Food catering
Hi!
I’m hosting about 10–12 people at my place and need recommendations for really good, somewhat fancy food that I can order for an early dinner party.
I might need to pretend I made some of it so my guests won’t get offended LOL
TIA

Hi neighbors! This group rocked with moving advice so figured I’d reach out again.
Who are we calling to get houses rekeyed? Closing on the 24th and would like to get new locks.
Coming to Northwest Philly, for what it’s worth. Thank you for being nice to this newbie from Colorado :’)
Does anyone know of any nursing homes in Philly that pay for you to get a CNA certificate? I want to become one, but am teetering between paying out of pocket for courses or just going to a nursing home and getting the training. Thank you!
I liked heritage when it was around, anything that’s a good place with nice visual vibes? Preferably in nolibs not fishtown, I know fishtown had a bunch of good spots, was wondering if maybe I’m unaware of any spots here where I’m at
I just very recently heard about the festival going on in center city next month, and I'm very interested in attending, however I have next to zero knowledge of what goes on outside of the traditional dances. I feel like I should definitely know since this will be my first date with the girl that I'm talking with.
There is so much food on our street. I’m not talking a chick fil a bag that’s empty. I’m talking chicken wings, a whole pizza, rice, candy, etc. and it’s like every day there’s more food. For context we’re in the northern liberties area about 5 minutes from fish town. Is this a problem in just our street? Or all of Philly? Do we need to move to the suburbs? We didn’t care as much but we got a dog and walks are becoming extremely difficult when we’re worried about him potentially ingesting broken bones.
***I’m not a college student, in case that makes any difference.
Hello, I’m wondering if there tend to be any areas that people tend to choose if they’re young, kind of bohemian, and interested in the arts and music scene. For people familiar with Bushwick you probably know what I mean. My top priority is affordable rent ($800 per month at most and preferably lower than that). Ideally there would also be a lot of coffeehouses, live music, arts events, and reliable public transit within walking distance.
Hello, I’ll be moving to the Philly area for work but my job is located in KOP. I really want to experience city living but everyone advises to live closer to work because traffic can be killer. I’m 30F and single so feeling safe is a factor but I also want to enjoy the area I live in. Any recommendations? Should I move to KOP? Any areas in between the two that won’t be a terrible commute?
Hi, I’m flying into Philly and my guy is going to pick me up. He wants to meet me inside and park at short term parking. He’s concerned that his truck might be too tall for the 6’2 requirements. I’m thinking he should be able to park in an area that not in garage based off this YouTube video. I’m coming in at 6am so I’m not thinking it’s going to be crowded.
Does he need to worry about the height of the garage?
Hello!
My sister is visiting me in Philly and it's her birthday soon! She loves Harry Potter and nature and wanted to know if there's anything HP themed or something of the vibe (like cute stone bricked cafes in nature or something)?
Let me know what feels magical and pretty to you that could fit the theme!
Thank you in advance :)
I may be visiting Philly and wanted to see what people there think are interesting places to go/things to do. I don't travel often and want to make the most of it. (My initial desire to go is to see the Mutter Museum and I am not really a fan of 'patriotic' history stuff.) Any recommendations?

Just bought a place that is otherwise pretty nice, but the AC is always less-great on the 2nd floor. The thermostat is located on the 2nd floor and it's a new, properly-sized HVAC system, so I suspect inadequate or nonexistent insulation on the top is likely to blame.
My initial research suggested the best way to do this is a kind of insulation that goes under the roof, and requires a roof replacement. The roof is brand new, so I don't really want to do that.
Has anyone done something like this without ripping the roof off?
Good morning, I (25M) am looking to get a new job and move to the Philadelphia area to move in with my gf (27F). I am originally from West Chester and don’t wanna go back bc I’ve already been there done that. My gf work in West Chester and I plan on working in Philly. I have been looking at media (love the train into the city) for convenience or manayunk for a city like feel. Open to advice, I feel like I’m gonna miss the city life… please leave suggestions on cool spots
Things I value:
- walkability
- going out for drinks / food
- camping / outdoors (understand I’ll need to travel for this)
- historic architecture
- people my age
Hey everyone! I'm looking to move and searching for apartments near Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media. I'm not too picky, just looking for a safe, quiet area that is no more than a 30 min commute one way. Also, are there any apartment complexes/management companies you recommend or I should avoid? Thanks!
Moving to Metro Philly this fall for a biotech/tech gig. I am eastern Mediterranean, mid 30s M, bi, and musician too so wondering how international music 🎶 is. Do folks go to NYC a lot to even expand the cultural experiences?
I found a place in KOP, love the quiet and convenience (also had EV charging, amazing) coming from Midwest 😆, the town center was cool. Wondering how bad it is to get to the city let’s say at lunch time during day or after dinner. I will be working in Spring House.
I also play squash, so any recommendations there would be great.
I used to live in NYC and NC so east cost felt natural when I was just there. The food is so good too. Also how racist or homophobic different areas of city and king of Prussia it is?
Thank you!!
*forgot to add I have self driving with Tesla, emptied the bank lol but I am hooked, less hassle with traffic.
hey neighbors, I am helping my mother in law who is a recovering hoarder. We have cleaned out her house and we are down to the worst part, which was her room.
She has some underlying mental health issues and has been mostly cooperative with the clean. She wants better for herself. I think she deserves a new room and I would like to gift her a makeover but we only have so much money.
She would need a new floor, deep clean of her walls, I’d like to get her a bedroom set and mattress.
I was just wondering what resources are available in philly and if anyone has been in a similar situation with a loved one and where they went to get stuff?
Obviously I know thrift stores but I just wondering if there are any other affordable services in the area.
If you can think or know of anything outside of the box we would appreciate it
Im trying to get a neurology appointment but there are no doctors available at Penn not Jefferson. What the hell do people do when there's no doctors, travel out of state? Ive never experienced this before.
I’m moving with my Family (Wife, 2 kids elementary age, Me) to Philadelphia from Orlando in October.
We’ve been looking into it extensively and Philadelphia looks amazing from what we can see so far. Currently we’re looking to move to the West Philadelphia area and are interested in renting, at least a 2 br 1 bath. We would like to spend no more than 1700-1800 a month as that’s around what we’re paying now.
As for employment, we’re coming from the retail/customer service/office admin career fields but we don’t have anything lined up at the moment and will be looking as soon as we get there. However, we have plenty enough savings to last for a while before that becomes a dire issue.
Was wondering a few things as we have never been to the city and are moving purely off of research and planning:
Is West Philadelphia/Philadelphia a good place to raise a family? Specifically, a Black family? (Black, mixed race family coming from the deep conservative regressive south so looking for essentially an environment completely opposite of that)
How is the job market? Could we find employment easily with our background?
What are the schools in west Philadelphia like? We are a neurodiverse family with academically gifted kids so looking for a system that uplifts, challenges and encourages.
What’s the cost of living? Grocery, gas, utilities, entertainment price averages.
I have a ton more questions I’m sure but I know this is already a lot so I’ll see if we can start here so anyone with any feedback or insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Goldtex residents are living in 85° plus temps and the city isn’t doing anything. Anyone have a similar experience? How can they be allowed to operate if the place is uninhabitable? I don’t get it… maybe someone else can explain it better.
