Trimmer Stopped Working

I have an 80v Professional Trimmer that stopped working. I used it a few weeks ago and it ran out of trim line. I refilled it today but can’t get the motor to spin. The battery is fully charged and seated. I hear a small click at the motor when I pull the trigger but I get nothing else. Any recommendations on what could be wrong?

Any recommendation for a trimmer and edger?

My max is $180, need a tool that can do both trimming edges and weed wacking. Been looking at 24V Geenworks and Worex 20V.

True mulching blade for 21" 80v mower

Looking for a true mulching blade (mulching fins at the ends) for my Kobalt 21" 80v mower, which has the same proprietary chevron-shaped blade alignment pegs as the Greenworks counterparts. I know Walmart carries a 2-blade set for the Greenworks 2 blade mowers and I thought about buying that and just using the mulching blade since it has the same cut-outs but not sure if it has a cutting edge or if the 2 blade system depends on the other blade for cutting. Can anyone confirm whether I can just use the mulching blade in the 2-blade kit on a single blade mower? Alternately, I've also found some universal blades out there but I don't know how limiting the proprietary chevron-shaped blade alignment nubs on the Kobalt are. The universal blades usually have round side holes. Can I just use a universal blade with appropriately-sized round side holes or do I need to specifically find chevron-shaped ones? If not, are there any options available for this pattern?

Installing dual string spool on string trimmer

I’ve struggled in the past by doing it incorrectly so watched the GW video and the video doesn’t match the actual equipment. The video shows plenty of string extending beyond where the string is secured into place that you pull to free the string to advance once installed.
However, the replacement spool has maybe an inch of string to install then pull to free the spool. If I release the string to install it, the spool releases, and I have to reinstall string every 5-10 minutes.
Any suggestions?
Thanks…

80v go kart E005

I've tried multiple different batteries, all the wires seem fine. I talked to green works customer service, they cant help me because I cant find the serial number. I've looked every where on this thing for the serial number. Does anyone have any information on what I can do to get this running again?

Nice deal on 18" 80v chainsaw at Costco

I have been trying to figure out whether to keep some 80v Kobalt tools that I acquired without any batteries/chargers (see my other post about this if curious).

I see that Costco has an 80v chainsaw, only one battery but two chains, on sale right now. https://www.costco.com/p/-/greenworks-80v-18-25kw-chainsaw/4000228387?langId=-1

Lowes has a 16" 2.5ah Kobalt version and both 16" and 20" 4ah Greenworks versions, but those are either far more expensive (20") or no extra chain (16").

Given that it's from Costco, with its great return policy and 8-year battery warranty (but must be sure to register the purchase), and that I am quite willing to do a rail-ectomy on my 2025 Kobalt 80V hedge trimmer and 2018 weed trimmer bodies (rails appear identical to me), this seems like a no-brainer to me.

If I like the chainsaw, then I also gain the use of those other two tools. If I don't like the chainsaw, or if I have trouble modding the Kobalt tools to use the GW battery , then I have the return option at Costco. I also get the 8yr battery warranty from Costco instead of the 3yr/4yr warranty from Lowe's.

I will probably dull the full-chisel chain on the first weekend, but I'll have the backup and my chain file to lessen the trauma :-)

Do you see holes in my logic here? Experiences with this chainsaw that I need to know about?

Is it possible to raise my mower blade or wheels? I keep hitting dirt and screwing up my lawn?

Mower gets caught on grass, hits and kicks up dirt and stops randomly due to this causing me to waste battery life. I couldnt figure it out at all in the manual before my mom threw it away.

battery longevity

Read something interesting. If I want my Greenworks batteries to last a long time, the best way to do that is not charge them to 100% (ever) and not store them in a hot garage. Since I was doing both this is concerning. What got me wondering was Tesla's advice to not charge the battery over 80% unless needing it for a long trip, and not leaving car at 100% charge for long periods. Apparently it is the same for all lithium batteries.

60 v chainsaw

Hi all, I love my 8 year old-ish chainsaw but the darn thing hemorrhages bar oil. Is there a rubber gasket that I've lost? When I tried to look up repair parts, it looked like I could buy a whole new threaded replacement but mine looks fine, couldn't see a gasket that I could order.

Do I need to buy an entire new replacement or is there a gasket I never noticed before that I can order?

Thank you!

80 volt mower stuggles then stops on turbo mode

I have an 80 volt mower I purchased from Costco last year. The thing was a workhorse until about a month ago. It seemingly lost some power and now will stop after a few moments on turbo. I can run on normal all day long. I cleaned the bottom, and the batteries are secure when running. Any ideas on what can be done to get it's power back?

Cannot figure out how to add more trimmer line

I don't have a green line next to the hole to show me how to line it up to push the trimmer line through. When I push trimmer line into that hole that's very shiny it just stops and doesn't go anywhere. I opened it up and I thought well maybe I can just wind it by hand but there are two levels and I don't know if I should wrap half of the line around the first and half of the right line around the bottom. And anyway I'm having a terrible time figuring it out and I could use some advice.

After buying a couple of 80v greenworks tools at auction and trying them out, I'm hooked. The trimmer is a beast, the 1.5k chainsaw cuts better than anything I've had, and the edger left me feeling like I had never edged before in my life. Just incredible. Looking at a gen 2 mower, any tips?

Of course, I'm bidding on it at an auction that is a 1.5 hour drive away, so I'm unable to view it in person (but if I bring a battery after winning, I'm sure I can argue to get a refund if it's dead out of the gate). From what the crappy pictures shows, it appears to be in pretty decent shape (most home depot returns are) just missing the batteries. It's only at $9 right now but with 5 hours to go that is a meaningless number. The last one I was looking at that was the same as this ended up going for only $55 which I kick myself for not leaping on.

Before I go too far, while the GW 3rd gen 80v trimmer seemed to trounce my top end ryobi 40v trimmer when used head to head, is there as big of a difference in performance with the mowers? Looking at the blowers, the specs on my 800cfm whisper blower essentially match GW's offering for power. Plus I only have something like 1000 sqft of lawn, so it's not like I'm mowing for more than 20 mins.

As I type this I'm starting to think/realize that the difference is probably negable enough to ignore. Sure the turbo button would be nice to have, but some high lift blades may provide enough resistance to force the ryobi to stay in a turbo mode. Do gw mowers have gas like lift or am I stuck busting out the craftsman for when the twigs start piling up?

Edit: was sick and ended up missing the auction. I could have gotten a c20 robot basically new for 250ughhh

Is this broken part replaceable? (80V Weed Eater)

I wanted to check with others before buying a new weed eater. It was working fine and then started to make a screeching sound. I stopped to check for issues and found this part cracked. Is it time for a new weed eater or can I salvage this? Thanks in advance!

Greenworks 60V Edger

I'm considering purchasing the Greenworks model ED60L212 edger (SKU: 2703302). Couldn't find much info about it here, hopefully somebody has firsthand experience with it. I like this edger because it has the highest power output among GW edgers according to the specs on GW website.

Compared to other brands, I also like that GW mounts the edger motor down at the wheel, which would seem to offer three benefits:

  1. Direct couples the motor to blade without the need for a long vertical driveshaft and a 90-degree gear, i.e., more mechanically efficient with less possible failure points

  2. Lets the wheel carry the weight of the motor, reducing the weight you have to carry in your hand

  3. Gets the high-pitched noise from the motor farther from your ear

My use case is a suburban lot just over a quarter acre with a well-maintained lawn. I'm confident the GW edger could do the job, I just wonder if I'd miss the overkill ease with which my gas-powered ECHO edger does it. Among the very few videos of the GW edger, I see videos of people making double passes to get a clean edge. My ECHO gives me a clean edge in a single, high-speed pass. But this could be a function of whether the lawn is overgrown/unkempt in the first place. Would appreciate any firsthand feedback.

CRT 428 tractor blade maintenance

Have not done this yet. Am researching it. AFAICT jack stands and a floor jack are not recommended for safety reasons. I did put my CRT 428 on jack stands with a jack and chock blocks rear wheels and I thought the nut is reachable but also fear for my safety. So I looked into removing the deck. seems pretty easy, just move 2 cotter pins and their bolts and disconnect two power cables and slide the deck out. BUT I have no idea how heavy the deck is I got to wonder it must be a bear to put it back in place. Hoping someone else has done this?

What line diameter came installed on my 16” string trimmer?

I can’t figure out what diameter trimmer line was installed on this unit. It says it’s compatible with 0.095” and 0.080”. Does anyone know?

While I’m at it, I’m often trimming lawn along granite or river rocks. What diameter would you recommend?

Thanks for your thoughts!
