Struggling to find Childhood Educator jobs though I have 10+years experience and am half way through Level 2 with honors. Am thinking of going into another field anyine else switch fields?

I know I am not the only one struggling to find a job. I am a Level 1 Childhood Educator with 10+years experience. Now I am half way through Level 2 Childhood Educator and have received honors in my courses and current first aid.

I go for the odd interview, but so far it is not panning out. I am wondering if there any other daycare teachers in here who decided to go into another field. If so what field?

Thanks.

US to Edmonton, not sure where to go from here

I’m a Canadian citizen living in the US (dual citizenship). Iv had all my documents up to date for a while but have held off on leaving the US due to the job market situation in Canada. My family is in Edmonton and they tell me how bad it is. On the other hand iv been wanting to make this move for over 4 years now and im getting fed up with being in the US

I currently have an exceptionally stable job in the US. Long story short, It’s a government and higher education job and I have a lot of connections at the company. I have 10+ years of customer service and contact center experience. I’m about to graduate with my BA in business admin. I may also be able to utilize remote work and extra pto iv saved up to travel to look for work

At this point…I’m just looking for anything. Literally I would take on any field so long as I match the qualifications.

Can’t do military service, can do some manual labor jobs but not all, and although I’m willing to get certifications I would have to wait until I’m eligible for financial aid.

Are there any routes I should take that I may not have thought of already? It sounds delusional but are there any early signs of a stabilizing job market?

Any advice helps!
Thank you!

I’m a bit frustrated with trying to find a part time job

I’m 19 and I’m still trying to finish up high school (I’m in a program that helps students finish high school and get their diploma), but I’ve considered getting a part time job to start making some money on my own without having to ask my parents for some. However, no matter where I apply, mostly online, I hear nothing back. The one time I tried applying in person was at an Indigo bookstore and they told me I had to send in an application online.

I tried checking Indeed, checking ALIS Alberta every once in a while, checking whatever job postings my school decides to show us, even redoing my resume with professional help. I’m also in the process of finding volunteer work just to boost my resume.

I’m tired man. Even when I try to find someone to contact to see if my job application went through, I usually can’t find any, and when I do (especially for big companies), it’s usually their general/company number that I find and not store specific. With the rampant use of generative A.I. in hiring, I feel like I’m losing my chance in getting a job whatsoever.

I feel so depressed and hopeless

I recently graduated with a BA in Psychology and I’m struggling hard to land anything.
I’ve been applying consistently for a while now. I have decent experience (internships, volunteer work, some relevant roles), and my resume isn’t trash. Still feels like I’m just sending applications into a black hole.
So I want honest answers from people who’ve actually made it out of this stage:

What job did you actually end up getting with a psych / arts degree?

What actually got you hired? (be real — not “just network more”)

Are referrals/connections basically mandatory now or what?

If you didn’t have connections, how did you get your first break?

Did you have to pivot completely into something unrelated?

I’m not looking for generic advice I’ve already heard all the “tailor your resume” and “apply more” stuff. I want real stories of what worked.
Right now it honestly just feels like experience alone isn’t enough anymore, so I’m trying to figure out what people are actually doing differently.

I'm losing my hope and self-confidence because of my unemployment journey

Why is finding a job in Edmonton so tough? I've been looking for a job for nearly 1 year and have applied to 100 jobs, but I've received no response at all or sometimes just rejections. That's eating me from the inside. Though I have a Canadian Master's Degree and experience, I did not get any offers or responses from the employers. When I first came to Canada and couldn't get a job, I thought, "Okay, maybe I don't have enough experience, which most employers require." So I applied to the University for the Master's Program, and studied Humanities for a year, and when I finished my two semesters, I started my job hunting. But since then, I have been scrolling through job boards and webpages... I'm losing my hope...

PSA: The federal government is running a public survey on 2027-2029 Immigration Levels. It closes June 30th.

Like a lot of you, I've been incredibly frustrated by the housing crisis, wage suppression, and the sheer volume of temporary residents over the last few years. We see endless posts and rage-bait about it every single day across Reddit and social media, but arguing in the comments doesn't actually change policy.

Right now, the federal government (IRCC) is running their official public consultation to set the Immigration Levels Plan for 2027-2029. It’s not getting much mainstream media coverage, and the social media algorithms definitely aren't pushing it because dry government surveys don't generate ad revenue.

But this is the actual data the minister uses to justify their targets to the massive corporations asking for more cheap labor.

If we don't fill this out, they will just point to a lack of public pushback to keep the caps high.

It takes less than 5 minutes. Tell them the infrastructure is maxed out, we need hard caps on temporary visas, and we need to prioritize housing.

Here is the link to the official Canada.ca survey. It closes on June 30th.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/transparency/consultations/2026-consultations-immigration-levels.html

Upvote or share it so people actually see it before the deadline.

Wtf are some of these job listings?

I find myself laughing at this cities job market more often during these times than usual.

You're telling me you want somebody to be a marketer, a server, and a cook all-in-one for the low low price of $15 an hour!?

Btw the type of restaurant has no meaning in relation to this to me. I'm south asian myself. I'm seeing ridiculous offers & requirements from every type of job.

Oil field starts how?

I want to get into the oil field/drill rig as a lease hand or the so called starter position,

but everyone either wants a Class 1 or 1-2 years experience for entry level??

HUH? how the heck does one get an entry level position, that requires experience. Make it make sense please. I’ve got those certificates needed too so it’s not like I have no training or credentials.

I understand it’s slow with it being summer right now but yeah any help is appreciated

Australian family moving to Edmonton Canada seeking advice

Hi reddit community,

Family of four (2 young children) planning on moving to Edmonton Canada from Hobart Australia next year. Husband comes from a policing background. We have some questions regarding the area.

Can reddit users suggest good family suburbs and share the lower socioeconomic crime driven areas?

Good schools and the and less favourable ones?

How accessible is the rental market? (Coming from a rental crisis Australia!)

Are there any users who have come from Australia and joined the Edmonton police service? If so, can you shed some light on your experience? Side question for me (wife) does the department regularly recruit for dispatchers? This is my background.

Is there much of an Australian expat community?

A very big thank you in advance for users advice :)

Does anyone have stories of actually finding jobs and how/where you got it? Maybe shine some positivity on a sunny day.

Power engineer jobs Edmonton and area. Or fly in fly out

I managed a 3rd class power plant in Edmonton with a team of shift engineers and maintenance crew.
Did the shift scheduling, pm plans, project meetings, inspections and life cycle replacements on equipment.

I tried applying to sooo many jobs and nothing.

How to get recognized by recruiters?
So tempted to give up the career and do something else at entry level.

It’s crazy
