Hi, my name’s Emma Croteau and I’m a reporter for the Flatwater Free Press. I’m working on a story about Nebraska teachers who’ve chosen to leave the profession and why. I’d love to connect with any former educators open to sharing their experiences in education and their decision to leave teaching, including what they do now instead.
Any responses here won't be included in my work. I'm hoping to speak with you after any initial comments. You can also reach me directly at my email ecroteau@flatwaterfreepress.org. Thank you for your thoughts and consideration!
Hey, Omaha. Chris Bowling here from Flatwater Free Press. We posted a while back asking for you to sign up for FREE soil tests for our ongoing project on the Omaha Lead Superfund Site. Now we’re trying to get the word out in Council Bluffs and wondered if this subreddit could help spread the word.
Omaha is home to the largest residential lead cleanup site in America due to more than a century of industrial lead pollution but Iowa received the same cleanup.
So far we’ve written about the federal government re-examining cleanup levels here, shortcomings in testing and frequently asked questions we’ve received.
If you live west of 16th street and north of Lake Manawa, or know someone who does, I'd love to test the dirt! https://flatwaterfreepress.org/lead-testing/
Hey, my name is Chris Bowling and I'm a journalist at the Flatwater Free Press in Omaha.
Omaha is home to the largest residential lead cleanup site in America due to more than a century of industrial lead pollution. We're investigating the effectiveness of the cleanup (which involved digging up and replacing yards in Omaha) as well as testing in Iowa — which never received the same cleanup.
So far we’ve written about the federal government re-examining cleanup levels here, shortcomings in testing and frequently asked questions we’ve received.
We're offering FREE soil tests as part of this project and we're trying to get some more signups on the Iowa side of the river in Council Bluffs and Carter Lake. If you live west of 16th street and north of Lake Manawa, I'd love to test your dirt! https://flatwaterfreepress.org/lead-testing/
