Why PETG specifically have bad tolerances

I am fairly new to 3D printing, as the Creator 5 Pro is my first printer.

Recently I calibrated my filaments - PLA , ASA , PETG.

I used this youtube guide - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVU5If1VsAM

For both PLA and ASA the results were BIG improvements in both the visual aspect and functional (tolerances)

However, for PETG, even though visually it seems perfect now - the tolerances are off.

Trying to fit bolts and nuts printed in the calibrated PLA and ASA works flawlessly.

However the PETG ones looks great but never fit.

I do not understand why.

EDIT: additional context

I printed the Orca Cube in Orca slicer. The cube dimensions are perfect (30x30x30mm) But the screw at the bottom only fits halfway, and then it is stuck. When printed in ASA or PLA it fits. cube dimensions are the same. Used digital calipers to measure. The screw from the ASA and PLA cubes fits the PETG cube, so the problem is the threads on the PETG screw/s

Is heat sink supposed to be loose?

Had a print awhile back run out of filament so it sat in the idle state for hours. Then power outage while it was waiting for filament. Printer hasn't really been the same since. I'm swapping out nozzles and noticed the heat sink is very lose. Don't remember if that's normal or i should try tightened it up. For some reason I always have a problem getting the clip to seat properly and wondered if I loose heat sink would be part of the problem?

WARNING - AD5M Firmware 5.1.8

My AD5M automatically updated to 5.1.8 firmware. Now I can't print anything with Flashprint or Flash Studio. It also turned off my light and won't allow me to turn it back on.

I went back to 5.1.7 and after all of the calibrations a window popped up, I clicked ok and it again installed 5.1.8.

Hopefully I can switch to LAN and reinstall 5.1.7

Ad5x can’t print tpu

I recently got my ad5x and it’s been printing fine, expect in tpu. I had one tpu print that worked, and that’s the last time tpu came out of the nozzle. I’ve tried switching presets, drying it, unclogging, a cold pull, loosening the screw on the head. Can’t find a solution yet, for some reason I’m still printing pla just fine, but anytime I switch to tpu it messed up. Lately when I’ve tried unclogged it, there was no tpu that came out. I’ve tried contacting their support team which has so far been no help, and they tried telling me that tpu 95 isn’t supported, which it obviously is. I have eono3d tpu 95. Pls help

AD5M enclosure suggestions

I recently got a flashforge ad5m and I'm looking to print an enclosure. I'm relatively new to 3D printing, I looked around sites like printables, makerworld etc and found a lot of options. I actually like the open frame look with the industrial black matte steel. What kind of filament should I use if I want to keep this look? I also found remixes that greatly improved the look of the seams and how the parts connect to each other. Which remix would you guys suggest that I go with? Thanks in advance.

Need some help with PETG printing

Set up:

flashforge adventurer 5m (2nd hand found in recycle room at apartment complex and seemed fine until I started using PETG)

0.4mm nozzle new

Inland PETG+

nozzle temp 250C

Bed temp 80

Orca slicer

Inland filament dryer set to 50C With RH OF 14-20%

I have been trying to figure out this material for a week and im not sure what to do i initially thought it was a feed issue or a speed issue but after slow everything down a bit. Im still getting blobs forming around the nozzle during initial layer printing. As well as the layer getting printed is rough maybe poor adhesion.

I kept also having failures on the temp tower calibration print from orca after 245 it would bird nest and then completely fail.

I adjusted the z axis from 0.025mm to 0.050mm

Here are the photos I have of the issues. Any advice is appreciated or some good sources to use to learn how to dial in materials would be huge.

On Inland PLA is have no issues with the presets in orca or printables. Just seems to be having an issue with the petg.

Im trying to print a corner shelf so I wanted to try going with a more durable polymer

I will update after this test run with the modified z height.

Also are they any good recommended calibration prints or calibration that I should have done after getting this printer that could be effecting it.

Nozzles & Accessories

I got an answer, confirming what a few have mentioned, but thought I would share the email.
Hopefully this is a lesson in that when launching a new machine, set the expectation up front when parts will be available…

How do i set a spool as a backup in case one runs out?

Im currently printing my ad5x enclosure which takes around 1.5kg to print and i have 2 spools of 1 kg petg to print it which means that in one of the printing plates i will run into an issue of one spool running out.

Is there a way to put both spools on my IFS and set one as a backup to printing?

Creator 5 or Snapmaker U1

I have a AD5M which I have been happy with. I’m using an old Flash Orca and declining firmware updates.
So, if I have to learn new software and new hardware, which is the better choice?

Amazon will deliver either to me for free here in Alaska. Flashforge would not sell me one when I went to preorder, since I live in Alaska.

So, pros and cons to either?

Ad5x extruder tension screw

I'm not having any issues right now, but what are you guys doing to gauge how tight you should tighten your tension screw on the AD5X. I've been just running it all the way in, and not cranking it. Should there be an adjustment process. I didn't see anything on the website.

Flashforge Creator 5 Pro hardware discrepancy: official wiki says Cortex-A53, firmware appears to be Ingenic X2600/MIPS

I’ve been investigating the hardware and firmware inside my **Flashforge Creator 5 Pro**, and I’ve found what appears to be a significant discrepancy between Flashforge’s published specifications and the firmware actually running on the printer.

## What Flashforge officially states

Flashforge’s official Creator 5 technical wiki states that the mainboard uses:

> **“dual-core Cortex-A53”**

> **“8GB of onboard storage”**

**Official Flashforge wiki:**

[Flashforge Creator 5 hardware introduction](https://wiki.flashforge.com/en/creator-series/creator-5-series/manual/intro-creator-5)

---

## What the extracted firmware shows

The firmware extracted from my Creator 5 Pro appears to identify a completely different processor platform.

The findings include:

- Linux kernel compiled for **MIPS**

- Main executables compiled as **32-bit MIPS**

- References to **Ingenic XBurst II**

- Multiple **Ingenic X2600-specific** device-tree and driver strings

- Boot information showing **two XBurst II CPU cores**

- Approximately **512MB RAM** visible to Linux

- A MIPS-specific dynamic linker and toolchain

- No evidence so far of an ARM Cortex-A53 Linux environment

---

## Why this matters

A Cortex-A53 is an **ARMv8-A processor architecture**.

The Ingenic X2600 uses **XBurst II/MIPS architecture**.

These are not alternative names for the same processor. They use different instruction sets, and software compiled for Cortex-A53/ARM cannot natively run on an X2600/MIPS platform.

This affects:

- Software compatibility

- Firmware development

- Camera and video processing

- Third-party Linux package availability

- Security updates

- Long-term firmware support

---

## Camera discrepancy

Flashforge advertises the Creator 5 Pro camera as:

- **1280 × 720**

- **30 fps**

However, the vendor camera software found in the firmware was seen requesting and using:

- **640 × 480**

The vendor time-lapse workflow also appears to generate lower-resolution output rather than using the advertised 720p mode.

This may be a software configuration issue rather than a limitation of the camera hardware, but it is another discrepancy worth clarifying.

---

## Mainboard photograph

I have a photograph of the mainboard, but it is not currently sharp enough to conclusively read the processor markings.

For that reason, I am **not claiming that the photograph alone proves the exact processor model**.

The strongest evidence currently comes from:

- The extracted firmware

- Kernel architecture

- Executable architecture

- Boot information

- XBurst II identification

- X2600-specific hardware support

---

## Possible explanations

There may be a legitimate explanation, such as:

  1. Different mainboard revisions exist.

  2. Earlier and later production runs use different processors.

  3. Regional variants use different hardware.

  4. The Cortex-A53 specification was planned but changed before production.

  5. Flashforge’s official wiki contains incorrect or outdated information.

  6. The printer contains more than one processor, although the extracted Linux firmware clearly runs on the MIPS/X2600 platform.

---

## Questions for Flashforge

I would like Flashforge to confirm:

- The approved Creator 5 Pro mainboard part number

- The exact processor model installed

- Whether Cortex-A53 and X2600 mainboard revisions both exist

- The serial-number ranges for each revision

- The amount of installed RAM

- Whether the Ingenic X2600 is an authorised retail production configuration

- Why the official wiki describes the mainboard as Cortex-A53

- Why the camera software uses 640 × 480 when 1280 × 720 at 30 fps is advertised

---

## Has anyone else checked their machine?

I’d be interested in hearing from other Creator 5 Pro owners who can provide:

- Clear photographs of the main processor markings

- PCB model and revision numbers

- `/proc/cpuinfo` output

- Kernel boot logs

- Firmware architecture information

- Confirmation from Flashforge support

I’m trying to determine whether this is an isolated hardware revision or whether the official specification is incorrect across the product line.

**Has anyone else inspected their Creator 5 Pro mainboard or firmware?**

Starting to get upset.

A little background. I preordered my creator 5 pro and paid in full on April 20th at 12:03 AM.
My order number starts with 82.
I live in The U.S.
I did not pay for air shipping as I figured I could wait a month.
I emailed customer service on 5/31 to ask about an expected delivery date. The reply was that it would be delivered by the end of June.
I replied to the email yesterday 7/2 because I still had not even received a notification that it has shipped. Here is the response:

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Flashforge.
The latest estimated shipping time for your order  is around the end of July.
Based on the current shipping schedule, you should expect to receive your package in August.
We sincerely apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience. We are working to accelerate the shipping process and will ship your order as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to your reply.

LCD cable delivered not connected

Ordered my first flash forge recently I was sticking with something cheaper I went with the adventurer 5m however the day it arrived I noticed an issue with the lcd ribbon wire for the screen it was loose and while putting it into place it unplugged! I’ve genuinely never seen this occur before and I’ve been using various printers for at least 8 years so this alarmed me. Is there anybody with a similar experience who might have tips with reconnecting lcd cables because if I’m being honest this is my first printer with a screen and I’ve never had to plug in an lcd ribbon wire before and have zero clue how
