Obsessions Edited by Gary Raisor 1991
Lots of stories and lots of signatures. I really really like Dark Harvest Books Anthologies and this one is fancy. When i received it it was still shrink wrapped, I knew it was signed but didnt know it was a pc copy. Not the biggest fan of PC or Un-numbered copies but im not against them. My goal is to have the book even if its a trade copy.
Just picked this up at thrift store
For those who don't recognize it, this is the extremely loose source material for that 80s Tobe Hooper classic movie Lifeforce (I have the movie titled version of this book but this is the original 1976 publication)
Mysterious set completed!
So, after posting The Sea & Railway stories last week, a fellow redditer said that there were 4 in the set. Behold 😅
Book haul from the NecronomiCon in Providence
As always, the NecronomiCon was a complete embarrassment of riches. It’s a small miracle that I didn’t come home with even more books
Blackwater 2 - The Levee by Michael McDowell. Corgi 1985.
Cover by Terry Oakes.
Current collection alongside illustration of Trashcan Man
A collection that started with Pet Sematary as my first read in paperback. And grew from there. The most recent addition is a First Edition, late printing of The Stand. My favorite cover art, alongside 'IT'. I was so enamored by the illustrations in the Stand that I redrew Trashcan Man in 1993.
Night Visions 5 Edited by Douglas E. Winter 1988
Night Visions 5! The Night Visions series was Dark Harvest Book's bread and butter for the entirety of their ten year run. They were able to pump out 9 volumes before closing up shop. The series did live on for a few more volumes from Subterranean Press.
Two vampire themed found at the thrift store. Night Blood 1993. Under the Fang 1991.
Night Visions 9 (1991)
Alright people...at this point in my Dark Harvest Books Collection journey im at 22 individual titles. That being said, I've been searching used book stores, thrift stores, garage sales, Fb market place, Fb groups, Ebay and all other online book sellers. I do find some very very nice books but the price isnt usually nice...so I took a gamble. The pride and joy of Dark Harvest is their Night Visions series and I only had 3. I seen this listing and figured I could risk the 20. No pictures, stated used, cheap, I figured id be lucky to get a trade edition that has a dust jacket. I feel like I won a scratch off. Side note, Im starting to see the decline in "Fancyness" from dark harvest in the 90s. No interior illustrations and just front cover art. Awesome collection none the less.
Horror by James Herbert
Salvation Army shop again - 10p each. I really need another bookshelf!
INCUBUS by Ray Russell
Scarier than The Exorcist
Shaun Hutson omnibussesses
Ive always had a hard time finding Shaun Hutson. So...i decided to cheat and buy up some cheap multi novel collections. 6 books 14 novels.
Cover had a house covering/standing where a man's(?) upper face would be, only the man's lower face & upper body was showing. Red and black colors, with a drawn realistic style
Primary black and red contrasting colors, the house was red, man was white and the background/silouttes of the house windows was black? Realistic but a more clean/less little details style. It was probably a horror book?
I only remember the cover, as said there's a house covering/standing where a man's(?) upper face would be, with only the man's lower face & upper body showing. Kind of like this hill house show poster (https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTU4NzA4MDEwNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMTQxODYzNjM@.\_V1\_.jpg)
3 Tales of Horror by H.P. Lovecraft. 1967 limited edition published by Arkham House.
I was bought this as a birthday gift years ago and until recently had no idea of its rarity. A beautiful book with some lovely illustrations. Does anyone else own this edition?
The Third(1962) and Fourteenth(1973) Pan Book of Horror Stories.
Dreamthorp by Chet Williamson 1989
This was one of the first Dark Harvest Books I ever found. I had never even heard of this title but ive read Ash Wednesday and enjoyed it. I ended up enjoying this one also. Trippy story.
Favorite Covers of Forthcoming Horror Titles? What is catching your eye?
So curious to hear what horror covers are catching others attention? I feel like we're in the golden era of good covers for the genre. Some of mine:
A Deadly Blooming, Daphne Fama: Stunning artwork
Mother of Night by James Bennett: whatttt, this cover is top tier, and sign me up for medieval horror any time!!)
Kiss Slay Replay, Rachel Harrison: simple design, but fun. I love Rachel's book covers!
Hell to Pay, Kylie Lee Baker: the deluxe edition. Can't wait to read.
Tapeworm, AP Thayer: I think we're about to see a lot more cool af yellow horror covers. Those sprayed edges!!
Shortwave's VHS series (and recent re-design). Love a throwback and I already own a few of these.
The Henchperson's Guide to Unionizing, Marshall J. Moore: sprayed edges with a cute little creature feature...this one sounds like a romp.
The Ship of Death, Kyle Winkler: love this cover!
Recent cover reveals that caught my eye: Welcome Home, Mariam, Sanchita Mitra and Ana Must Die (Again), EJ Green.
