According to NFHS-5 (2019–21), around 14.5% of Indian men aged 15–49 reported consuming gutkha or paan masala with tobacco. But the state-wise differences are massive. Nagaland (34.3%), Gujarat (33.6%), Odisha (31.1%), Madhya Pradesh (29.6%), and Uttar Pradesh (27.6%) recorded some of the highest rates, while Kerala (0.6%), Andhra Pradesh (1%), and Jammu & Kashmir (0.4%) remained among the lowest.
The data highlights how smokeless tobacco consumption in India is heavily shaped by regional habits, culture, awareness levels, and public health enforcement. Despite multiple state-level bans and anti-tobacco campaigns, gutkha remains widely consumed in several parts of the country and continues to be linked with rising oral cancer and other health risks.
Looking to order some food but no store available in zomato and Swiggy. Any other local stores that's open?
Just curious what the standard going rate is right now.
Absolute Adult beginner here. Also, it'll be helpful if anyone can drop institute names in dimapur.
Do you guys know any good seafood shop/market in Dimapur that sell stuff like octopus, crab, squid, lobster, etc? I’m looking for places with fresh seafood and good quality.
Thanks in advance!
Everyone in Kohima tells you how difficult it is to find rent but no one will tell you how to really find a place. 😭 I've been in Kohima for over a week now, staying at a guesthouse burning my wallet. I've got no leads, no one has a to let board here. That joldipabo page also has only inflated rentals available. My budget is also 10-11k which should be ok for a decent 1-2 BHK here, but still nothing. let me know if anyone has ideas on how to get leads.
Is it possible for a Mainlander to settle in Nagaland?
Is it difficult?
Let's be serious. The news just pushes too much of the narrative of "oo NE guy got called Chinki in Delhi or Mumbai". Yes, there are cases of NEs being attacked and discriminated against but they are depicted too often as if every second guy is willing to harrass and exclude you.
It doesn't help and honestly just makes Northeast Indians look like crybabies who complain all the time.
Some cases aren't even racial and the media just calls it racist for sensationalism. This allows bad people to utilize allegations of racism for power grabs and evading bad situations.
I mean, are we less racist? Outsiders too often get the short end of the stick in Nagaland and other parts of the Seven Sisters. NE ethnonationalists are more violent and exclusivistic than any mainland extremist yet no one knows.
People have gotten killed and mistreated here yet no one cares for them.
If we want to live in this country as equals we gotta let things be balanced and let the truth come out.
Hey everyone,
I’m a developer from Dimapur working on local-first tech (like my recent project, NagaTranslate). I’m currently looking for my next project and I want to build something that actually makes day-to-day life easier here in Nagaland.
I don’t want to guess what people need. Instead, I want to ask you: What daily task, informational gap, or routine inconvenience is the most frustrating?
One quick caveat: I want to build this entirely on my own as an independent, community-driven tool. Because of that, I’m avoiding anything that requires official government support, bureaucratic permissions, or access to sensitive public databases. I'm looking for things we can solve ourselves with a smart website or mobile app.
I’m talking about things like:
I’m not looking for high-concept "startup" ideas, just practical, self-contained tools that solve an actual headache. If you’ve ever found yourself saying, "Why is this so difficult?", that’s exactly what I want to hear about.
Looking forward to your thoughts!
I am planning to sell off my Seiko and don't seem to find anyone who's into watches in my own state

Hey everyone! 👋
First off, you can check out the web version of the project right here: https://nagatranslate.vercel.app/
I wanted to share a passion project I’ve been working on, a translator app for our local languages. While I’m not a native, I was brought up here and have always considered Nagaland my second home. I’m fluent in Nagamese, and over time I picked up some Sema and Ao words and phrases from my friends, but I always wished there was a dedicated translator available to help me learn more.
I also know that a lot of the youth today aren't getting the chance to learn their native languages. So, I built NagaTranslate with the goal of removing language barriers and helping preserve the beautiful cultural heritage of Nagaland. It’s my small way of contributing something back to the place that has given me so much. ^_^
We currently support translations to and from Nagamese, Ao, and Sema. I want to be completely transparent, the translations aren't 100% accurate just yet, but we are actively working on improving them every day. We are also planning to add Tenyidie and Lotha very soon!
I need your help! I’ve just rolled out an Android app version of NagaTranslate, and I’m looking for some early testers from the community to try it out, catch bugs, and give feedback on the translations before it goes public.

I lost my cat.. and I've literally tried everything... posted on Instagram, searched the whole neighbourhood, but there's still no sign of her. I'm posting here too, hoping someone might have seen her or maybe took her in thinking she was a stray.
If you come across an indie white cat with grey patches, please send me a picture or DM me.
Only a fellow pet parent would understand how heartbreaking this is.
I am currently in duncan. I wanna understand how line autos work. Cause hire prices are exorbitant.

The following is a rant and is to be treated as a political promise during an election rally:

Stop letting them in. We let them in with the hospitality we show to our own people, only to be betrayed by them. Call me xenophobic but I'd rather not see them thrive on my land. Stop guiding them through our roads, stop letting them do whatever they want. Why aren't ILPs more strictly enforced? Honestly, we should stop looking so hospitable to neither the white man nor to the ones behind the chicken's neck because all we're doing is telling them to come and exploit us. This *isn't* hate posting but you can remove this if you think it is. I just don't want to see them anymore.

Tired of labourers, barbers, coolies and such being them instead of Nagas. Tired of beggars too!

We never had a caste system! We don't need to outsource menial tasks or cleanliness to them. We can do it ourselves and we can keep our towns and cities cleaner if we don't have so many of them living around here.

If we get rid of those people, we might actually net positive on employment. Actual construction companies can pop up and we could actually have less audacious outsiders who show up to houses to kidnap and murder, or rape our sister, or steal from us with deceit.

I don't trust them because historically, we have villages that carry scars of their atrocities, and not because of the colour of their skin. Hate is a strong word and I don't necessarily hate them, I just don't like them enough to consider friends. Oh and not all NE is safe too cause we have Assamese gov making sure we lost the original maps of Nagaland because we sent the original doc so that's lowkey our fault.

And honestly, we had better principles before the white man came. The only good they brought was the good news of Jesus; otherwise, we are just savages in suits and boots.

Thanks and maybe drop your thoughts on why you think I'm wrong and maybe we could have a civil discussion.
Hi Nagas!
I just made a new friend who is from Nagaland but lives in another state now. Specifically, she is from Mokokchung.
In the comments please share some of your traditional food recipes! Hoping to get her some food that reminds her of home🙂❤️
Thank you!
