Disposable gloves?

So I work at a grocery store. For some reason I find it so uncomfortable and unsanitary if I don't use the disposable latex-free gloves. Sometimes it's necessary if I'm handling the veggies/fruit section or the bakery.

But I still feel like it's such a huge waste since they can break easily and don't last long. We have those thick fabric gloves but I find them too thick and uncomfortable to work with.

Is there any, more durable alternative or do I just have to try and get over it and go bare handed when I don't necessarily need them?

In your experience, what produces less CO2? An "recycled" homelab or a "green" server on Hetzner?

Hi, I'm planning to host a few services (Tailscale mesh VPN, file sharing, media streaming and password vault), aside from the VPN the server won't work 24/7, it will spend quite a bit of time idle.

Environment sustainability is really important for me, so I'm curious about which option produces less CO2. At home I have an old Raspberry Pi 3B+, an old-ish SSD and a few second hand HDDs. Or, I know that Hetzner uses often recycled servers, and powers them with 100% renewable energy (but they don't neccesarily produce 0% CO2), and they are based in Germany/Finland (I live in Italy). The cheaper option is probably the homelab, but what about in terms of CO2? Thanks!

Antique pill holder

Got this adorable little antique pill holder in a right weird little shop last month! Cleaned the living daylights out of it with isopropanol and ethanol and turned it into a lip balm! I can stop buying plastic tubes now and just make my own!! The best part- it has a small tray inside so if I want to use the container for something else in the future, I can just slip the tray out and my lip balm won’t have left a single trace inside!

Hi everyone! I’m 17 and I’ve been really wanting to start my journey toward a more zero-waste and sustainable lifestyle. Im feeling a bit overwhelmed by where to begin, so I’m hoping to get some advice from you all! What are some simple, low-cost swaps or habits that a beginner can realistically adopt while still in school? Im really passionate about protecting the environment so any tips, resources or wish I knew this sooner advice would be so appreciated! Thank you

Best Eco-Friendly Laundry Detergent Recommendations?

I've been trying to be more environmentally conscious lately, and I keep seeing posts about how bad plastic laundry detergent bottles are for the environment. Does anyone have recommendations for laundry detergents that are more eco-friendly but still clean well?

Journey to the supermarket shelves

Started out thinking food miles were the biggest factor in sustainable grocery shopping. But after some great discussions here, I’m now thinking carbon emissions, water use land impact and production are what actually moves the needle on people’s choices.

Is that the general consensus? Is there anything supermarkets/producers can do to provide more insight into this? How can we consolidate globalised data? And if you had easy access to that data for every item on your grocery receipt — would it actually change what you buy?

Does anyone know of an eco-consious alternative for chatgpt? I saw enough post about how AI companies and their data centers are destroying the environment

Substitute for single-use sheet face masks?

Is it possible to make DIY-sheet masks? Maybe like a sheet mask you can wash and then re-soak in serum to use several times?

I love using this kind of face mask but hate the environmental impact single-use products cause!!! Any tips?

People who use cloth napkins at home - is it worth the switch?

What do you find are pros and cons of using cloth over disposable, aside from the obvious of environmental and financial?

Any good non toxic eco friendly cleaning solutions?

US based.

I'm making a switch for safer cleaning supplies since Im planning to become pregnant and will be high risk as well as already have medical conditions and pets.

I'm needing to replace everything but the multi surface, floor cleaner, dish soap, and laundry. Basically anything that multi surface cleaners aren't good for.

Feel free to recommend any reusable items you love for every day use as well.

Most apartment-friendly indoor garden tips?

I want to start up a little indoor garden to try and grow my own vegetables and herbs for cooking. A couple of my friends already have these, but I have an apartment with no balcony.

I'm wondering what the most apartment-friendly setups are for indoor gardens. Also, what plants grow the best in indoor spaces with little light.

We also have a cats, so preferably something where the plants aren't out in the open for them to snack on.
