When should we be scared of storms

Like any Midwesterner, I grew up watching storms from the garage. Rain and lightning are cool, sue me. Red dots on ketv are invitations to watch something neat happen outside. It’s cool. But I know safety is also important, so when do you folks go inside?

I’ve found when debris starts flying, it’s time to come in, but many of you are from areas that get hit much harder much more often. I know it’s mostly instinct, but what is your indicator on when to go inside, and especially when to go to the basement?

Medicaid - Work Requirements Questions

I have been trying to navigate these new work requirements for my Medicaid as someone also going through the disability process.

I FINALLY spoke with someone at DHHS today that said I will need a note from my doctor saying my disability keeps me from working. I read a few articles online that stated a letter from a doctor is not enough to prove disability to receive any federal benefits.

I realize most of the articles are talking about receiving disability payments, but it makes sense that a simple letter would not meet the federal threshold of proof. It seems flimsy that that's all DHHS would require and the last thing I want is to follow their instructions and get screwed out of my Medicaid (DHHS has given incorrect information on multiple occasions.)

Is anyone else having difficulty navigating this whole song and dance? Even if I do have to volunteer, I can't find where to enter my hours online. And if I make the minimum $580, how am I showing that?

Feel free to vent in the comments if you're having as much fun as I am.

Need help finding a certain hiking trail.

Hello! I need help finding a trail in Dannebrog. I went there around this time last year with an old friend, and I’d really like to revisit it. I tried looking it up, but the hiking trail that keeps coming up isn’t the one we went on.

All I can remember is that we went from Roger Welsch Ave E onto Liberty Rd. I have no idea how far we drove after that, but the location we ended up at had an old wooden sign, from what I can remember. I’m not even sure if it was an official hiking trail — my friend just said it was.

We had a falling out, so there’s no way I can ask them. Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Moving to Omaha in 3 weeks!

I'm excited to finally move to the Midwest. I've wanted to for 20 years. I just did an extended visit there which confirmed my love of the area, attitudes, culture, and people.

I love really spicy food and I'd love any recommendations for restaurants that know how to bring the heat.

Thanks!

Pardon me if this isn’t the right place for this, but I recently acquired a brand new wheel for my 93 Ford Explorer and it apparently originated from Laird Motors in Hastings NE, if anyone has any info on when the dealership closed or any history I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

New apartment problems

I moved into an apartment in Nebraska last month and noticed right away a piece of the siding was blowing around making noise I could hear/feel inside my apartment. I put a request in and maintenance claimed there were no issues with the siding even with the photos I sent in showing otherwise. I put in another request to fix it yesterday because it has gotten worse and sounds like someone is hitting the wall with a hammer. They denied it being needing fixed again and the maintenance guy made sexist comments towards women in the office too. They have video evidence of the problem and they know it is causing sleep disturbances for my wife and I. I was diagnosed with leukemia a few weeks ago and I need my rest. Is there any actions I can take other than breaking my lease? I called and emailed corporate but haven’t heard anything. I put the two requests to fix the problem on April 18th and again May 18th.
