Safe to compost Hanniford To Go paper bags?

What do we think, r/gardening fam? Are we peeling the stickers off these bags and composting them?

Eco friendly shower gel? Uk

I'm trying to make my bath/shower routine more sustainable. I've already made changes like refillable deodorant, Lush lotions and scrubbees, using up what I already have etc

I'm trying to find a better brand for shower gels rather than Dove or Nivea. I've tried Lush shower gels but I find them too runny and I don't like the smells

Does anyone have any suggestions? Preferably something I can find in Boots or at least somewhere in person, I don't really like shopping online

What simple things do you do DAILY to be more friendly towards Mother Earth?

I want to work more on doing my part to help heal Mother Earth. I am forever grateful for the life, food, and water that the great goddess has given me/us living creatures. I am trying to be a bit more conscious about what I do/use, but changing to be completely sustainable is not easy. Because of that, I'm trying to do at least a few things each day that are better for the planet. I'm also trying to find even more things I can do, hence this post.

Some things I currently do are:

• Thrift/buy used whenever I can

• Rinse out all cans so they can be recycled (I recycle whenever I can)

• Keep takeout packaging that can be reused like Tupperware

• Take quick showers and not take a lot of baths

• Don't sit in my car with it running. Turn it off as soon as possible, even if I want to sit in my car for a bit

If I had public transport that was at least semi-decent, I'd use it. If I could walk to the places I go frequently, I would. I just can't. Also, it gets over 110 °F during the summer where I live. If I could use less AC, I would. I still can't afford to live on my own, so my parents obviously get a say in the temperature. Carpooling to work isn't a good option because I don't know if any of my coworkers live near me. Also, I have to mask at work and have issues with my parents, so my alone time in my car is precious to me and vital to my mental health. If I could live closer to the places I frequent, I would, but I can't right now.

Previous Native deodorant users: What have you switched to?

I need to restock my deodorant and I’m so bummed Native got rid of their plastic free deodorant. :( Curious as to what others have switched to. Looking for input from people who actually used Native as I had tried a couple other plastic and aluminum free deodorants and they didn’t work as well as Native. Thanks!

helping the bees 🐝

hello! i’m beginning to try to do little things to help the planet, and i saw a cute idea to plant native wildflowers to help bees since their populations are struggling. that would be an extremely easy way to help out, especially since i am just starting. i’m slowly making eco friendly and healthier swaps… it’s just so expensive lol! anyway, i am looking to see how i’d go about finding a pack of seeds? that might seem stupid but i’m just not sure.. i’m on a budget, so i’m looking for cheap suggestions! for reference, i’m in north carolina, triad area. any other sustainable tips about anything would be helpful as well and good brands! i’m starting with switching cleaners, shampoos, soaps, etc first after i run out of things. :)

Non Toxic Storage for longer shelf life

Hi! What’s the best non toxic storage containers for veggies? I would like to cut up all of my veggies for salads, for like a week. But I am wondering if there are any really good containers people have found to keep or extend shelf life? I end up throwing 1/4 Of the veggies away at the moment 😡😢
I’m mainly storing peppers cucumbers broccolis
Cauliflower brussel sprouts leeks onions asparagus zucchini squashes ect…
Price is not a problem it it really worms or extends the life!!
Thank you !!

My tablecloth top

I got this gorgeous tablecloth from a second hand shop a while back. The saleswoman pointed out some rather unsightly stains and asked if I was sure I wanted it, then since I wasn't fazed by them, she discounted it heavily, I think I paid maybe €2 max.

In between two other projects I had a couple of days free so I finally got round to making the top. It's just a very simple top, back and front, no darts, just plenty of ease, copied and adjusted from an old favourite top. I usually use facing but this time I decided to line it, because I had some leftover voile and because I realised the embroidery is a bit messy underneath, I was fretting that it might unravel with wear.

It was great fun choosing which motifs to use, and my one regret is that I didn't take a before photo of the whole tablecloth because it was truly a masterpiece. Not only were the motifs very cute as you can see, there were additional little swirls of foliage gracing each corner and other areas. The little black lines have been painted on, but everything else is embroidered. There are just enough tiny imperfections to prove that it was hand-embroidered, I imagine it must have been a true labour of love.

Now enjoying a second life keeping me cool during this blazing summer!

Plastic Bags

I’ve got lots of plastic bags collected from over the years. Most reusable/recyclable, some not. How can I most consciously get rid of them? Do I send them to a recycling point? Use them as bin liners and just throw them in the normal bin? I want to do this but not sure it’s the most conscious thing. Put them up on fb market or free cycle for someone that needs them? Same with some paper bags I’ve got. Do I just recycle them? Give them away?
