Has anyone tried Stretched & Balanced?

I signed up for a Stretched & Balanced class tomorrow. Has anyone done it? I am unsure if it’s just stretching or if it’s a workout of any kind. I was hoping to be able to shower beforehand if it’s just guided stretching

Sauna

There’s a woman at my club that consistently lays her sweaty workout clothes ( leggings, sports bra, top and undies) across the wooden railing near the heating elements while she is using the sauna. She wraps herself in a towel while she’s actually in there. Once her time is up she gets a shower and eventually comes back for the clothes but in the mean time this grosses me out. Am I being unreasonable?

Is anybody using the workout ‘Programs’ in the app?

I have been thinking about getting the Ladder Fitness app to get some structured guidance on my workouts, and implementing progressive overload.

But I just noticed there are Programs in the LifeTime app that seem similar. For example, a 6 Week ‘Shred’ program, or an 8 week ‘Body Blueprint’. The program provides a daily/weekly workout plan, shows each video workout in the app, and allows you to enter the weight used to keep track of progress.

I haven’t done the free trial of Ladder Fitness yet, but from my research, Lifetime workout Programs seem very similar!

Anyone enjoying these programs? Anyone compared it with Ladder Fitness?

Battery Park under $200?

Hi all, I'm seriously considering a membership. I see everywhere in NYC is $350 a month but Battery Park is $185 for the standard.

Am I missing something?

Also, is it difficult to get into classes? That is what I'd mainly join for...and the pool.

Parents beware of the kids club

I want to preface this by saying my kids had never been to daycare prior, so I was very nervous and hesitant to leave my 7 month old and 2 year old at a gym daycare. However, I just had 2 babies back to back and have been battling PPD and really needed something for myself. The facility seemed really nice and staff reassured me it was a very safe environment! I have so much mom guilt so please be kind, I mainly want to warn other moms and get feedback.

Today when I went to pick up my 7 month old, I watched her fall backwards and hit the back of head onto hardwood floor. She immediately began hysterically crying and I could not rush in to grab her because there was another baby under the door. It seemed like the staff were in way over their heads. One had his hands full with a screaming baby, and the other had no sense of urgency to help comfort her. It was traumatizing seeing my baby get hurt and not be able to help her. I alerted the front desk staff and they did not seem to care, they just said sorry and they would make a note to put a pillow behind her.

I spoke to the manager who apologized, but never once reassured me that it shouldn’t have happened and that baby should be safe there. She said she would watch the footage and call me back, but I never heard back from her. I definitely do not feel safe bringing my kids back. I can’t stop thinking about how many incidents like this have occurred that I wasn’t there to see. And I wonder if they would have even mentioned it had I not witnessed it. I ultimately cancelled my membership because it really did not seem like they cared. And I’m bummed because we really loved taking being able to take the whole family there! If you read this far thank you. Idk if I’m looking for advice or just need to vent because the whole situation was very stressful

SAUNA ETIQUETTE: Electronics!

I generally enjoy my LT membership (10yrs going) but have to say the sauna etiquette of the members is extremely lacking. If you are bringing electronics in with you, I shouldn’t be able to hear your music/podcast/news show while I sauna. Recently a guest was having a full on conversation on their phone while two others of us sat by and listened to their weekend plans. Perhaps LT staff can educate the guests on proper sauna etiquette. Other areas of proper sauna use can be improved upon too but the electronic use is low hanging fruit.

Is CTR and Core Pilates the same?

I’m checking out the online classes and noticed many people mention CTR. Since I only found Core Pilates in the studios I’ve seen, I was curious if that’s the same thing? I also have a separate Pilates membership that I’m planning to cancel once I join Lifetime.

GTX

Anyone else feeling that GTX isn’t enjoyable anymore?

Lately I’ve been feeling the workouts are too quick, I don’t have enough time in the strength section to properly lift without having to switch back to the treadmill or to another move. I understand they’ve got different goals, but I’m struggling to enjoy it like I used to.

Plus, the downtown chicago location removed a ton of strength focused classes, so you don’t have a ton of options to lift properly anymore.

Is gym etiquette even a thing?

Picture yourself on the cables, minding your business, you just increased the weight, your favorite song is on, Meg the stallion moving through you, flow state initiated. You’re mid rep and someone walks up to you and taps you causing you to lower the weight down move your headphones off your ear just for some bitch to say “hey I gotta do my set can you move?” Like girly pop. I just got here. What’s wrong with me doing my set? I was so taken back, surprised and pissed off by this interaction that I can’t even focus anymore. Flow state gone. At this point I left. I have a lifetime gym membership. We all pay the same. And it’s $$$. Where the hell do people find their audacity?!?
Has this ever happened to you? How would you respond in this situation?

Credit card payments

Just got an email that starting in August, a 2.5% fee will be added to my monthly bill for paying by credit card. I mean, come on. My monthly payment just went up from $460 to $471.

Anyone else get this?

Lifetime - already want to cancel?

I don’t want to go through the laundry list of disappointments. The facilities are clean and beautiful, but the customer service has been really bad, like borderline rude. Every time I speak to someone at the desk, or certain trainers, I feel like I’m being an inconvenience to them. Example: I told a GTX trainer that it was my first time taking the class and my first day at the gym and she just said “you’ll do great” and proceeded to not explain a thing. I ended up just walking away halfway through the class, because I didn’t even know you had to set the treadmill to the GTX screen.

I also want to mention that I have worked in customer service and am also a relatively shy person, so I try my best to be extremely polite on the rare occasion I speak to anyone. So I really don’t think the rudeness or dismissive tone is a reflection on me.

With the exception of 1:1 Pilates, the complimentary and discounted new member services have been really disappointing. I’m considering asking for a refund on the discounted “spa” service I received because it was that bad.

I know that no place is perfect, but am I the only one with this experience? My Lifetime doesn’t have a pool, pickleball courts, kids activities, etc. It’s just a gym. So for $340/month and the lack of amenities, I would think customer service would be at a higher level.

Am I being unreasonable?

Lifetime Fitness Referrals?

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the city and have really been struggling to find a gym that I've liked. I've tried a bunch and finally decided to just suck it up and go for a Lifetime membership - even though I'm not a huge class person, I workout almost everyday and it really seems like it's worth it too with all the amenities. And I figured it'd also be a good way to make friends too!

Before I sign up, curious if anyone is a current member and if there are any kind of referral bonuses out there? Would love to help one of you out/get some money back too if that's even a thing! And side note, has anyone ever explored going in on a dual membership with someone else? I don't know how strict they are about all of this but figured I'd ask!

ARORA Classes

Can anyone join the ARORA classes? I’m specifically looking at the ARORA Barre class since I have never taken an actual Barre class, and the TikToks I have seen look intense. The class does say go choice for newcomers and those with limited mobility.

Is CTR beginner friendly for those who have no pilates experience, a low fitness level, and a knee instability?

I'm interested in trying a CTR class at my local Life Time, but I was wondering if this is a class that would be a good fit for me? I am on a weight loss journey and started working out on the first of June, so I consider myself a beginner with a low fitness level. I don't have any pilates or reformer experience either. I also have a bad meniscus and ACL on my right knee, so I can't do any pivoting, fast movements, or very deep lunges or deep squats.

I want to add a core routine in my workout schedule. I was originally interested in Core Pilates, but the class costs extra money on top of my membership and a personal trainer who provided me with one session a long time ago said Core Pilates wouldn't be the best fit for me right now since I don't have any pilates or reformer experience and would benefit better with one on one training, which is even more expensive...

I am also doing SOL, EDG, and my own personal workouts that include cardio and strength training.

I have seen online on TikTok about how hard CTR is. I've also read an online article that it's beginner friendly.

Based on everything I've shared, would I see any benefit in taking CTR and enjoy the class?
