Guys I just realized the most subtle thing - this may have already been talked about but everytime the sheriff and his son are praying, they fold their prayer mats and I noticed the son always folded his wrong. It irked me but I just thought oh well it’s an innocent production mistake to make. However just today (as I was folding my own prayer mat lol) I realized that was a deliberate decision due to the son’s choice in the end. I’m so impressed with the attention to detail.

Carrie, a new series from Mike Flanagan, based on Stephen King’s iconic debut novel arrives October 7 on Prime Video.

Mrs. Carmody from the Mist was (obviously) the original Bev Keene, so it feels like there may be a re-contextualizing of Midnight Mass that’s happening now. Not to mention it’s the best (unofficial) adaptation of Stephen King’s best novel, Salem’s Lot.

To me, Midnight Mass was always the clear standout for Flanagan’s best work (half the time I watch it I feel like I’m in awe), but I know a lot of people still felt that it was Hill House. Wondering if that’s still the case in 2026? Hence, poll.

I recently started The X files and have been bingeing it ever since. I love it! And definitely recommend it to any Flanagan fans. I started to notice some things that may have inspired & influenced Mike Flanagan's work. After a search I learned that he is a massive fan of the show. Never missing an episode during its airtime. I know of the posters in projects like Midnight Mass and few other references. But I found one that's not talked about much. So I thought I would share it with you guys and gals here.

In S1E13 'Beyond The Sea' After a visit with her parents over the holidays. Agent Scully tells her parents goodbye. Later, In her living room she sees her father sitting in the living room and she says that she thought they had left. He is speaking to her but words really aren't coming out. Very creepy moment. And then she receives a phone call from her mother saying he is dead. I thought this seemed quite familiar. In episode 1 of Hill House this very similarly happens when Steve sees Nell in his living room. And receives a call that she is dead. Scully being a sceptic and Steve being a sceptic it just all kinda clicked for me. This moment was a reference to The X Files.

What are some details in his work that may be references of the X-Files that you've noticed? Very interested in coming back and reading them when I watch the whole show of course.

Did anyone else get moments of Mike Flanagan from the movie Obsession? Particularly, when they're at the party and she gives that monologue. It felt so Mike Flanagan coded to me & I can't help but assume perhaps Curry Barker a fan of his. Thoughts?
