People are far too comfortable crop dusting in public stores
They be like *poot* and move on. In a small store, that's RANKKK and you know Sally's doesn't pay for quality ventilation in the store.

i know it’s time for me to leave sally’s. i just snapped at a customer. i was helping a customer at the register and we get to the total and she wants a cheaper version no problem! then all of a sudden some OTHER lady cuts in beside her and puts her phone in my face asking me about wella semi permanent and i just stare at her bc how RUDE. i hate when they do that! so i look over and say just give me one second and go back to talking to the lady. she had artic fox and i was giving her other cheaper options . i said oh you can try the ion semi or the iroiro. The other lady cuts in AGAIN and says “no it can’t be those brands it has to be the wella brand” & i immediately without even thinking snapped & said “well i wasn’t talking to you i was talking to her “(the original lady i was helping) it came off so harsh but OMG i hate when they do that!! i cannot talk to everyone at the same time !! so just wait! don’t come up to me in the MIDDLE of me talking to somebody it’s so rude !
if you have extra clear bins, make an employee’s fav section at the register. I usually put the color sealer and sauce masks, one of our girls does the viral nail glue, and some others just put bet seller stuff.
$1 or less nail files as cash wrap. Older ladies always quickly buy a few.
Textured hair clearance items on empty spots on cash wrap. We did it with the clearance Mielle hair care set that went on clearance last year. We put it up front around Christmas and sold all of them.
And just essential stuff behind the register, like hair masks, heat protective sprays, hair color additives, hair masks, simple things like that.
With some purchases like semi permanent hair color, hot tools, or the repair or moisture shampoos/conditioners we recommend the color sealers, repair masks, and heat protection stuff.
Also remember that low UPT most of the time isn’t our fault. With prices going up and AI taking jobs and the gas prices, people are struggling. So ofc they are only buying what they need. And people can usually tell if you’re trying to upsale, keep these reasons in mind, you can’t control how much money people have. :)
Have a great weekend guys!
Anyone else had better luck with this? I already had three customers come back to the store looking for another dye, because the new ION root cover dye didn't do them any justice. It also stains the scalp a lot, but it doesn’t stick on to the actual gray.
Please anyone who can help verify things for me respond to this 🙏
So first off is it true that more that 2 call ins within a 4 month period can result in an occurrence or in other words- a write up?
Today I had to contact upper management about my manager threatening to write me up if I missed today. After I had kindly asked to use my sick day hours because I woke up sick today. I let her know over 5 hours before my shift. Now personally, I don’t really care about WHAT the policy states or what is typical to see in the world of retail politics.
I care about being a good human being.
I work 2 jobs to keep myself afloat, I’m in the middle of moving, my last call in was because my little sister was rushed to the hospital after she was found unresponsive. These are all things my manager is well aware of.
If the roles were reversed I wouldn’t even care- I’d help out my employee and let them take their sick day after knowing what was going on in their life.
TBH I have felt targeted lately by both my manager and assistant manager. But it wasn’t really until what happened today that I truly listened to myself…
Is this normal for Sally’s? I’ve worked for this company for years now and have gone through over 5 managers 6 if we include her. And never ever has this happened until now.
Does your SM help with shipment? My DM said store mangers are not supposed to help put it out lol? Since when is that a policy??
if I have to deal with one more customer come in and tell me they used ai to find out what to do with their hair and show be those dumb ai photos of their hair with different colours on them. then they try to tell you the ai is right when it’s just so wrong it hurts, and mad when I tell them that the ai answers are not correct.
everytime this happens I think I loose a year on my life
Are slides considered “sandals” under the dress code? Also, would a tank top with 1½–2-inch straps be considered acceptable as a sleeveless shirt? I have a coworker trying to argue that both are allowed, so I’m just looking for clarification.
I’ve been using box dye for years but the developer in it is too harsh so i’ve been considering switching over. There’s just so many options and im scared if i try something new it won’t be as dark as id like.
I’d prefer something that’s deposit only no lift and on the cooler side, like, as far from brown as possible. I’m probably gonna grab age beautiful or ion but if you’ve tried something better LET ME KNOW! ✌️❤️
I’ve been employed for 10 months. I’ve been consistently the top weekly/monthly LM Performer. I complete all tasks assigned and I feel like I’m the only person in my store that takes initiative to do things while everyone else including the SM is lazy.
I took a LOA because I was getting fed up and the icing on the cake was the day before inventory my SM had me prepping the whole store myself as the 4 days prior she was on vacation and didn’t delegate any prep tasks (this was my first inventory with SBH). So she came back the day before to just have me do all the work while she sat on her ass in the back room. I actually was fighting myself to not walk out.
Today was my first day back from my LOA and I’m tasked to finishing the entire nail polish plano update myself. On top of doing all these tasks and projects myself I’m only scheduled 13 hours per week. So first thing when I get in tomorrow is quitting. I can’t do it anymore.
How do you nicely deal with customers who constantly complain about having no rewards? They always swear up and down that they “spend so much money here,” or “that they come here all the time.” But when you check their history, their last purchase was a single $18 item four months ago.
Does anyone have a problem with deals not coming up for certain things?
Im not gonna lie for me i just chnage the price everytime and blame the company to the customer bc they are always doinf this. Just checked out a customer for the new kaleidoscope line and it didnt work… i just changed the price honestly to me my numbers of hitting a three are more important than the store losing 12.99 for one item. B2g1f is easy win for me but the company fucks us all over by having it not load in the system or take random products off the deal without telling us and then it makes us look bad as a store so i always blame the company to the customer and always give them the deal bc i really dont care. They alwaya come back and tell me how amazing i am anyways…
This company is so unorganized its insane….
I am a manager who is chronically ill (h-EDS, POTS, Scoliosis). I love my job, but I find it hard to find the time to take my 10-minute breaks or slow down. Are there any other SM’s, ASM’s, or even FT BA’s that are chronically ill that can give suggestions? I’m starting to understand my conditions, but tips for how to actually take the breaks I NEED or make my day a little easier would be appreciated!
Hey! I'm unsure if this is the right subreddit to ask, but I'm interested in how I would achieve this blonde, and a recommendation on a good color brand for vivids.
Is this a thing at every Sally's? When I started 3 of my coworkers quit because their hours went to 20 or less. Now that I helped my manager find replacements for all 3 people, ive been pushed to the back of the line to get hours. In the short time ive been at Sally's ive been promoted to color consultant and closer, so you'd think id get more hours but no. The new hires that I HELPED GET HIRED are taking ALL of my hours. I used to work 38 a week and now im lucky to get 20. What do I do?
i got termed from sally’s back in december and while i love this shampoo i do not wanna give them my money and i finally ran out so does anyone have a good dupe
Welp, only 105 days til October 31st. Get ready for another year of people calling the store on Halloween, or literally the day before, asking if we sell fake blood, colored contacts, or face paint. For anyone who’d like to know in advance, no, we don’t carry any of those.
i plan to dye my hair a copper color and i am looking for bleach from sally’s that would give me minimal damage please help :(
Hi guys, So I've been working at Sally Beauty for a few months, and turns out I really don't like it. The corporate structure of things is really weighing me down. My boss is a whole other story I don't want to get into.
Anyway, I received a call last week about an offer to work at CosmoProf, would it be better? Has anyone here worked there before? I know Cosmo is a sister store owned by Sally LLC. I am looking for new work, but honestly don't wanna put myself through the hiring process again if it's just gonna be the same exact thing as Sally's. any help would be appreciated. thank you!
