My 4y/o baby Mina was diagnosed with the big L.
When I got her and her sister she was negative for everything, 3 days ago she started having a fever and some lethargy turns out she got the disease but she has been an indoor cat and all my other 8 cats were negative too.
What advice can you guys give, im not going to lie I cant afford the virbagen what other options I got?
And what cares do I have to give her?

This is Obie. He tested positive for FeLV and FIV in early 2024. He had been a stray tomcat

The vet suggested euth but I asked/ pleaded to treat symptoms and see how that goes.

We haven't done a full-mouth extraction and I'd like to know other's experience if you've had it done on your cat.

Did it really make that much difference?

Needing advice!!

this is my boy laszlo. he is about ten months old and was just diagnosed with FeLV today. i’ve been so overwhelmed the past few hours so i apologize if some of these questions are silly/basic information.
not looking for medical advice or further diagnosis!! i was just hoping to hear some others’ experiences or suggestions to better understand what to talk about with our vet.

we found out at an urgent care vet as we were there for unrelated reasons. we were there for a small injury on his foot, and i decided to ask about the test because we recently found out his brother had it (we do not own his brother)

we got a pamphlet from the urgent care and we’re making an appointment with his primary vet, but until we can get that appointment i was just curious from other people’s experience:

  1. is there a way to know what stage he is in? from the outside he seems perfectly normal other than an occasional slightly puffy eye (we were told before that was allergies)

  2. is there anything to be done to ease the severity of FeLV if we catch it early enough? i know there’s sadly not an instant cure

  3. is there any way to generally predict how long i might have with my boy? i’m sure this relates to stage. as i said, he seems so happy and healthy that it was quite a shock. some information online says two years, but i don’t want to get my hopes up if he could instantly take a turn for the worst. i don’t understand how fast FeLV work

i appreciate anyone who has any advice, even if it’s tips or thoughts beyond these questions! thank you, i wish everyone and their kitties the best 💗

Lemonade’s goodbye

Today I say goodbye to lemonade, she got dealt with a very rough hand in life. Even though I wanted to give her years of comfort after I found her just a few months ago. After spaying her she got a very resistent E. coli bacteria in her wound, which she would overcome but sadly she had both FIV and FeLV and all of these were so bad on her fragile body. Nevertheless she kept fighting for months until today she couldn’t any longer and took her to the vet for her final sleep. This world wasn’t meant for something as beautiful as you Lemonade, I loved you so much the couple months you were with us and even caring for you all day. Run free sweet and strong girl

FeLV+ Cat Philadelphia

Hello! I am new to Reddit as a whole but does anyone have resources for a FeLV+ kitty in the Philadelphia area?

I took in a stray and found out she is FeLV+ but already have another cat at home and haven’t found another home for her yet. She is so sweet and I want to do right by her.
