How often do you as DMs homebrewnew spells to make a plot point work?

I've got an idea for my campaign but it involves a cadaver resurrecting while in enemy territory. I am certain there are no spells that cover this which means I would homebrew it. Would this go against the DM-PLAYER social contract if I did?

edit: Here's the effect I want to create:

The players are holed up in Bahamut's palace in Mount Celestia, beseiged by the forces of Orcus who want his wand back. Orcus's side will send them the corpse of the envoy they parlayed with, seemingly as a sign of their displeasure, but at some point hours later if the party doesn'tdestroy the corpse immediately, the envoy will resurrect and unlock the front gates from within. Considering it's Orcus's faction (Orcus himself is not there) I thought it sounded reasonable.

Need help with a Moroccan Bazaar aesthetic

I liked all of the event participation items from July, and now see that the Moroccan Bazaar items are in the furniture-building menu. I want to put something together but my imagination's coming up blank, especially since there aren't any terrains that have the desert aesthetic. So I'm looking for inspiration! Made any cool marketplaces or houses or stalls that I might check out?

[Supergirl 2026] How does Krem know that kryptonite is a Kryptonian's one weakness?

Krem the bandit shoots Kara with a kryptonite arrow, but since there are only two Kryptonians in the universe, how did anyone know what their weaknesses were? Seems kind of odd to have a weapon handy that can only be used against two beings in the entire universe?

Hex 1/Wizard 11 (2014) gear and magic items

My friends are playing a one-shot soon, level 12 2014 rules. I was thinking of remaking an older character (Hex 1/Evoc Wiz 11), whose schtick was casting Hex Warrior, and blasting everything with souped-up Magic Missiles. This is basically going to be my only contribution to the party as we'll have a Scribes Wizard 12, and an Arti 1/Chron 11.

Problem is, I have no idea how to kit the character out. We're allowed 1 rare magic item, and can purchase more with our starting gold. What should I go for?

Is there a culture or race where one sex is conventionally and generally seen as imbalancedly "more attractive" than the other?

Some caveat: my friends and I are from over half a dozen ethnicities and nations, all living in Japan. Recently we got on the topic of foreigner men, especially Caucasian males, fetishizing Japanese women; but we also discussed their counterpart, the gaijin hunters, or women who date exclusively foreigners (of all races). That kinda led to the title question, which I told my friends I'd ask on here.

I'm running a ttrpg campaignset in Eternia's ancient history. What should I include in the setting.

The game is set in Eternia's past, 1X00 years back, so that He-Man and friends can't show up to steal the spotlight. I'm not super familiar with Eternia's lore and geography, having only seen the 80s cartoon when I was >10 years old, but for those who've delved deep in the media, what are some people, places or moments in Eternia history I should definitely visit?

The main crux of the campaign is that the players, all from a podunk backwater village, have passed a ritual and become Masters of the Universe, elite soldiers under Eternos' queen (kinda like knights of theRound Table). The sorceress is a morally grey antagonist who hoards wisdom, and magic relics from Eternia's other tribal civilizations, because she believes it's her moral imperative these items must be protected from their own peoples, making the campaign secretly one about imperialism and colonialism, and class warfare. The other societies I'm including are the Thunderrans (Thundercats), the Sectoids (Sectaurs), the Gintori (Silver Hawks) and I think the Cybicons (slightly smaller Transformers, but I'm not sure if they've made the cut yet), each with their own relics the Sorceress sends them out to fetch.

Outgunned better for short campaigns?

I've read all over Reddit that Outgunned is not really suitable for longer campaigns because characters do not really improve or change much. I'm wondering how true that is, so I'm asking the folks I think would be most knowledgeable on the topic. Nothing wrong with short campaigns, but I seem completely unable to create short games.

How did we get the word "crane," meaning heavy lifting machinery?

Is it derived from "to stretch," or is it its resemblance to the long-necked bird, or something else entirely?
