Using 7th gen linkages on a 6th gen

Unable to find a new 6th gen linkage i decided to buy 7th gen (even used 6th gen are 300+ and the new 7th gen was 40) and they look like they are similar enough (going to try installing momentary).

I will report back with my accessible failure.

I have already had to cut the rubber holding the two together because the hole in the floor is different but I plan on moving it over from my old one

(Pictured is one damaged 6th gen linkage and two new 7th gens)

Update: it did not work, for two reasons
First: the place where the cable mounts to the transmission is other too thick/ the milled out bore isn’t big enough or the bit around the cable is too thick. I think it would be possible to put a cut down the middle of the mount on the transmission so you could slide the retaining tab but reaching in there with the car in the vehicle is impossible atleast as long as the head is on the engine
Second: the “side to side” cable is too long for the transmission , the inner cable is too long so you would have to notch out the suspension tower panel and weld a slightly longer arm on the transmission (or cut and weld the interior side of the cable guess)

That being said if these problems could be fixed then perhaps someone could start making adapted 7th gen cables for 6th gen owners since they are impossible to come by

S54 6th gen won’t shift into 2,4,R

Like the title says I am having trouble getting into any gear where I pull back on the lever. I’ve pulled apart the console and everything is good here it feels really mushy when I pull back. Shifting feel is the same with engine on and off, clutch is only a few thousand mile new so it’s nothing like that I think it’s cable or bushing related. Anyone have any experience with this?

About 8k miles on them, bought from pandamotorsport pre-gapped.

Have noticed a non-smooth idle but driving feels normal
