I got this given to me in my change today, I’ve actually never seen one before
Not sure if they are common or rare
I got it in a random bag of coins, what grade/value does it have in this condition?
Never been cleaned. Side of lounge over 20 years. Why so shiny?
Does anyone know the price that this penny would be
Found these in our new (used) car.
No idea what they are, the oval shaped one appears to have a crocodile with some writing on it supporting the crocodile theory.
The other one is completely unknown to me.
Thanks
Will this then possibly make the original set highly collectible?
I got tired of messy Excel spreadsheets, so I spent the last few months trying to code a custom inventory web app for my son and me.
I thought it would be genius to integrate an AI vision engine to instantly identify the coins and pull live market data. But as you can see from the screenshot, the AI is currently convinced that a standard 12-sided cupro-nickel 50c is a round 1966 80% silver piece.
I guess this is proof that tech still can't replace actual numismatic knowledge. Back to the drawing board to figure out how to teach a robot the difference between a circle and a dodecagon!
I decided to build a browser app to help my son keep track of his coin collection. One of the coolest features we just added to it is the ability to generate "Hunt Reports."
It basically compares your personal inventory against the master research database and builds a custom checklist of the specific coins you are missing - including errors, special commemoratives, and low-mintage dates.
You can print them out or just look at them on your phone when you're visiting coin fairs, hitting the banks, or digging through flea markets. You can generate them unlimited times for a small annual fee with FREE trial, and you can customize them with special search filters so you are only hunting for what you actually want.
(I blurred the specific values and mintages in the screenshot just so it isn't a spoiler, but you get the idea!)
Let me know if you're interested in checking it out for free (via the free trial) and I can send you the link.
(Admins: Hope this OK? - if not happy to remove, or change by your guidance!)
I was recently gifted this coin. I'm curious about its history and if maybe there's meant to be some significance to being gifted this coin in particular. (I hate to think I may have missed the point). Any clue what it might be worth too? EDIT: I forgot to mention that it looks like black spots in the photos, but those are actually really shiny spots 😮
I just got the most updated renniks and went to my coin collection and got through the loose ones I’ve carded and put into plastic sleeves decimal & pre-decimal) got too finish off all the pre decimal 5c, 10c and $2 and even that was an effort. Tomorrow I intend to get stuck into my carded coins PNC’s mint sets etc point of story is while enjoyable it’s a tiring task
I’ve had these coins for sometime when I bought them, wondering how much they’re worth approx, probably gonna sell them soon.
My dad loved his coins but sold much of his collection before he passed. I’m now clearing some of his stuff and can across these (cigar?) boxes of Pennie’s. The full ones are heavy! I saw a couple from 1912 but many go all the way up to the 1950s. Any suggestions as to which years I should look out for or what to do with them?
Got the 1994 proof set today, very nice coins here!
Very stunning 50c commemorative!
Now I need to get 1990, 1998-99 to finally get all the proof sets from the 90’s! I can do this!
Not a collector or anything, so I know nothing about coin condition, and don't want to learn just to grade one coin. Rough estimate is fine, not really planning in selling. Sorry about picture quality, my phone camera has no lens.
Got this one in loose change a few years back and can't find any info on it. Gold coloured/plated 1970 James Cook 50 cent stamped. Any info and value would great. Is it a keeper?
