The one change that Silver needs to be fair and less annoying in my opinion

I'm gonna make it clear first, I'm a Silver main. I think the nerfs she got were deserved to an extent but a bit overblown. The heal on kill removal was a bit much but fair but i think making a character who's power budget is entirely put into their ultimate then nerfing it so she's now basically never able to use it much feels a bit extra? i think most complaints is that in lane in Silver's ult is too strong and i agree, making it so early game she can't just W+M1 towards you and later she has to upgrade it to get it back to the old cooldown. Atleast that's what i think would help without just completely reworking her which sadly might be needed with how badly they've balanced her being a server admin or mid as hell
Feedback welcome!

Theoretical rework for silver

I want to start this off by saying that i believe that silver is technically balanced right now and doesn't technically need any changes atm due to being unfair to play against, but i do think that she has lost her identity as transforming werewolf that you need to respect at any point of a game and has instead turned into an early to midgame merchant where if you can't secure a lead you slowly bleed to death and that is just not fun to play. This little rework is just a fun thought experiment that i had that brings the playstyle that i enjoyed back without making a balance nightmare in pro. I would love to hear any constructive criticism about any of these changes because I am incredibly biased and these may be over-tuned and I didn't bat an eye about it so please do let me know!

To start off I would lower silvers base gun damage from 5.1 per pellet to 3.63 which will lower her dps by about 29%. Then I would also make her fall off go from 20m-46m to 20m-36m. Too offset early game nerf giving her an increase of 30 base hp just to help her survive her weaker(?) laning phase. Of course increasing her gun scaling per boon is a given and i was thinking from 0.117 per boon to 0.203 per boon, this way gun damage is buffed past boon 17 which i think is a fair point as to when silver should be able to start doing something. as for her lycan claws, i don't know how the damage scaling on it works so i cant give exact numbers but just say its also nerfed before boon 17 then it's stronger after.

Next up, slam fire and go for the throat. Slam fire is simple, i would change the 1st and second ap again, 1st ap is now -10 cooldown and 2nd ap is now +25% gun damage bonus, i would also make it so that you can only hold slam fire for 3 seconds instead of 5. Now for Go for the throat, I would first off change its base damage from 75 to 50 and the base missing health damage from 6% to 4.5% but increase the melee scaling from 1.5 to 1.8. for the aps first ap would go from +30 to +25 damage 2nd ap from +25% life steal to +20% life steal and -1.5 second cooldown, then finally 3rd ap would go from +4% missing health to +5.5% missing health.

Now its time for boot kick and mauling leap. if im going to be honest i think both these abilities are fine as is, i'd just change the tier 3 to boot kick so that when the mark is PROCCED then the damage penalty is applied not when hit the kick.

Now for real this time bola and tail whack. Bola itself i think is perfectly fine and doesn't need any change and tail whack is the problem. First off remove disarm from base kit and change the first ap on tail whack from +25 damage to -25% movement speed, then for the 2nd ap change it from -40% ms to now disarms targets hit and increases spirit scaling (1.5-2), and keep the 3rd ap the same

And finally it's the ability that makes it all work, Lycan Curse

first of all reduce the time in wolf from 15 seconds to 10 at base and decrease the spirit and bullet resist of wolfs first ap by 5 (15% from 20) then for the second go from +4 m/s Move Speed and 200 Bonus Health and add -20 seconds cooldown, and for the final ap change it from On Hero Kill: Refresh abilities and duration, change it to heal for 20% missing hp when a hero dies within 3 seconds of damaging them, increased to 35% if it is a final blow and refresh ultimate duration, +2.5 second ult duration.

I am no game designer and what i just wrote down might've been some absolute bull, but i think this is a pretty good redesign for silver albeit probably overtuned i feel this may just be a numbers issue kit rather than a design issue kit, of course again i could be spouting some bull but i would like this reddit to critique anything that may be wrong with the kit and also feel free to ask me questions on why i made some changes because i am writing this at 5 am running on fumes because i had an epiphany on this so i didn't include my reasoning for most of the changes TT

Express shoot

I love express shoot for human form, the amount of damage it dishes out with slam fire is incredible. But in wolf form it's practically dead item other than just giving wpn damage from investment. And it helps me trigger wolf form much more consistently, yet it's always irking me that I could have something better to be useful during wolf form.

Any advice? I also almost always build close range and heavy weight as well for the actual wpn damage increase.

So let me get this straight

The character was nerfed purely because of pro play because, let’s be real, no one on ladder was actually fighting an OP Silver because her winrates on ladder were average, only above average in Eternus (51% iirc).

The nerfs struck her hard, and now over the past 14 days, she’s had the lowest winrate in All Ranks, genuinely competes with Sinclair for lowest winrate in every individual rank up to Ascendant, only barely getting 3rd worst in a few ranks, and only sits at a somewhat reasonable winrate (48.01%, so still 29th place on a roster of 38) in Eternus along with a moderate Pick/Ban rate in DLNS.

…and I’m supposed to sit happy and sing along with everyone that this makes my favorite character balanced? That I’m supposed to be happy that in the game I and most others play that my character lands anywhere from total garbage to a little less garbage because she’s now finally balanced in the gamemode a grand total of like 40 people play every Wednesday that is structured vastly differently to the game I play? That I’m entitled or boosted if I point out that her new metrics point to this nerf being an overcorrection?

Fuck that. Trickle-down balancing is bullshit and does not work when the people being balanced around are playing a game structured so differently to the game I’m playing (pick phases, ban phases, snake draft, constant comms, pre-determined line order).

I don’t know about y’all but a game needing to keep a character shit on ladder so that they’re just okay in comp screams to me that the character design has failed massively and I really don’t like that in the long list of changes that Yoshi has seemingly decided that Silver’s current spot is perfectly reasonable. That old set of data pre-changes was a sign she needed a rework or a rebalance, not a nerf.

Why is silver an assasin??

Why did yoshi make silver an assasin?? Why is her base form so good?? I played silver to play her as a tank but without her sustain is she even a hybrid anymore? Id honestly prefer if they nerfed her base form and gave her ult some sustain again. Afterall im here to get pegged by the wolf not silver.

What do you think about Spirit Silver?

I know, it sounds weird, but she has decent scaling on 2 and 3. I tried it in a couple of games and it was pretty good— it has more burst damage than gun silver (but lacking m1 damage obviously)

Silver Is Not a Hard/Meta Hero She's Just Good in Pro Play

My main point is that Silver either needs buffs to her tier 3 upgrades (like adding back heal on kill) or a rework if they want her to be balanced in pro and a ranked environment. Game feel was a big reason for the silver nerfs, which I understand, but I think she needs some compensatory buffs that make her stronger in ranked without people complaining she's oppressive to play against.

Many people have pointed out that Silver's win rate was low, and because of that, she didn't need a nerf. But, win rate is not the best marker for how strong a hero is. Sometimes, a hero is picked by players who don't have much experience with it, and that lowers their win rate.

Statlocker has a page for this: It shows how much a character's win rate improves as people master them. Silver does have one of the highest jumps for the first 50 games, but after that, she plateaus. And for one tricks, she actually has one of the lowest win rate jumps out of the entire cast.

These statistics show that she might be unintuitive for a newbie, but once you get the hang of her, she's not that hard. Her overall win rate sits at slightly above average for Eternus+ and in the bottom 6 for all ranks. She's still a meta-defining pick in pro play as well, albeit a little worse.

Because she doesn't have a high win-rate jump with mastery, it's safe to say her dominance in pro play is due to her inherent strength in a coordinated team environment and draft, not her difficulty. I don't think Valve should balance for esports when pros play with a different format than everyone else, and the esports scene is still in its infancy. Seven deserves more nerfs than Silver because he is inherently strong in ranked.

I know Silver isn't the main priority for buffs by any means, but I think this shows a philosophical issue with the game balance if they continue to nerf characters that are strong in pro play, but weak/balanced in ranked.

Pro-Jail will likely be our future…

Silver won 2 of the 3 games she was picked in during the most recent Night Shift, which proves that she’s definitely not dead but may now just be stuck in pro-jail.

I hope Yoshi can find a way of balancing her across all elos but it’s looking less and less likely…

How are we doing Silver bros?

With Silver now sitting at the bottom 3 heroes in the game, I just wanted to get a pulse out of this sub and see how we are fairing. Do you feel the stats reflect reality or is Silver still strong enough to compete in phantom+?
