Well guys, this thing clicked in my mind about a problem with students and people looking for flexible work in Nepal, and guys i just want to get a critical opinion on this idea, so you guys can be brutally honest and criticize me as much as you want, that'd be of great help.
So euta side ma chei there are students who want to earn some money but don't necessarily want a traditional part-time job, well nepal ma student ko college time sanga match hune job pauna ni garo cha, ani plus hangouts ko lagi ta 3 4k le nei pugcha ani students do want quick money just enough for hangouts bhayeni instead of having to wait for a salary last samma.
Students ko case ma, lets say they have 3 free hours on Saturday, a week off from college, or a few days where they're free. They might be willing to do things like tutoring, helping someone move, event work, data entry, packing, cleaning, helping a small business for a few days, etc.
But most of the places where you look for jobs are built around the idea of an actual job, something ongoing, with fixed hours and a longer commitment.
On the other side, there are people and small businesses who sometimes need someone for a very specific task.
For example:
I need 2 people to help move some furniture tomorrow.
I need someone to help set up an event for 5 hours.
I need someone to help pack orders for two days.
I need a tutor for the next two weeks.
I need someone to help clean/organise something.
I need an extra pair of hands at my shop this weekend.\
aba yo examples ho, tbh i dont know how realistic these examples are in a larger market, tara i have seen esto hires once or twice chei
So now, these aren't really full-time jobs, and sometimes they aren't even conventional part-time jobs. They're just small, short-term jobs that need to get done.
So the idea I'm thinking about is basically a marketplace specifically for this.
Someone who needs something done posts the job → people nearby who are available can apply → the employer chooses someone → the job gets completed and both sides can rate each other. basically like indrive but for freelancing😭
The main focus would be quick, short term work, instead of traditional permanent employment.
I'm not claiming this is a completely new idea. I've found a few things in Nepal that are somewhat similar, which is actually one of the reasons I want to ask here rather than just blindly build it.
What I'm really trying to figure out is whether there is actually a large enough employer-side market for this in Nepal.
I can already see plenty of people who would want to earn this way. But that's only half the marketplace.
Tara if there aren't enough employers who would hire and actually pay students or freelancers as a whole for these small tasks, then the whole thing will fall apart.
I am not asking you guys to answer all these, but i do need opinion from you guys haii please
So, Does something like this already exist in Nepal and I'm just unaware of it? If it exists, why hasn't it taken off?
Would you actually use something like this if you needed a quick job done?
If you're a business owner, would you post a 2-hour/1-day/1-week job on a platform like this?
What kind of jobs do you think people would actually pay for?
What would stop you from using it?
Is the employer market in Nepal actually big enough?
What problems do you immediately see with trust, payment, safety, reliability, scams, etc.?
Ani last chei ,do you guys think this is actually gonna work😭
Ani also i am a bsc cs student ani this is the first project i would be working on so money is not my main motive, i js wanna be working on something that interests me and could be a star point in my portfolio
If people here think there isn't actually a need for something like this, I'd rather hear that now before I put a lot of time into building it.
So yeah, long post i know, but any or every opinion would be appreciated😭
It seems like I've come across something when trying to contact Nepali businesses.
I will come across a business which has a decent Facebook and/or Instagram page but no proper website. Then I will reach out to them with a message something along the lines of:
"I've noticed your business lacks a website. Are you interested in getting it made?"
Silence.
Silence as in no response at all, not even a "No thank you".
I am just really curious about the reasoning behind it.
Do these businesses:
Believe there's no need for a website anymore?
- Receive sufficient amount of clients via Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or WhatsApp?
- Think websites are too costly to develop?
- Not trust some stranger reaching out via the internet?
- Do not fully realize what can be done using a website?
- Have some bad experience with developers previously?
- Or are simply too busy?
From my point of view, a lot of these small businesses would benefit greatly from having **services/products offered, address, Google presence and customers inquiries
As a developer, I think there’s a problem here. There is so much that small businesses can benefit from by bringing all these features – services offered, products, location, contact details, Google presence, and customer queries – together in one place.
However, maybe I am approaching this problem from the developer’s point of view and I’m missing some aspect.
If you are a business owner in Nepal: Would you consider having a website for your business? Why not?
Hi everyone,
I am looking for a co founder who is interested in building a business in wellness and supplement field. I am from technical background and currently exploring opportunity to build a brand and I see huge potential in this sector. The idea is early so if anyone is genuinely interested then I am open to shaping the direction together. It would be a plus point if someone already has experience in food science, nutraceuticals or food nutrition.
What do you guys think about recently launched Pathao Commerce? Value for money or not? Too complicated/complex with lots of features?
What do you think an ideal solution like Pathao Commerce should have and should not have?
Hello everyone!
We're two founders building something called Konyct - a place meant to help small/emerging Nepali brands actually hear from the customers who care about them most, instead of just chasing likes and followers.
We're starting with a pilot in one category to get it right before expanding further, but the idea itself isn't tied to any one industry. It's meant to work for any brand with genuine regulars weather that's food&beverage, fashion, tech and so on.
Before we go further, we wanted to come to a community that actually understands running a business in Nepal because we know there's a real gap between "sounds good in theory" and "actually works for a small business here".
A few things we'd genuinely value your take on:
if you run a brand or small business - what's your actual experience been with building customer loyalty/community here? What's worked and what hasn't?
If you are a regular somewhere - a shop, a cafe, a service you keep coming back to - What would actually make you feel recognized, beyond a discount?
Anyone who's tried building a community or loyalty programs in the Nepali market - What would you tell us before we make the same mistake?
We genuinely want to learn from people who know this market better than we do. Happy to share more about what we're building if anyone's curios but mainly just want to hear how this community sees it.
Thanks for reading. Appreciate your knowledge, thoughts, expertise, even critical ones.

I am launching a community-based commercial water purification project in Kathmandu. The equipment setup and technical solution are ready. I am looking for a co-founder who is familiar with the local market and brings local resources or capital.
Project Focus: Community commercial water stations (high-frequency demand, clear revenue model).
Partner Role: Local outreach, business development, or seed funding/distribution channels.
Cooperation: Equity or profit sharing (negotiable).
If you have local connections and see potential in the safe drinking water sector, feel free to DM me for details!
Gng, you also have had some dream like me before 18. Some of you hard worked, some went lazy, for some time sky rocketed.
What were your regrets? What would you like to suggest me?
IF YOU HAVE TIME TO READ:
I am targeting my first 10K upto my next birthday. I am going to learn AI as my skill and then slowly proceed into vibe coding. Cause that's my interest and want to create a app for my father's small shop. {For context: I am still middle class family even if I have a shop, It's too small going towards loss IG}
My plan: I will create an app for my father's shop, then the shops beside our's will be inspired of us and then reach out me. If not I will tell them benefits. After everything, I have many plans to create more apps (concepts are too high level which will attract costomers)
I have also got name in IOE around 1700 rank and going to study civil engineering. I guess connecting civil engineering with an app will be more better.
Besides I am also interested in animation, I own a secret YT channel and want to grow it to its peak level. Create some networks there.
I also got interest in learning about business minds from past 3 months but have not got the right path. Ex: How business mans use their strategies to grow, fall anyone. How they connect everything.
I personally want to open a new business rather than getting a job for earning.
But I would do job for learning new things (if worth it online) even if I get paid less.
Also starting workout as a skinny guy, learning boxing.
So at the end after knowing all these what you would like to suggest me? If anyone is here for personal guidance who is successful I would really be inspired and happy.
we can invest only person interested and have knowledge dm
