Anyone seen my cat (Windsor Place/Fox Hill Neighborhood)

Anyone seen my cat, male tabby goes by Mowgli. He's an indoor/outdoor cat, he mostly hangs around Fox Hill neighborhood but I'm afraid all the fireworks spooked him and I haven't seen him since yesterday. Please let me know if you see him, he scares easily. He has no collar because he loses them so much but he is chipped.

Is a ACAC short pump membership worth it? Taking suggestions!

It looks like a nice gym, but is on the pricier side. Looking for a good third place, so taking recommendations for those as well!

Henrico fireworks event at Dorey Park marred by fighting

I didn’t see any posts about this yet, maybe someone else was there as well and can give another perspective / more info on what happened.

I attended the Henrico Fourth of July fireworks event last night (July 3rd) at Dorey Park. The event was well planned with easy parking, plenty of event staff to direct traffic, a lovely hot air balloon display, live music, food trucks, etc. Shoutout to the Rec and Parks team for organizing the event and handing out free ice cold water bottles and 4th of July stickers.

However unfortunately the event was marred by fighting and violence. I arrived at about 8:30 PM, my kids in tow, and walked around the event to scope out good spots for watching the fireworks, scheduled for 9:45 PM. Plenty of families there, lots of unsupervised minors walking around as well. I went with friends to watch fireworks too when I was in high school, so no big deal in my mind.

About 8:55 PM suddenly all of these minors start running toward the area with the hot air balloons, followed by police. Presumably some sort of fight or skirmish. I decide to head back to my car to cool off, get snacks, let the cops get everything under control and wait for the fireworks show at 9:45. At 9:10 PM they cut the music and the police chief gets up on stage, tells the troublemakers to knock it off, and threatens arrests if there’s any more disturbances. Says they’re just going to do the fireworks show now rather than at 9:45 PM.

Fireworks show begins, I’m standing in the parking area by my car, and within a minute I see all of these minors again running together in one direction over near the area they’re launching the fireworks. Here we go again, I’m thinking. Then I see what I can only describe as a crowd disbursing in panic (I assume due to threat of a firearm). People running in every direction trying to get away from the stage area. Terrifying, and I’m standing 100 yards away. I get my kids in the car and we head for the exit. They cut the fireworks and music off after maybe 3 minutes. While we’re waiting in line to leave the parking area someone gets on the mic and says event’s over and tells everyone to go home.

I read some comments elsewhere from others that there were more fights happening before I even got there. I know there was a fight here at Dorey Park a few weeks ago after the Juneteenth event. But I figured the county would get things under control this time given that they had advance warning of the possibility. I was planning to go to the event on the 4th too with the laser light show at Crump Park but now, forget about it. What a disgrace.

Apartment renting - need advice on where to live in the area

Hello everyone,

I am a single female in my early 30’s who may be getting a new job in the Henrico area. I’ve been a commuter to Downtown Richmond for 3 years and haven’t made the jump to move yet. But the new job would be further away so I’d have to relocate.

I’ve researched apartment complexes but it seems they have a lot of negative reviews. So I wanted to ask on here.

Preferences: Quiet, Clean, less kids, safe, cat friendly, and laundry units in the apartment

Please share your positive and negative experiences. What complex you recommend and what you don’t. Thank you in advance!

Edit: I am looking in the West End area. Job is off of Mayland Drive. I do not currently live in Richmond or close by as I’m commuting 1 hour. Ideally would have rent closer to $1400 and don’t need a ton of amenities since I doubt I’ll use much of those.

Henrico knew about toxic gas leak the day it happened. Here's why they didn't notify the public.

How's your AC unit doing? As in how low are you able to go?

Let me first say, I know that I can't expect our HVAC to cool down the inside more than 20 degrees lower than it is on the outside. That being said - we had our unit replaced entirely with a larger unit back in 2021. It's not old. We have less than 1800 sq feet. And it's set on 78 both upstairs and downstairs and it's currently 80 upstairs. I asked my neighbor and their AC unit is older and they're able to get it down to 76 upstairs. So just wondering if it's me and my "newish" unit or what, lol.

Richmond region enacts voluntary water restrictions amid ongoing drought

The James River is “lower than we’d like to see at this time of year,” Richmond Mayor Danny Avula wrote in his weekly newsletter on Wednesday.

Avula added that the voluntary water conservation measures aren't a sign of an impending water shortage. The aim is to reduce “extreme or unnecessary” water usage so daily water usage isn’t interrupted, the mayor said.

“The James River Regional Flow Management Plan sets specific metrics for conservation specifically to make sure our region keeps our water sources sustainable,” Avula wrote.

Seeking spots in Henrico for family viewing fireworks 🎆

Seeking suggestions for fireworks and best spots to watch them for a family. Personally I’m in Glen Allen and would prefer being able to park somewhere and watch from the car if anyone has any suggestions. I think the raceway does them right?

My main concern is with toddlers idk how long I’ll be able to be out. This is my first time as a dad and their first time seeing fireworks. Could be 10 minutes, 30, or the entire event so that’s why I ask for not necessarily direct entry but perhaps off road or something nearby.

Henrico employees told power prices are about to spike?

Multiple sources confirm Henrico County employees got an email yesterday that urged electricity-saving measures because:

“the rate we pay for electricity used in all Henrico County government and school facilities will increase dramatically — by 25%, increasing costs by an estimated $5 million next fiscal year.”

How much are we getting in revenue from data centers?

Circling helicopter near Broad and Gaskins - anyone know what’s happening?

It sounds like the noise we’d get if a data center went in in our back yards.
