Ultra

Are there any other models/variants that I'm missing?

What I'm particularly interested in is which ones are actually hardware upgrades from the original R36S, rather than just having a different shell or a bigger screen.

I'm especially confused about RK3326 vs RK3566.

From what I've found, the original R36S/R36H/R36XX generation uses RK3326 + 1GB RAM, while some R36 Max/Ultra versions apparently use RK3566 + 2GB, which would actually be a significant performance upgrade rather than just a cosmetic change.

But I've also seen people saying that some newer R36 Ultra/Ultra X models still use RK3326 + 1GB, so I'm not sure which listings are accurate.

PortMaster games that ran fine on R36S won't run on TrimUI Smart Pro (CrossMix OS) — anyone else?

So I upgraded from my R36S to a TrimUI Smart Pro, mainly for better performance and screen quality. On the R36S I had a bunch of PortMaster titles running solid: GTA San Andreas, CS 1.6, a few others, no real issues.

Now I've got CrossMix OS installed on the Smart Pro and I'm trying to get the same games running, and honestly most of them just don't work. Some don't launch at all, some crash on boot.

Is this a CrossMix OS limitation, or is PortMaster itself just less mature on this device?

Is there a better OS for PortMaster compatibility on the Smart Pro (ArkOS? muOS? something else)?

Any known workaround for getting ports to actually show up/launch properly?

Would really appreciate any pointers from people who've been through this already instead of me reinventing the wheel port by port. Thanks in advance 🙏

Best OS for R36S in 2026 + is there a multiboot combo with Linux AND Android better than ArkOS+LineageOS?

What's currently the best OS for R36S in 2026? Seeing mixed opinions between ArkOS (most tested/stable) and ROCKNIX (newer, more actively developed, nicer UI). Anyone switched recently and noticed a real difference in performance/compatibility?

Is multiboot the only way to get Linux + Android together, or are there other combos/setups people are running? Is ArkOS and LineageOS only way or ?

Upgraded my SD card to a bigger one from the same manufacturer, same brand/type as before. Flashed the R36S-Multiboot image again, and everything works fine — ArkOS all boot normally. The only thing that won't launch is LineageOS (Android) through the multiboot menu. Just stuck at logo then R36S turns off, while it worked fine on my old card.

Thanks.

Best way to import Retroid Pocket 6 to Serbia (non-EU) — via friend in Slovenia (EU) or friend buying directly in China?

Hey everyone,

I live in Serbia, which is not in the EU, so ordering directly usually means dealing with customs/import duties and sometimes sketchy shipping times. I have two options and I'm trying to figure out which makes more sense:

  1. Ship to a friend in Slovenia (EU) and have them forward it / bring it to me. Would this avoid the worst of the customs headache since it'd already be inside the EU, or does it just move the problem to when it crosses into Serbia?
  2. A friend of mine is actually going to China soon and could buy the RP6 directly there (maybe even cheaper than retail) and bring it back with him.

Has anyone here dealt with either of these routes? Specifically:

  • Any experience ordering from goretroid.com (official site) shipped to an EU address vs buying in China directly (Taobao/JD/local store)?
  • Any hidden costs I should expect either way (VAT, DHL remote fees, etc.)?

Appreciate any first-hand experience, thanks!

carFlo - Using Supabase for offline-first mobile app

Built carFlo on Supabase. Use case: log fuel and services offline, sync when back.

Setup:

  • Auth with email OTP
  • RLS policies per user_id
  • Storage for receipt photos with 5MB limit
  • RPC function for GDPR delete account (required by Apple)

Biggest win: Realtime for multi-device sync.
Biggest pain: conflict resolution when user logs fuel on two phones offline.

Free tier handles ∼500 active users fine. Happy to share RLS policies if useful.

Shipped my first iOS app - carFlo

Hey iOS devs,

I just shipped carFlo to the App Store – it's a car logbook app, but the interesting part is it's not SwiftUI. It's a React + TypeScript web app wrapped with Capacitor.

I built it because I was tired of losing service receipts in my glovebox. Free version covers 1 car with basic fuel and service logging. Pro unlocks unlimited cars, CSV export, photo receipts and cloud sync. All handled through RevenueCat so I didn't have to fight StoreKit directly.

Honestly, the App Store review was rougher than the code – account deletion, sandbox restores, local notifications wording. If anyone is stuck on RevenueCat + Capacitor setup, happy to share my review notes and the exact config that finally passed.

Would love to hear your suggestions – what would you do differently for a Capacitor app on iOS? Any tips for making the native feel less "webby"?

Hope someone here finds it useful, even just as a reference for shipping a non-native app.

Thanks!

carFlo – car cost tracking, built solo.

Problem: I had no idea what my car really cost per month. Spreadsheets broke, existing apps were bloated.

Solution: carFlo – a tiny iOS app that acts as a digital logbook.

Model:

  • Free: 1 car, basic fuel and service logging
  • Pro: monthly/yearly – unlocks unlimited cars, unlimited entries, business mileage tracking, photo receipts, VIN storage, CSV export, iCloud sync

Target: private drivers with high mileage, families with 2+ cars, taxi/delivery drivers, small fleets. Basically anyone who needs proof of maintenance for resale.

Solo dev, no funding.

Traction: just launched on iOS, zero ads. Android version shipping next week.

What I'm testing: is $3/mo too much for "peace of mind you won't forget an oil change"? Would you pay yearly to get export for your mechanic?

Open to brutal feedback on pricing and positioning.

I made carFlo – a digital logbook that replaced my glovebox full of receipts

After losing my service history for the third time, I finally built my own car app.

carFlo is basically a digital service book. It tracks fuel ups and gives you real L/100km or MPG, logs every service and repair, reminds you about registration, insurance and oil changes by date OR mileage, and lets you snap photos of receipts so you actually have proof when you sell.

I built it for myself first because spreadsheets got messy. Core tracking is free forever – one car, basic logs.

I added a Pro version for people like me with 2 cars and a work van: unlimited cars, unlimited fuel and service entries, unlimited reminders, business trip tracking, VIN/chassis storage, photo receipts, full CSV export and iCloud sync. It's a simple monthly or yearly sub.

It's iOS only right now, Android is almost done.

Took me about a year solo. Curious what you think – would you actually use something like this?

  • kilometraža (uneseš početno i krajnje stanje)

  3. Šta vam najviše fali u postojećim aplikacijama?

Hvala.

LineageOS won’t boot on R36S multiboot setup — console shuts off after logo

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a multiboot setup on my R36S with LineageOS and ArkOS. ArkOS works perfectly fine, but I’m having issues getting LineageOS to boot.

When I press FN + A to launch LineageOS, the LineageOS logo appears and starts loading, but then the console just shuts off completely.

What changed before this started happening:

I swapped out the microSD card that LineageOS was on — went from a 32GB to a 128GB card. ArkOS is on a separate 256GB card. Both are ADATA, same model, just different capacities.

Everything was working fine before the card swap.

Has anyone run into this before? Could it be a partition issue, or does LineageOS need to be re-flashed onto the new card? Any help is appreciated!

U potrazi sam za polovnim autom, budžet mi je 6.000 – 8.000 €, i jedan od glavnih kriterijuma mi je što bogatija serijska oprema.

Marka mi nije toliko bitna– bitno mi je da auto ima npr:

- Multifunkcionalni volan
- Multimedija (ekran na dodir)
- Apple CarPlay / Android Auto
- Kamera
- Parking senzori (prednji + zadnji)
- LED svetla
itd itd.

Hvala unapred! 🙏
