Bought secondhand

Just bought this Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge X1P/16/256 15.6” for $280 secondhand, barely used since September last year! What are your thoughts? Anything I should do first after setup?

Thinking on buying a GalaxyBook Edge 4

Hi, as the title says im thinking of buying a GBE4 (non oled) at a price of 460 USD. Im interested on the snapdragon processor (I already checked that all the apps I use are aviable for arm) but im actually concerned about the battery life. Im not in the move ALL the time but would value a full day of usage without needing to charge it. Also all im going to use it for are video classes, pdf reading and google docs. Is it worth it?

Issues with Galaxy Book6 Ultra Touchpad / Samsung

I ordered my first Book6 Ultra (356H, 5070, 1tb) in early June and realized it had a defect shortly after completing the setup process. Any inputs using the touchpad caused the cursor to jump around the screen erratically, like a butterfly through the air. Whether using one finger to select a particular line of text, or two fingers to scroll down a page, inputs are imprecise, erratic, unpredictable, and unresponsive. Similar to if 40 different people were trying to use the touchpad at the same time. After ~10 hours of navigating inept customer service agents, I was able to return it.

Here lies my biggest mistake: I ordered a second Book6 Ultra.

Upon setting up the replacement, I quickly realized it has the exact same defect. I've tried all the solutions I know of: updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling the drivers; entering the BIOS screen to determine it was a hardware issue instead of a software issue; contacting customer support (do not waste your time with them); changing every input setting and then resetting those, plus numerous backups and factory resets. Nothing has worked. Now I'll be returning the second defective Book6 Ultra and spending my money elsewhere.

As far as I'm aware, this configuration / spec is not widely available to the public here in the US, so I haven't been able to find anyone else experiencing the same issue. I was able to order both of them through a Samsung Student account, and with a $1,000 student discount, the price was a little less ouchy.

I'll preface this by saying I'm a patient, considerate, and thoughtful individual. However... Samsung's customer service and support team have been abysmal. Completely inept, entirely inadequate, and unworthy of employment. At this point, I've spent more than 20 hours on the phone and in chats with them trying to return two defective, and expensive, brand new laptops. I'm unsure if the quality of the laptops I've received is more off-putting, or if that award goes to my experience with customer support. I'm leaning toward customer support.

Other than the glaring issue with the main point of input, build quality is terrific. Battery life, terrific. Display, terrific. Overall quality? Dog shit.

This was a complete waste of time, money, and energy. I would strongly recommend you leave this device, or at least this spec configuration, to be someone else's problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything I can do to fix the trackpad? I need a strong-but-professional laptop for my grad school work and being without one is a huge setback, but unless I can find a way to fix this (assumedly) hardware issue by July 19th, I'll be sending this one back, as I did with the first.

Thanks for your time!

Standard GalaxyBook6 - Worth it?

So I’m looking to exit the apple ecosystem and get rid of my MacBook Air for either a galaxy book6 or Microsoft surface. And my iPhone 17 pro max for s26 ultra. Is the standard book6 a reliable and decent laptop? They got it on a really good sale rn at Best Buy and selling my MacBook Air could basically cover most of it.

Has anyone bought it and can confirm or speak to its ability? For reference, I don’t do any work on it. Solely for entertainment and multiple tabs open shopping type of thing.

Samsung Book 4 or Samsung book 5?

Hi all,

I am already having a Samsung Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy Tab S10FE and therefore looking to purchase a Samsung book Laptop to add to the ecosystem. I have currently shortlisted the Galaxy book 4 i5, 16,512GB, 1335U processor which is available on Flipkart at ₹60k and the Galaxy book 5 i5, 16,512GB 225U processor which is avalaible at around ₹76k.

My main usage will be to use them for my higher studies for the next 2-3 years so I will probably be doing some light coding, multitasking and streaming on the device. I would require a good battery life to sit through the lectures tho.

I have read the reviews online and there seem to be a few issues like overheating and screen cracking (is this on all devices or only on the -pro devices? Coz I'm not planning to buy the -pro version). I did alternatively consider Asus ideapad slim 3 and Lenovo Thinkbook 16 as well but the features of the ecosystem like clipboard, shared storage and multi-screen were a bit too cool to be ignored.

So should I really go with a Samsung laptop and if yes, which one? The book 4 or the book 5? My budget is between ₹60-75k.

And if no, which of the Ideapad and Thinkbook should I consider?

Galaxy Book 4 Ultra Charging Cable

Hello wonderful people!

My charging cable is showing some signs of wear, and little tears in the surface of the cable are appearing. I see Samsung UK don't sell the 5A-E cables on their website, is there anywhere I can pick one up, or a suitable alternative?

Thank you!

Should i get a Galaxy Book?

I'm looking for a new pc, but I'm kinda split.

The last 15 years or so, I've only had MacBooks, but I'm considering switching because i don't have anything else in the Apple Ecosystem and ofc they're just generally more expensive.

I've looked at the Samsung Galaxy Book6 Pro 16 U7-356H/32/1024/OLED/WPRO, but I want to be sure it's the right choice before committing.

I work daily with Adobes and sometimes some very heavy video projects, so it needs to be able to handle that and have multiple Adobe programs open and working at ones.

Would this be the right choice?

Should I buy the book 4 16gb?

I'm planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 during the upcoming Amazon sale, and one of the main reasons I'm considering it is the Samsung ecosystem. I already own a Galaxy S24+ and a Galaxy Tab S10 FE, so having features like Quick Share, Multi Control, Samsung Notes sync, and the overall seamless integration sounds really appealing.

However, while researching the laptop, I came across several posts about the display cracking, sometimes even without any major impact (what even am I hearing??). I'm not sure whether this is actually a common issue or if it's just a small number of cases getting a lot of attention online.

I'd love to hear from people who own or have used the Galaxy Book 4. How has your experience been with the laptop? Have you faced any display or build quality issues? Would you still recommend buying it in 2026, or would you suggest going with something like a Lenovo or ASUS laptop instead? Is the Samsung ecosystem good enough to justify choosing the Galaxy Book 4 over other laptops in the same price range?

For context, I'll mainly be using it for engineering studies, programming, web browsing, and everyday productivity. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Book 6

Hello everyone

I would like to buy a laptop, basic I wanted to buy the mbp m5 pro 14" of 64go for ~3190€ But because of the price increase, it is now at ~€3950. So since I have a Samsung I turned to the Book 6 but I don't know what between the Pro 14" 32GB and the Ultra 16" 32GB but without the RTX. They're both at the same price or a difference of €50.

I like 14" screens, but there's a lot of difference with the 16"? So it's better to wait for the laptops with the new Nvidia in the fall or the Book 7 in 2027 or the Mbp M7 Pro in a year. I've seen rumors that Apple could buy Chinese memories so potential decline of future MacBooks and especially the m7 chip could be very good for AI

I forgot to mention that I am a student in France so I have lower prices and there is not the ultra with the rtx among the offers.

Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra x Galaxy book 3 360

Bought the Galaxy Book 5 360 and now I’m treating it like a cursed relic — any POSITIVE experiences?

Alright r/GalaxyBook, here’s my confession.

I bought the Galaxy Book 5 360 a week ago, and I’m emotionally attached to it in a way that would be a red flag in any human relationship. If this laptop had boundaries, I’d be violating all of them.

Meanwhile my ("old") Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 is 7 months old, perfectly fine, never had a single issue — basically immortal — but the internet convinced me it was made of damp cardboard (especially the hinges).

So I panicked, grabbed the Galaxy Book for 700€ (a very good deal, by the way), and called it an adult responsible decision.

Sure. Let’s all pretend.

Then the Reddit Effect™ kicked in — you show up happy, and suddenly every post is a prophecy of doom written by someone who sounds like they’re broadcasting live from a disaster zone.

I fell into the screen cracking discourse — suddenly it’s treated like a fragile celebrity having a meltdown under bright lights.

At least the hinge is fine.

r/GalaxyBook hasn’t invented a hinge apocalypse yet.

Now I’m handling this laptop like it’s a cursed museum artifact, while my brain behaves like a raccoon next to a trash can, diving into posts I know will ruin my evening.

People make it sound like:

– the hinge is fine but I am not

– the screen is a diva with performance anxiety

– the chassis is solid but my mental stability isn’t

– and the laptop is perfectly normal — it’s me who’s allergic to existing

I don’t want horror stories.

I want the boring stuff — the “it works, I forget it exists” vibe. Even from other models owners (Because the issue is not "model related", as far as i know)

Basically:

Tell me this thing isn’t a ticking anxiety piñata.

Thanks — my sanity and whatever’s left of my dignity appreciate it.

EDIT:

also have a free 3‑month Samsung Care+ subscription, but I trust them about as much as I’d trust a kid who thought chasing a clown into a sewer was a good idea (from what i read on this channel, samsung it's a mess with warranties).

After that, I was thinking of switching to Fixxy (an Italian insurance company), which for a very reasonable yearly price (142.99€) would cover this laptop better than a blanket made from the hides of a sacred animal. So… any Italians here who actually know Fixxy and can tell me if this whole plan is worth it?

Galaxy Book vs Thinkpads - those who have had both , what do you like better on each?

I have been using some kind of thinkpad for the past 15 years (only because I could get them for dirt cheap in used market)

However Possibly looking at something like Used Galaxy Book 5 Pro as I heard they have great displays.

I Like the Keyboards on thinkpads, but the other stuff... I do not like... Terrible Displays, Terrible Speakers, Terrible Battery also under load they are very noisy.

If anyone has used both, can you share what you like better on each?

Anyone with Galaxy Book4 Edge (NP750XQB-KA2US) with default OS and partitions?

TL;DR.
I require the original files from system partitions of NP750XQB-KA2US (extracting files from EFI and Recovery partitions) to try reinstall the original Windows+Copilot with OEM apps and drivers to my laptop.

I had a problem few days ago with my Galaxy Book4 Edge that Windows didn't let use Keyboard and Touchpad to interact or even unlock screen, likely it was driver problem. Because BIOS did detected Keyboard and Touchpad normally but Windows didn't. Then i decided to reinstall Windows from clean Windows ARM64 ISO with injected drivers downloaded from Samsung Galaxy Books Download Centre for "make it work again", it worked but drivers are partially injected because need Windows Update to download and update the drivers to make them work again like Samsung Settings to enable protect battery feature.

Partially; Display Profile (doesn't get installed) and Color Engine doesn't work correctly and screen color looks a bit uncolorful, switching profiles from Samsung Settings doesn't work and it adds unsupported options that obviously doesn't work and personally I am dissatisfied seeing that inconsistency; that is why I require the original files.

Looking for an cheap laptop: Is Samsung Galaxybook 4 2024 still a good bet?

Hello guys,

I'm looking for an affordable computer (cheap and cheerful is fine, just not shite and fuck slow).

I am currently using a Chromebook but my use case has quickly outgrown this device.

I am a Bookkeeper so need to keep up with my applications (mostly cloud based) - Sage; Xero etc which isn't an issue on a Chromebook. I also need to do a fair bit of Excel and payroll (two applications which do not fare well on Chromebook - especially one with 4GB RAM). Once I have one too many things open, it snails pace.

In my free time, I'm pursuing learning to code as a hobby which again, probably pushes this little computer to its limit.

So far I'm looking at comparing the Samsung Galaxy Book4 2024 Core 3 8GB 256GB and the MacBook Neo. The Neo is currently £599 retail (not Apple Store) and the Samsung is £379 retail at a discount.

I'm kind of torn as to which one. Either way, it'll be a budget option that I intend on upgrading a year/ a year and a bit from now. I'd still expect some longevity from it though for at least a good few years.

My only concern is that I hear hit and miss things about the screen cracking/artifact/hinges busting on the Samsung Galaxybook. However I've tried to deep dive and cannot see much about these problems in the last year.

Wanted an honest opinion from both sides of the fence on this device/ which to go for.

Thank you
