There is a Rogue Core subreddit

Can we separate the discussion of DRG and Rogue Core between their named subreddits? Why is everyone still posting RC questions and content in the DRG sub?

Let. People. Criticize Rouge Core.

I love this community, but I hope you dwarves don't fall into the pitfall of Tribalism & Toxic positivity.

Oftentimes when people read a game review, a question that may come up is: "What gives you the right to critique my game?". The 9000 hours they've spent in DRG or other roguelite games serve as their answers to that question. It shows that they have enough knowledge & experience in order to construct their feedback.

You can have fun with Rogue Core, but "fun" should never be used as an excuse to silence criticism. Game companies are not your friend. In order to gain trust they have to deliver a good product, and feedback, whether positive or negative, is necessary for Ghost Ship Games to improve the game.

Rock and Stone!

I feel like people are becoming very rapidly dismissive criticism of Rogue Core because 'It's not Deep Rock Galactic'.

Pretty much any time anyone brings up the criticism that Rogue Core is receiving, there are just as many people saying that 'they shouldn't have expected DRG 2' or some variant thereof. However, the problem there is there's plenty of people with criticism of the game that's entirely valid and based solely on what Rogue Core actually is that is being dismissed by people because they bring up DRG at all.

To be utterly frank, Rogue Core genuinely does have issues right now in my experience. It's not that it doesn't feel like DRG, or that it's a roguelite. It has real problems that you can feel just from playing the game.

Just... actually listen to what people have to say when they don't like the game? Even if their criticism does include the phrase 'It's not like DRG', there's a big difference between "it doesn't play like an updated DRG" and "It lacks aspects that were present in DRG and it feels worse as a result".

Unpopular take: Rogue core is good, but it needs to lean harder into the roguelite genre— not try harder to be DRG

Frankly, the bones are well fleshed out: DRG’s combat system, biome diversity, and enemy selection make the pivot to a roguelite easy and sensible.

I don’t see anything wrong with the timer that many have voiced frustration over. Roguelites are designed to be fast paced.

What rogue core struggles to do is maintain that pace UNTIL you hit the death timer. Frankly, the game needs endless spawn like (risk of rain) that rewards points for each enemy killed combined with a personal upgrade barter system that is superimposed over all of the current systems (shared barter, equipment, weapon, terminals).

We need shields (not armor). We need passive health regeneration. We need base weapons with unlimited ammo.

Rogue core has the potential to be an absolute unit of a FPS roguelite; but ghost ship needs to commit to the genre fully.

Edit: Many of you who dislike the weapon and equipment suggestions are not connecting that the suggestions are designed to accommodate a gameplay loop that utilizes endless wave.

You can still have an ammo economy for large, useful weapons that is not trivialized by a baseline ranged weapon with unlimited ammo because of endless spawn. Without some sort of baseline, unlimited ammo kit— the entire gameplay loop would consist of hunting for ammo in an endless wave environment.

The primary suggestion of this post is to implement endless wave. It is the opinion of the OP that leaning into the roguelite, endless wave would fill the void left by the lack of whimsy and exploratory depth that DRG enjoys.

Rogue Core is literally unplayable.

I load in to Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core expecting a game true to the spirit of Deep Rock Galactic & I find one thing to be completely lacking. Barrels. I searched high & low only to find a vile dearth of barrels. I cannot kick the barrels, I cannot take them on the drop pod, I cannot throw them into the launch tube. Literally unplayable, smh my head.

Now that Rouge Core is out, what are people's thoughts for the first day? (Keeping in mind its early access.)

I only got the tutorial and one run done, so I dont have many opinions on it from my playtime (idk how others are doing, but I thought I'd still ask.) I'm just glad I get to rock and stone with new content at my own pace!

Take a break from all the posts about the early access game being flawed and instead look at how much damage I did during this run

Why is it so low?

I have been a big fan of drg for a while, I've seen so many positive things said about deep core but the reviews are horrid.

I won't get around to playing it for a while due to things like subnautica 2 and personal projects but I'd just like to know what's the issue with it with a more generalized opinions than steam reviews which can vary wildly in quality
