So we have this Siemens range hood in our apartment that, when turned on, will just make a lot of noise whilst not sucking in any air for about a minute, before i hear a soft "thud", and literally feel the pressure in the room drop, as the sound becomes normal again and it vents properly.

I'm thinking that maybe it has a kind of gravity powered trapdoor that prevents drafts and pests from outside from coming in, and that it's probably covered in grease and therefore sticking?

It's done this for as long as we've lived here, but it was always only a couple of seconds, so we thought it was part of the design or something.

I did recently de-greased the filters, and the actual fan housing was CAKED in grease. Perhaps a full teardown is needed?

So I 30m have this friend 31f who's a bit of a plus size girly. And she recently told me about a date that went wrong.

Poured her a glass of Shiraz and told her to lay it down on me. And boy she did...

She told me that she'd met this guy at a party, they talked and clicked. He was definitely into her, and took her back to his place when the party ended.

They started kissing, and he lifted her up and threw her down onto his bed, which caused all the wooden slats underneath his bed to explode outwards.

He was annoyed about this and told her that his mood was gone.

And that's when I fucking DIED. The laughter hit me like a damn freight train. I wasn't ready, I wasn't prepared. I was expecting the story to be longer, like maybe he came too fast, or one of them farted and ruined the mood etc...

But not this. It was the absolute dryness of her voice that did it. There was no buildup, not warning. It wasn't fair. I pictured the scene in my head and I didn't stand a chance.

I was rolling on the floor with tears running down my face. I hadn't laughed like that in years. I was wheezing at some point.

She stayed with me a bit, probably making sure I was OK, but left when I started to recollect myself.

I texted her that I was sorry, but she won't reply

Do I just give her some time?

So i do reload, but only for my more pricy calibers, and therefore on a pretty small scale. So i know the basics, but i'm in no means an expert.

What on earth was in that round? In his later video where he tried to recreate the explosion, none of the leftover SLAP rounds managed to blow up that new rifle, tho they were clearly WAY too hot.

He only achieved it with a hand loaded round he specifically loaded to blow the gun up, that according to his calculations, should have created over 190k PSI. Tho i don't exactly think he's a math guy.

But even then, during the original explosion, the barrel flew up into the air and did a flip, and those bunny ears that go behind the breech cap were ripped clean off of the receiver.

In his recreation vid, the barrel barely made air, and those ears were still attached to the frame, except this time the frame had split in half instead.

How much can you overfill a .50 BMG case? And who has the contacts to acquire SLAP bullets, has .50 BMG reloading equipment, whilst at the same time having no idea on how much powder to add to them?! I only reload straight walled cartridges, and those are already nearly full when using the provided reloading tables.

But the inconsistency of those rounds would have me believe that not only did they not know how much powder to add to them, they also just put random amounts in each case. Or did the plastic necks of those rounds somehow foul the barrel too much?

Considering that, according to Scott, each round costed 100 USD, perhaps the seller assumed that only collectors would buy these and never actually shoot them? Just put sand in them at that point...

But the strangest thing of all: In his first video, he said everything was "going smoothly", and that he fire "several" rounds, and that's when he loaded that fatal round. But in his recreation vid, almost EVERY round he fired was SO hot, that they all caused the breech cap to be very hard to remove, some rounds literally stamped the cap, and a few even took him 10 mins to remove the stuck casing?

Was he simply THAT unlucky?

I'm sorry if this has maybe been discussed a lot over here before, it's already 5 years ago by now.

My sister and her partner were gifted these restored speakers by a family member, and asked me to setup their system for them.

They want the ability to stream, best sound for their price range, attach a turntable, connect it to Google home, and the least amount of devices and cables possible.

So my current plan was a Wiim amp pro, and a turntable with a built-in phono preamp like a Rega Planar 1 plus, since the Wiim amp doesn't have a one. Everything they asked for, only two devices.

But I don't know much about these speakers. Will something simple like the Wiim amp be good enough? Or are these some kind of audiophile gems?

Take the Luger pistols for example. All of those have been blued, and all the German ones I've ever seen were a deep black.

But some Swiss Lugers I've seen had this gorgeous deep blue hue to them. When i first saw one of those that also had strawed parts... I was in love! Blue and gold is such a magical combo.

Maybe it's a Swiss thing? Because I've also seen some Swiss service revolvers that had this color.
