Motivation

I’m just gonna be honest I hate every popular knight motivation idea.

The knight wants to find the Dess.
No, they don’t. How does killing Tenna and summoning a Titan help with that at all.

The knight wants to cause the roaring so they can do X.
No, they don’t. If they wanted to do the roaring, they would just stab the ground a handful of times and be done with it.

They’re just following the prophecy.
No, they aren’t. Half the things they’re doing aren’t in the prophecy.

They’re training up the heroes so the heroes are strong enough to Y in chapter 7.
No, they aren’t. If they wanted to train the heroes why not just train the heroes?

They just wanna cause destruction.
No they don’t. If they just want to cause destruction, they would’ve killed the fun gang, Toriel, and Undyne at the end of chapter 3.

So what’s your motivation for the knight and their evil groupchat? So much.

The second part of "How long did It Take her to smile" is now open

This time, the question is, "Where will it Take Place?"

Does Dessknight have, like, actual evidence?

As an undercover Dess Knighter who thinks it's tematically fitting, Is there Any evidence as of Chapter 4 for Dess? The whole fandom can't be that dumb right?

I just realized.

Alphys said she lent Asgore “comics” and since she’s a weeb, they’re probably actually manga. Those same comics are sitting on his tv.

That’s why the flower king world is Japanese.

The Rudy Fallen Angel (Devil/Lucifer) Theory | Rudy Knight

"Rudy can't be the Knight because he's nice and—" NO HE'S LITERALLY THE DEVIL.

Just look at Rudy's text box sprite. He has a goatee, a pencil mustache, a face shape, a hairstyle, eyebrows, a grin, eyes, and laughter — all just like the devil, and his antlers are... Christian crosses instead of horns? Well, this is very very interesting.

The Roaring Knight has these antlers with crosses too, but they're curved. It's like his antlers are turning into goat horns. Huh, goats. The symbol for Satan is a goat. If Rudy is the Knight, then his deformed antlers symbolize the fall. The fall of Lucifer. Rudy turns into a fallen angel in the Dark World, even though he's still innocent in the Light World. Or his motivation partially justifies him.

We also know that Dreemurr are goats. And who is their family's main friend? This is Rudy. Tenna's flashback, Fireshock spell and wedding photo point to it, Asgore's best friend is Rudy, Toriel communicates with Rudy, but doesn't like Carol and so on. He is the most goat-like reindeer among the Holiday family. Rudy even melted Carol's cold heart.

Let's go back to Lucifer. In Latin, Lucifer translates to "light-bringer" or "morning star". Light-bringer can refer Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on which Rudy is based. Rudolph's red nose glows/shines in the cold (Carol's and Noelle's symbol) and darkness (the Dark World) on Christmas Eve. The Knight can glow too. The Soul can shine too, using it against the Knight. If Rudy is the Knight, then it's ironic.

The hospital wallpaper has a sea (depths(darkness)), seahorses (dark horses-a chess horse-the Knight), starfishes (the Knight's bullets). btw stars glow and shine too.

Okay, there's also the devil's face on his sweater, a connection with Jevil, Friend and Gaster, plus the "Don't Forget" and "Raise Up Your Bat" lyrics and more. Just check the image or add something else in the comments.

And here is the most important question: Are these strong arguments for/a confirmation of the Rudy Knight theory? NO. Just a lot of interesting details before the release of Chapter 5. Some of them may be true if Rudy Knight turns out to be true. The rest will just be speculation.

Thanks to u/4Fourside for the idea of this theory! Before his comment, I was thinking about Rudy's appearance too, but the only thing that came to my mind was that he looked like Uncle Aaron from Spider-Man. btw, he's a very nice person in the Deltarune fandom.

The device theory

Just a quick theory at 3am, probably easily debunkable

Couldn't the roaring knight be a "device" made by gaster?

More specifically, a device used by a monster (instead of an armor) like the orb in the middle of the knight (they even use it to travel faster)

In undertale, we see that gaster is trying to create synthetic souls/determination to break the barrier, a study continued by alphys

In deltarune, the "survey" could just be gaster testing the device, which could either be the synthetic soul itself, or a lure for a real one.

As for the knight's identity, i'd say it would make it more likely for it to be:

- gaster: controlling the device from the shelter

- vessel: taking the synthetic soul as their own

- goners: maybe if they're turned into servants? Idk about this one tbh

PS: i know there's some people that believe ut and dt are unreleated, but afaik it's never denied that they're connected in some way

I don’t believe Dess is the knight but I do believe she is in the Shelter

If you think about it more and more it would make more sense, but basically the Christmas tree symbol on the Shelter represent Dess not Carol. How I think this well connected the signs. Dess is missing and Undyne was dragged into the shelter making her also missing.

If this is true does it disconfirm most of the Holiday Knights because why would they do this. Well technically yes. Now will this happen in the game possibly you never know.

Go over some strengths and weaknesses of your Knight Candidate (be as honest as you can)

Strengths:

  1. Body shape and ribcage.

  2. Gaster connections.

  3. Has the opportunity to be at every fountain with no little complications.

  4. You Know What This Is

  5. Cocky.

Weaknesses:

  1. Wouldn't know Gerson.

  2. Pretty detached from a lot of hometown.

  3. Only recently moved in.

  4. Presented as a character opposed to heavy violence.

I have a Roaring Knight theory that makes some sense

I have been thinking and I honestly don’t like the existing theories for the Roaring Knight’s identity, first and foremost they all have plot holes, here are reasons why they don’t work: any theory for it being a Holiday doesn’t work because first of all you can’t fit the helmet on any of them (the antlers make putting on a helmet with antlers or any other shaped horn space in it impossible), and for the Dreemurrs well Asriel is at college, we see Kris and the Knight literally right next to each other, and of course Asgore would not cause an apocalyptic event because that will endanger his family, Father Alvin also cannot be the Knight because like each previously mentioned candidate his body type doesn’t work and also because he wouldn’t endanger the whole world, and even though Papyrus has a good body type to be the Knight he lacks any motivation or the evil that the Knight has, if anything Papyrus would hug a Titan. And no one benefits from the Roaring besides the Titans so that’s where my theory comes into play: What if the Knight is a being of pure darkness like a Titan that had absorbed a SOUL. After all its application that makes a Human SOUL specifically dangerous to Titans, it’s not far fetched the Knight is a Titan-like being that absorbed a Monster SOUL and gained intelligence. Also just to add insult to injury the Knight can’t be a Lightner because it can shapeshift and it’s “visor” is its mouth, in Chapter 4 it is laughing right before it makes a Titan. Anyway this theory is to explain the high power of the Knight and why it would be trying to cause something where only Titans would survive.

Summary: basically all Knight theories have massive holes in them and this one basically just says that the Knight is a Darkner with a SOUL that is not an object but it’s more similar to a Titan than a Darkner overall.

Edit: OK I realize there are major holes in my theory as well as others.

I get that DessKnight is the most likely theory, but what could this possibly mean other than RudyKnight.

Rudy seems to be an outgoing guy. So why is he so cold to Susie here, when he would’ve been fairly friendly toward her the previous day (Other than him being the knight)? Like, just look at the way he mean mugs you and gives you the cold shoulder when you try to talk about Susie. He does NOT like her.

I’ve yet to see a satisfying explanation for this. The main ones I hear getting repeated is that ”He doesn’t want Susie’s first impression of him to be his sorry state after church,” and that “He doesn’t want to speak with you after church.” Both arguments I would concede to… if they made any sense to me.

Meeting him for the first time in Ch2, he’s a sick man in a hospital bed. In Ch4, he’s a tired sick man in a hospital bed. Not much difference for Rudy to get hung up over. And even if that’s true, it still doesn’t make sense for Mr. Extrovert to give Susie the mean mug + cold shoulder combo like that.

As for the second possibility. He’s perfectly fine with talking about, to, and being friendly with Susie if they talked in chapter two. And even if they didn’t, Rudy is still willing to talk about tomorrow and the festival, ONLY giving you the cold shoulder when trying to talk about Susie (If you want to check for yourself, just boot up Ch4 without a Ch3 save file and skip dialogue till you get to Rudy in the hospital). He doesn’t want to talk or about Susie specifically.

This scene is what made me a RudyKnighter. Why did Toby Fox take the time out of his day to write this scene if Rudy wasn’t the Knight. Why write such a blatant, in your face suspicious scene. Why?

Might be a weird question , but who do y'all consider the black figure & black deer from Freedom Board 3 from Chapter 3 to be representing?
