Editor trade for doctoral thesis

Anyone interested in editing my doctoral thesis while I edit theirs?

I’m a good writer but I’m too emotionally close to my text to edit it efficiently.

I had a great editor but it’s too expensive at the moment.

The Vampire Lestat Analysis | Was Queer/Gay Romance Downplayed or Censored?

Ok thoughts...

The influencer argues that TVL downplayed queer sexuality, especially in contrast to IWTV.

This video prompted me to reflect, as I hadn't thought of it while watching.

Her reasoning: quantifiably less overt queer sexuality on screen this season. more hetero sex scenes depicted, particularly centering Gabriela. the lighting of the scenes showing the romance between Lestat and Nicholas dimmed in contrast to other intimate scenes.

I personally had thought it was a wise choice to show Lestat exploring his friendship with Louis, especially with Lestat dealing with his traumatic experiences of being objectified: by his mother, Magnus, even Larry. And coming to terms with himself as valuable and worthy of love, beyond being a body.

However, the video -- and comments discussing below -- beg the question, was queer sex downplayed in S3 and was it due to the political climate or an attempt to expand the fandom?

What do you guys think about the creative decision? Or do you think it's much ado about nothing?

Is there an evil older than you?

Firstly Gabriela’s question towards Armand I find incredibly funny.

I feel she was getting at, what’s the tea Armand? But as he didn’t answer her. Can we?

So far we’ve been introduced to Akasha, Enkil, Amel, Marius and Magnus. Where do Lestat and Armand fit into these “labyrinthine” social structures?

Would any understanding of vampire lineage and factions make clearer what has already been shown in S1-3 but which a better understanding-of might enrich future rewatches.

Can we have a geeked chat on vampire culture, clans, and mythology. Thanks so much for generous Redditors who been sharing vital backstory as we proceed. 💜 I just love talking about the show and don’t want to stop. 💙 Thank you. 🖤

Ok to add an example. Is there inter-coven beef? Higher status lineages? It seems Magnus did not directly obtain queens blood but stole it. He also deserted Armand’s coven —surely this impacts something about Lestat and how he and his fledglings would be received by other vampires. If Armand wasn’t so taken in by both men, perhaps they would have not been welcomed or respected. What do y’all think? I want the chisme/gossip

Anyone willing to go down the Armand rabbit hole?

This scene in S2E4 upon rewatch provides key insights into the dynamic of Louis and Armand's relationship. Although Armand admittedly manipulated Louis' mind in 1973, it does not seem, from this scene, that Armand regularly invaded Louis' thoughts. He seemed genuinely heartbroken here upon his realization, or perhaps, acceptance of a truth he had long denied, that Louis would never love him as fully and unconditionally as he would Lestat, no matter how many years they spent together, how many romantic getaways, however he might indulge Louis in his extra-marital dalliances. The inner fortitude Armand demonstrates reads to me as a genuine attempt to rekindle his own humanity through Louis' forgiveness. By standing by Louis while he reminisces fondly about Lestat being the best sexual partner he's ever had, the happier times of marital bliss when they had reared a child together. Even the romanticized presentation of Lestat's offering of the dark gift as a choice, and Louis willingly joining Lestat to be his eternal partner -- must have been extremely confronting for Armand's own unhealed transformation trauma. Consent was a 20th century invention. Yet he remains by Louis' side, in what I read as an attempt to project his unconditional love, knowing that the interview is heading towards Louis' final test: in the end, will Louis choose Armand knowing his full monstrosity?

Louis describing Dreamstat:

Louis to Daniel: Would you like to know what it felt like?

Daniel: yah

Armand: 🙄

Louis: I could feel the movement of air with his movements. His breath on the back of my neck. If I were to reach out and touch his hand. I wouldn’t say it was his hand. But it was not not his hand.

Armand: 😞

Daniel to Armand: You weren’t feeling Lestat in the room?

Armand: No. And I was not aware he was as present as it seems he was.

…

Daniel: The vampire bond.

___

I think this scene provides loads of context for interpreting the S3 finale. Armand apparently takes the rejection quite hard. And seems to have made the choice to double down on his dim view of himself, as well as the projection by others, as the Gremlin, burning away the last remaining embers of his humanity.

I hope that Armand gets the same self-reconciliation with his monstrosity that Lestat received in S3 in future season(s).

Fanfic Louis Lestat bridging S2&3 NSFW

Anyone else desperate for content to carry us through the next season?

Specifically fanfic. Does anyone have a story/author they recommend?

I’ll start. This one or this one are a quick read. NSFW. Imagining what might have happened between S2 and S3 between Louis and Lestat if they decided to try again.

Lestat to Louis: “If I thought you wanted me there, I would have run to you. I would have crawled to you.” 🫠

🖤 🖤 🖤 Louis Armand Fanfic
If this is your thing, here’s a Louis/Armand story set during S3 if Armand actually sought genuine Armends. Beautiful, chaste, but intimate alternative to S3Ep7: closure without Loumand as endgame.

“He feels ashamed about it, sometimes. How often he comes back home to the bedroom they used to share, taking comfort in the lingering echoes of that companionship, knowing he ripped that same comfort out from under Armand’s feet. Louis probably has that in common with half of all divorcees: it feels weird, when you keep the house.”

These vampires are just so heart achingly relatable 🥹
