Anyone planning a 200hr YTT in Rishikesh this September? Would love to connect
Planning to be in Rishikesh in September for my 200hr TTC and wondering if anyone else is heading there around the same time. Would be nice to connect with people going through the same experience. Which school are you looking at?
Fellow ladies, how many of you take creatine?
Hot yoga (105°/50%humidity) is my main form of exercise. No weights or resistance training, just hot yoga 6 days a week. I (41F) recently read that creatine can be an important supplement for women to add into their diets just as it is for active men… however, like much of women’s science, there’s less research around it for us as there is for men.
For those of you who do hot yoga as your only or primary form of exercise, do you take it? Have you noticed measurable benefits in definition, stamina, and concentration? Have you had to increase your water intake even further?
Any insight is appreciated!
What is the etiquette?
I enjoy yoga, unfortunately I have a torn ACL and I guess the hip on the same leg is displaced and needs to be popped in during surgery.....which isn't another two weeks. Butt, the hot yoga makes that sweet sweet dopamine....
So here's the question, I go to YogaSix and take the hot classes, and usually after the warm up and half way through class we begin the three stage warrior series and my entire leg with the ACL and hip tells me to get bent.
How....rude is it to just take half a class and just lay doen the remaining half until Shavasna? Should I just stop coming?
Teachers, please provide insight.
Edit: used the wrong "Incite" hehehe.
Hot Yoga hack
I am a M55 and I’ve been practicing Yoga for slightly over ten years. Initially it was through a small gym I was part of. Later I took classes with LA Fitness. My early teachers were far better than at the big box gym.
When I began talking Classes at Yoga Six I was introduced to Hot Yoga. Needless to say my clothes were soaked to varying degrees. I now also practice at a second studio that makes Y6 seem mild by comparison.
I recently started rinsing my clothes in the bathroom after class in the sink. By soaking then wringing them out the sweat smell is heavily reduced.
I usually wrap inside my less sweaty ‘hand towel’. I hang them to dry in my bathroom at home to dry somewhat over night. My bathroom smells far less of sweat in the morning.
I hope you find this useful.

Have you ever experienced toxic leadership in a Yoga Teacher Training program and what did you do after completing it? And — would you leave an online review?
reddit.comAbout to invest in a Liforme yoga mat… is it worth the ££?
I’m going to hot yoga 4-5 times a week and absolutely loving it. It was my birthday last week so considering treating myself to a Liforme yoga mat!
They are spenny! Are they worth the investment? Are there any better options out there?
Just did my first 90 minute class and I hated it but I might go back LOL
The whole time I was wondering what a hellish experience this was and how I would never come back, but today is the next day and I'm sitting upright and centered and peaceful lol
What an INTENSE class
The usual classes are 90 mins but the instructor says they're very quick and not suited for beginners, can anyone attest to how quick they are? I would much rather prefer 60 mins than 90 mins LOL
TY!
Newbie with some questions
I am 4 sessions in and hope someone can help me please 🙏🏻
My current gears leggings and half sleeves seem to be unsuitable. I have seen people wearing running shorts - are they a good option ? Don't want to flash anyone.
Class size - last class I was in I was stuck at the corner, unable to see what the instructor was doing and the room felt too pack. I can only extend half of my leg side way rather than fully.
what is the ideal class size?
Etiquette - I notice we are just returning mats, rings to the wall and not wiping it down, I am also strapping on people's sweat a lot. Some people wear sliders walking around and some don't. What is the usually practice ? I don't want to be rude.
Being Too Friendly at the Studio?
There was a post awhile back (I can't remember if it was hot yoga or here) about "community" and making friends or at least quick chit chat with regulars that go the same classes as you. That post got me thinking that I could probably spend years at the studio I attend without ever making a friend or at least a yoga acquantaince that I can casually chat with or say hi at the studio.
As a result, I've been trying to chat with the instructors more, say hi to regulars I see at my classes and even have quick chats. I've made good conversations with the instructors and some of the regulars. So far, it's been great.
The thing is, I'm very introverted and it takes a long time for me to even break the ice with people (one of my best friends even told me, "you are a very difficult person to become friends with, you know that, right?") so doing this has been somewhat of an uncomfortable experience for me.
Now I can't help wonder if I'm being too friendly by saying hi or making quick chit chat. Has anybody else found themselves in this situation?
Am I overthinking things?
EDIT: Thank you everyone who responded, it's given me some perspective, I really appreciate it!
Request to add hot yoga to activity list
I've been an Oura user since 2022. I also practice hot yoga - pretty much daily. I typically add my hot yoga activity manually as the ring does not do well tracking activity in the heat. However, the only option is simply "yoga". I select the perceived intensity as hard (which I do for a vinyasa flow style practice, I go for medium if its more stability / align) but I feel the calorie burn seems low. I think that adding "Hot Yoga" to the list with a more appropriate reflection of the intensity would better help my tracking. Suggestion for the product backlog! Lastly I have a Heritage stealth ring. Its trusty and despite some wear, works just fine for me. I'm interested of you can comment on the performance of the new generation of rings for hot yoga or similar type exercise? Are there any improvements to the technology that would enhance performance in this use case?
The Heat Exposes My Real Mood Faster Than Anything Else
I've noticed that hot yoga doesn't just challenge my body—it seems to reveal my mental state almost immediately.
If I'm impatient, stressed, distracted, or frustrated, the heat makes it obvious within minutes. On calmer days, the same class can feel completely different even when nothing else has changed.
It's made me wonder if the heat acts like a mirror for whatever we're carrying mentally that day.
Has anyone else experienced something similar ?
Sweating AFTER
Hello! I’m new to hot yoga (6 classes so far!) and I’ve noticed something that I’m not sure is normal. I am sweating a lot long after class. I will shower, put on a new shirt, and within 10 mins I have sweat stains. I wouldn’t consider myself a super sweaty person, but the sweating lasts for about two hours after class. It’s weird too because I’m not hot. I’m actually quite cold and goose bumpy for a bit after class.
I’m not concerned. It doesn’t seem like a “problem”. I’m a teacher off for the summer, and I would like to continue my practice through the school year. I might not be able to go before work if I’m sweating through my clothes by the time I get there…
Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing, if it’s just a newbie reaction, or if I should be doing things differently.
Overall LOVE the practice so far.
back to the bad hot yoga skin.. sigh
Hey, so I notice that every time I take a break from hot yoga for a few weeks, whether I am literally sick or going out of town, whatever, my skin looks so much better overall. and no, it is not that I am not washing my mat. I clean my mat very well after every class and I am not breaking out in acne or anything. It is more of a general ruddyness and texture thing.
like right now I have been recovering from surgery and I am cleared to go back to hot yoga, which I love, but I am sort of grieving that I will lose this state of my skin in exchange for the benefits I get from hot yoga.. I have seen it before and know this pattern and it is very real for me. It is this current cycle of stepping away though which has made me fully realize how real it is and make me wonder if it's even worth it.
thoughts?
Started my birthday in the best way - with a hot yoga class!
Have another class booked for this evening! No other way I’d want to spend my day right now!
Infrared panels and hot yoga
My wife and I are opening a new fitness studio that includes a Pilates room at normal temperatures and warm mat plates/ Yoga studio which will operate between 85-95 F. We are planning to use infrared panels and a humidifier in the Warm fitness space where we maintain around 40% humidity. We are considering designing to separate HVAC systems but wanted to also consider one system where we just shut the vents off in the Warm studio and then open them back up after class is complete. Has anyone had experience trying to utilize the One HVAC system and what were the pros and cons that we should be considering. Our space is blank box so we’re lucky that we get to design some of this but the options and lack of experience are making it hard to determine the best route forward. recommendations greatly appreciated.
With the heatwave across the UK right now is hot yoga practice still safe?
I went this morning and feel okay but it was a stretching slow class. I’m due to go again this evening but I don’t know if I can manage…
I really need to invest in some decent, breathable yoga clothes as right now I’m just wearing any gym clothes I’ve got (I only started practising again a few weeks ago).
I’m staying hydrated and what not. Are other UK based people still attending their classes as normal during this high heat?
Is it bad to leave yoga mat in the car?
I recently bought the Lululemon “The Mat”. I typically go to yoga or hot pilates after work so it will stay in the car for a while. This is my first nice mat as I was using one from Amazon and kept slipping so I decided to buy this one. I just want to make sure it’ll be okay in the car for a long period of time.
