I'm shocked I've seen such backlash. I thought it was great. From beginning to end. I thought the actresses who played Carrie and Sue Snell were incredible. Chris and Tina were very good as well.

There were a few roles that did feel miscast:

Miss Desjardins

- I just don't think she's a very good actor, plus she's literally 2 years older than most of the high school cast

Margaret White

- good acting, but just didnt fit the role for me. plus her bob felt too modern and trendy

Billy Nolan

- Chris was so far out of his league looks wise, and he wasn't giving bad boy, he was giving awkward nerd

But otherwise I thought the acting was good, the pacing, visuals, horror etc. I thought it was a faithful yet fresh adaptation. Anyone else enjoy?

This is the only version of Chris I feel any amount of “sympathy” for. like not a lot when she dies I don’t cry or anything I still think “well you made your bed” but I don’t see her as a full blown psychopath or just a embodiment of a mean girl and nothing more like I do with pretty much every other version lol

Like this is the only version I think has any nuance beyond just the mean girl that pushed Carrie too far

In 2026, Chris is an 18 year old adult and she circulated footage repeatedly zooming into a 15 year old's crotch. That's child sexual abuse material.

The school wanted to let a child sexual abuser off the hook and back into an environment consisting of hundreds of other potential victims with a simple "I'm sorry."

Carrie's classmates virtue signaled as if they were on her side but really they only protested Chris because Chris bullied them too. They applauded Carrie for Chris getting expelled, but then still left Carrie to sit at lunch alone.

They were just fine with Chris spreading CSAM of Carrie - that video got hundreds of likes.
Then they laughed and filmed it when Carrie was assaulted with the blood of a murdered animal to retraumatize her for her sexual abuse.

They were performative activists who used a SA victim for as long as it benefited them personally, then discarded and betrayed her when she was no longer useful to them.

I binged Carrie in two nights. I saw the original movie as a young teenager after reading the book, so I know the storyline and had an idea of what to expect. I'm also a Flanagan fan and saw the trailer, so I wasn't going in totally blind and unprepared. >! Firstly, I loved the expansion of the Chris-Carrie feud and the inclusion of modern technology into the story. I think both improved the narrative. However, the last episode, after the rampage, left me wanting. Without going into too much detail, even with the spoiler tag, I'm not happy about the way the ending changed. On Netflix, I got used to Flaniverse series being one-and-done and I liked that. I don't like the open-to-a-second-season way that this series closed and that might be why I just feel "meh" about it!<. This is the first series I've watched in a long time where I haven't tried to find Easter Eggs and BTS stuff on YouTube as soon as I've finished and that lack of extra interest has me feeling unsatisfied and empty.

Sooo I was soooo excited for the show as a huge Flanagan fan, but also as an enormous Carrie fan since I was younger! And I’m really glad to say that I really enjoyed the show and most of the changes! It was a refreshing take on the story and it didn’t disappoint me! The direction was also superb. The foreshadowing was cccrrraaazyy! Loved it! But I did want your opinion on some things that threw me off a bit.

1. Prom scene cuts

I don’t know how to feel about the prom scene being interrupted by those interview scenes. I feel like if it was one continuous, uninterrupted scene it would have such a bigger impact and it would be much more shocking, is it just me?

2. Margaret’s death

I feel like for me that was probably the weirdest change. Seeing Margaret having powers but also NOT dying from Carrie, but by a random character that we just got introduced to left me completely unsatisfied. Also I would love if she was a bit more abusive and not just extremely “over protective”.

3. Adelaide’s character

I just didn’t like her. She threw me off every time she was on screen but MOSTLY when the prom scene started. It just didn’t feel right seeing her on the stage along with Carrie, and especially when she “took over” Carrie’s powers, I was so confused. The whole point of the story is that Carrie herself breaks down completely after everything she’s been through. And having a random character “make” her do the entire massacre just felt anticlimactic and unnecessary. Especially since we don’t even know who Adelaide is. I just didn’t enjoy seeing her appear every now and then telling Carrie what to do, the whole point of Carrie’s character is that she slowly becomes “monstrous” on her own because of the terrible people around her. Idk, it felt weird.

4. The potential for next seasons

While I don’t have a problem with the idea of a “King Verse”, Carrie’s Prom sequence is the FINALE of her story. It’s the climax, that moment we were all waiting for. And I feel like that’s why this specific story affected me so much for all these years, because it ENDS like that and it stays with you as a horrible, tragic finale. But that’s why the story is so impactful. Now, Flanagan clearly built the idea that we still have a long way to go after the prom, which just feels odd to me. The prom is the end, not the beginning or the middle of Carrie’s story. So seeing her alive, escaping and a bunch of new characters makes me feel like the prom scene wasn’t as heavy and impactful as it should have been. That scene not being the end, being interrupted and also implying that Carrie wasn’t even fully aware of her actions just takes away the shock, the sadness and the emptiness that this story leaves you with.

Overall the changes were good, and the show was really enjoyable! But the ending didn’t quite work for me, i didn’t find it as shocking or as impactful as it should have been. It just felt like a generic teenage fantasy show, and not a heavy and iconic story. Still good though! What do you think?

I think I'm willing to go to bat for just about most things in this show. I really enjoyed it and I think Mike Flanagan did a lot of really good work adapting Carrie into something fresh, while still ringing true to the original text, AND setting up for a theoretical three part series. Even the last episode that turned off some people, I think I have a good argument for why it was done the way it was particularly regard Carrie's agency and Emaline's presence.

However, the one thing I can't really defend or wrap my mind around, is what happened with Sue particularly in her relationship to Carrie. It was front loaded, and felt fairly strong with what we got, but they cease to have another on screen interaction after episode 4 when Chris is revealed to be the CarrieRed_ account. We are lead to believe that they potentially patched things up off-screen at some point based on some dialogue between Tommy and Carrie, but doesn't that seem important for us to see? And unlike a lot of unanswered questions about the interpersonal dynamic of other characters (most notably Mr. Peist and Brooklyn), it directly relates to Carrie and Sue who's presumably making up a large part of the telling in medias res about the events leading up to prom. Do we think some scenes were on the cutting room floor? I'm just really curious as to how this happened, because it seems like the biggest gap in the narrative for me.
