Vertu Investments Ltd. in 411 – 7327 137 Street, Surrey, BC, V3W 1A4 found non-compliant with TFW program regulations and fined $61000 CAD

Vertu Investments Ltd. located at 411 – 7327 137 Street, Surrey, BC, V3W 1A4 has been found non-compliant with Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program regulations and fined $61000 CAD and received a ban status of Eligible.

Violations Found:

  • Code 2: The employer didn’t keep documents that showed they met the conditions of employing a foreign national, for a period of 6 years, starting on the first day the foreign national worked for them.Provision: 209.2(1)(b)(ii) or 209.3(1)(c)(ii)
  • Code 6: The employer didn't give the inspector the documents they asked for.Provision: 209.4(1)(b)
  • Code 15: The employer was not actively engaged in the business that the foreign national was hired to work for (aside from live-in caregivers).Provision: 209.2(1)(a)(i) or 209.3(1)(a)(i)

Date of Final Decision: 2026-06-26

This enforcement action demonstrates the Canadian government's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the Temporary Foreign Worker program through regular compliance monitoring and penalties. When an employer remains eligible to participate despite violations, it indicates that authorities have determined the infractions do not warrant a complete prohibition from the program, allowing the business to continue operations under heightened scrutiny. Program oversight serves to protect workers who may lack full awareness of their rights or face barriers to reporting workplace issues due to language, immigration status, or economic vulnerability. The existence of such penalties reinforces that employers must adhere to wage, working condition, and recruitment standards established under federal regulations. Continued enforcement actions signal to all program participants that compliance is actively monitored rather than assumed.

Anyone think they can supervise a weed store for $36 an hour? Magic Buds Madigan in NE Calgary has filed an LMIA for a foreign worker claiming they can't find anyone who can supervise the store for $36 an hour

You can find the details in one of my comments.

Duties of the position:

Hire and train or arrange for training of staff

Authorize payments by cheque

Authorize return of merchandise

Resolve issues that may arise, including customer requests, complaints and supply shortages

Supervise and co-ordinate activities of workers

The employer states that a minimum of 3-5 years of experience is required.

The employer states you can call them between 8:00 am and 8:30 am to apply for the job or email/use Direct Apply.

According to public records, the business is owned by a man named Chadwick Harrington III, Esq.

Just kidding, it's owned by Jasvir Singh Korotane (Jasvir Korotane)

Inerestingly, a Google search of the employer's phone number shows they own several liquor stores and cannabis dispensaries in Calgary and they were advertising liquor store supervisor positions for $22.00 per hour last year through job ads that were similarly used on the TFW Program. This would have been automatically refused if filed as Calgary has had a refusal to process for Low-Wage applications since September, 2024.

$36.00 per hour is the exact wage needed to qualify for a LMIA in Calgary due to the refusal to process stated above as Calgary has a very high unemployment rate.

Edit: apparently the owner of the business has enlisted some of his friends to give five star reviews on Google and is hiding 1 star reviews. I noticed there was about 3 recent 1 star reviews yesterday which are now gone.

Last night at around 10pm, three accounts decided to give Magic Buds Madigan five star reviews at the same time:

Those accounts are:

Vijay Sandhu (0 previous reviews)

Kevin seo (0 previous reviews)

Jaismeen Sandhu (1 previous review on a business operated out of a home in Skyview NE Calgary)

Edit2: The plot thickens. Apparently there is an employee at the store who just happens to be named "Jaismeen". One review from awhile back states "The new girl Jaismeen". Another review says "Jaismeen is amazing". What are the odds? Is this business posting fake Google reviews in addition to fake jobs?

The owner did not, apparently, think to come here and make a sincere apology for perpetrating a scam on the country that he has lived in for 2 decades or more. No, the first thought appears to have been to practice more fraud!

Martin's Spotlight: a private security company in Mississauga, ON hired 5 CEO/CFO level Senior Managers through LMIAs and is now closed with their office up for rent

They hired 5 different Senior Manager positions that have duties about reporting to the board of directors working through middle managers and providing direction for the company.

The business is now closed. Until early 2025 there were 200 extra points awarded for senior managers. Once they were removed the amount of applications for senior managers has declined over 90% since 2025 (I'll make a post about this).

My PS5 updated itself and I have no idea how

Quick backstory, my slim PS5 was on firmware 11.6 or 11.4 since at least December. I had played it once or twice since then using PS Portal, no updates. Automatic updates was unequivocally 100% turned off.

Last night I turned on my PS5 but apparently the controller battery was dead so I needed to charge it. HDMI cable was also unplugged so I coudn't see anything. After about half an hour of charging the controller then plugging in the HDMI cable, I discovered it somehow updated itself.

How is this possible? I don't think I accidentally pressed "X" on the controller to update it either, I only pressed the PS button to turn it on,

A Pharmacy in Toronto, ON has requested a LMIA to fill a Pharmacy Assistant position that they say they can't fill with a Canadian or PR. The wage offered is $36.00 per hour.

The position requires a secondary school diploma and 1-2 years of experience. The job duties are:

Ensure the information on prescriptions is accurate

Enter client information in databases

Help pharmacists

Maintain inventories of medications and pharmaceutical products

Maintain prescription records

Compound, package and label pharmaceutical products

Bill third party insurers

Compound oral solutions, ointments and creams

Maintain supplies

The median wage for a Pharmacy Assistant in the Toronto Area is $19.50 per hour. Coincidentally the offered wage of $36.00 per hour is the exact wage needed to qualify for a LMIA as there is an active refusal to process in Toronto for any LMIA paid $35.99 or lower.

I attempted to find the LMIA history for this business but I was unable to. They are either a first time filer or they bested me.

**Disclaimer** I am not accusing this business of wrong doing. I am posting an active job posting for the purposes of documenting active job postings that are utilizing the program.
