What do you think Metal Sonic’s origins will be in Sonic 4?
Urge Paramount to cast Idina Menzel as Blaze the Cat

youtu.be💙 Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Metal Overdrive
For Sonic the Hedgehog 4, I’d put Amy Rose and Metal Sonic right at the center of the story, picking up directly from where Sonic the Hedgehog 3 left them. This would be the movie where Sonic finally meets someone who can genuinely match him—and eventually seems capable of replacing him. Metal Sonic wouldn’t just be another robot for Sonic to destroy, while Amy wouldn’t just be another member added to the team. Both characters would challenge Sonic in completely different ways. Metal forces him to question what actually makes him special, while Amy challenges his belief that he always has to face everything by running forward and figuring it out along the way.
🎬 Opening — Picking Up Immediately
The movie begins moments after the ending of Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Sonic has just been surrounded by an army of Metal Sonic robots when a mysterious pink hedgehog appears and destroys them with a giant hammer. Sonic stares at her and says, “Okay... pink hedgehog, giant hammer, just saved my life. Pretty normal Tuesday.” She simply replies, “Sonic.” His expression immediately changes. “...How do you know my name?” Amy doesn’t answer. Instead, she tells him they need to leave because those robots were only scouts. Before Sonic can ask what that means, something crashes into the ground behind them. One final machine rises from the smoke: red eyes, blue metallic body, jet engine and Sonic’s exact silhouette. This one feels completely different from the others. It scans Sonic before displaying a single message: TARGET IDENTIFIED: SONIC THE HEDGEHOG. Then it disappears.
🌹 Amy Rose
Amy would be energetic, emotional, optimistic and confident, but there would also be something mysterious about her. She has been travelling between worlds specifically looking for Sonic because she possesses a collection of ancient fortune cards that allow her to see fragments of possible futures. Months earlier, every future she saw ended the same way: Earth was destroyed, and Sonic was at the center of it fighting himself. Amy originally thought the visions meant Sonic would somehow become evil, but eventually she discovered the truth: the other Sonic was a machine. That’s why she came looking for him. Amy believes meeting Sonic was destiny, which Sonic absolutely hates hearing. “I make my own destiny,” he tells her. Amy casually replies, “That’s exactly what my cards said you’d say.” Sonic stares at her. “Okay, that’s creepy.”
🤖 Metal Sonic
Metal Sonic would be the movie’s main villain rather than a silent henchman, and his entire story would revolve around one question: what actually makes Sonic... Sonic? Metal was built using everything that could be collected about him: his speed, movements, combat data, quills, victories and even his mistakes. His purpose isn’t simply to kill Sonic. He was created to become a better version of him. His programming reduces his entire existence to two commands: SONIC IS INFERIOR. METAL SONIC IS PERFECTION. At first, Metal barely speaks and behaves like a cold machine following instructions. But every time he encounters Sonic and his friends, he watches them, studies them and learns. Slowly, something begins changing inside him.
🥚 Project Metal
Sonic, Tails and Knuckles naturally assume Robotnik created Metal, and when they investigate what remains of his technology, Tails discovers that Metal’s architecture matches Robotnik’s machines. But there’s an immediate problem: Metal was activated only after Robotnik disappeared. Tails eventually uncovers an encrypted program called PROJECT METAL, a contingency Robotnik created in case he ever permanently failed to defeat Sonic. The system was designed to study Sonic’s abilities and automatically construct something capable of surpassing him, but after Robotnik disappeared, the program continued operating and improving itself without anyone controlling it. It created dozens of Metal Sonic prototypes—the machines that surrounded Sonic—but each generation became more advanced until one prototype destroyed all the others. That survivor became the real Metal Sonic.
🦔 Team Sonic Has Changed
Team Sonic is larger now, but everyone has a clear role: Sonic brings speed, Tails intelligence, Knuckles strength, Shadow occasionally appears as a reluctant ally, and Amy brings heart. Tom and Maddie are still emotionally important to Sonic, even though the action increasingly belongs to Sonic and his friends. Amy quickly becomes comfortable around the Wachowskis, and Maddie likes her almost immediately. Tom also notices that Amy clearly admires Sonic. Tails notices too. Knuckles notices. Even Shadow notices. Somehow, Sonic is the only person who has absolutely no idea.
⚡ ACT I — Sonic vs Metal
Metal begins appearing at seemingly random locations and attacking Sonic, but Tails eventually realizes something strange: Metal isn’t actually trying to kill him. He’s studying him. Every encounter allows Metal to copy something new—Sonic’s spin dash, his combat techniques, his movement and eventually even small pieces of his personality. Their first proper race happens along a highway. Sonic starts off joking around because he assumes the outcome is obvious, but Metal keeps pace. Sonic accelerates. Metal accelerates. Sonic pushes harder. Metal suddenly passes him. For perhaps the first time, Sonic genuinely loses a race. Metal stops far ahead, turns around and finally speaks his first real words: “Too slow.” Sonic’s own insult is thrown back at him, and for once, Sonic doesn’t have a joke ready.
🌹 Amy vs Metal
Amy becomes fascinating to Metal because she constantly behaves in ways his calculations cannot predict. Sonic attacks directly, Knuckles uses strength, Tails relies on technology and Shadow uses Chaos powers, but Amy doesn’t follow a predictable pattern. Sometimes she fights, sometimes she talks, and sometimes she risks herself to save someone she barely knows. During one encounter, Amy manages to knock Metal down and has a clear opportunity to destroy him. Instead, she lowers her hammer. Metal looks at her and asks, “WHY?” Amy simply replies, “Because you stopped fighting.” Metal answers, “INEFFICIENT.” Amy shrugs. “Probably.” She smiles and walks away while Metal remains completely still, unable to understand what just happened. That tiny decision ends up mattering far more than Amy realizes.
💙 Sonic’s Insecurity
Metal eventually starts doing something much worse than beating Sonic: he starts replacing him. He saves civilians faster, stops crimes more efficiently and predicts disasters before Sonic even notices them. Videos spread online and people begin asking whether Metal Sonic is Earth’s newest hero. Sonic pretends the whole thing is hilarious, but Amy immediately sees through him. Sonic has spent years thinking of himself as the fastest thing alive, and suddenly there’s someone faster who doesn’t get tired, doesn’t become distracted and doesn’t make mistakes. Amy finally asks him, “If you’re not the fastest thing alive, who are you?” Sonic immediately answers, “Still incredibly handsome?” Amy laughs, then looks at him seriously. “Seriously.” Sonic goes quiet because he doesn’t actually know.
🖤 Shadow Understands Metal
Shadow would have a smaller but important role because, surprisingly, he understands Metal better than Sonic does. Sonic expects Shadow to hate him, but Shadow sees the similarity between them. Both were created or shaped to serve someone else’s purpose, and both were originally treated more like weapons than individuals. The difference is that Shadow eventually chose what he wanted his life to mean, while Metal has never been given that choice. Sonic keeps describing Metal as nothing more than a machine until Shadow finally tells him, “You’re trying to understand him like he’s a machine.” Sonic replies, “He IS a machine.” Shadow simply asks, “So?” That question stays with Sonic and begins changing the way he sees Metal.
💀 ACT II — Neo Metal Sonic
Metal eventually gains access to Robotnik’s remaining global network and absorbs everything it contains about Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, the Master Emerald and Chaos energy. His programming tells him to become the ultimate lifeform capable of defeating Sonic, but after studying Sonic’s victories, Metal reaches an unexpected conclusion: Sonic’s greatest strength isn’t actually his speed. Sonic repeatedly survives impossible situations because he adapts through the people around him. Metal decides that if Sonic becomes stronger through others, then he will do the same. He begins copying Knuckles’ strength, Tails’ technology, Shadow’s Chaos-energy signature and Amy’s combat patterns. His body transforms into something larger, sharper and more expressive, while his personality becomes increasingly arrogant. Neo Metal Sonic is born. He can finally speak normally, and disturbingly, his voice and attitude have started resembling Sonic’s. He looks directly at him and says, “You were the prototype. I’m the upgrade.”
💔 Amy’s Secret
Sonic eventually discovers that Amy hasn’t told him the whole truth about her visions. Her cards never showed Metal destroying Earth. They showed Sonic destroying Metal, and that action somehow caused the catastrophe. Every future where Sonic responds to Metal with anger ends the same way. Amy came to Earth not only to save Sonic, but to stop him from killing Metal. Sonic feels betrayed because Metal has repeatedly attacked them and nearly gotten his friends killed. Amy finally explains why she talks so much about destiny. “You asked me why I believe in destiny,” she says. “I don’t.” Sonic looks confused. Amy continues, “I believe people can change it.” That becomes the difference between them. Sonic believes in freedom—the ability to choose your own path. Amy believes in hope—the belief that even a terrible path can still be changed.
🔥 ACT III — Metal Madness
Neo Metal eventually reaches the Master Emerald, forcing Knuckles to defend it in a huge battle. Knuckles actually manages to overpower him at first, but Metal absorbs enough Chaos energy to transform again. Combining Robotnik’s technology with enormous amounts of Chaos energy, he becomes Metal Overlord, a gigantic mechanized dragon-like creature. At that moment, Amy’s visions begin coming true. Cities lose power, Chaos-energy storms spread across Earth and reality itself starts becoming unstable. Sonic realizes the catastrophe was never caused simply by Metal existing. It was caused by the enormous chain reaction created when Metal’s Chaos-powered body was destroyed.
💎 Super Sonic & Super Shadow
Sonic and Shadow use the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Sonic and Super Shadow and attack Metal Overlord together in a massive aerial battle. Tails and Knuckles work from below to destroy sections of Metal’s external armor while Amy fights her way toward the central reactor. Eventually, Sonic reaches Metal’s core and tears away the final layer of armor, leaving Metal back in his original form: damaged, barely functioning and completely helpless. Sonic raises his fist to finish him. Amy realizes this is the exact moment from her visions. Metal looks at Sonic and says, “DO IT.” Then he adds, “IF SONIC EXISTS... METAL MUST SURPASS SONIC.” Sonic finally understands what Shadow was trying to tell him. Robotnik didn’t just give Metal a mission; he gave him a prison. Sonic lowers his fist. “Then stop being me.” Metal looks confused. “...WHAT?” Sonic answers, “Be something else.”
🤖 Metal’s Choice
The Chaos reactor begins going critical, and Tails realizes somebody has to remain behind to manually shut it down or the resulting explosion will devastate Earth. Metal looks at Sonic, then at Amy, remembering the moment she chose not to destroy him. For the first time since his creation, Metal makes a decision that isn’t based on Robotnik’s programming or his obsession with surpassing Sonic. He flies directly into the reactor. Sonic realizes what he’s doing and tries to follow, but Metal throws him clear. Metal looks at Sonic one final time and says, “Sonic...” He pauses before adding, “You’re too slow.” For the first time, there’s the slightest hint of a smile on Metal’s face. The reactor collapses around him, and Amy’s catastrophic future is avoided.
🌅 Ending
Everyone believes Metal is dead. Later, Sonic and Amy sit together overlooking Green Hills, finally having a quiet moment after everything that happened. Amy asks, “So... still think destiny is stupid?” Sonic immediately answers, “Absolutely.” Amy smiles. “Good.” Sonic looks at her and asks if she’s staying on Earth. Amy replies, “Maybe.” Sonic grins. “Is that what the cards say?” Amy responds by throwing one directly at his forehead. Tom calls everyone inside for dinner, and Sonic immediately races home while Amy runs after him. She’s nowhere near as fast, so after getting far ahead, Sonic quietly slows down. Amy notices what he’s doing and smiles. Sonic pretends he has absolutely no idea what she’s smiling about.
🎬 Mid-Credit Scene
Deep underground, Metal’s destroyed head lies among the wreckage of the reactor. For several seconds, nothing happens. Then one red eye flickers back to life and the words SYSTEM REBOOTING... appear. Before Metal can react, a large mechanical hand reaches down and picks up his head. A massive robot steps out of the darkness, but only its silhouette is visible. Then a glowing Ω symbol appears across its body. E-123 OMEGA. The robot scans Metal’s damaged head before announcing, “TARGET ACQUIRED.” Cut to black.
🎬 Post-Credit Scene
Elsewhere, Shadow walks alone when he suddenly senses something strange. One of the Chaos Emeralds begins glowing as purple energy crackles through the room. Shadow slowly turns toward it. A distorted voice whispers, “Shadow...” Two red eyes appear in the darkness. Shadow’s expression immediately changes because he recognizes the voice. BLACK DOOM. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 5. The next story would shift the spotlight heavily toward Shadow, with Omega and Black Doom becoming central characters, while the mystery of what happened to Metal remains open for the future.
I really like the CGI for the Sonic movies, they remind me of the cgi cutscenes for most Sonic games, what do you think?
Will Sonic 4 start where 3 ended?
I was thinking about this and realized I don’t think there gonna have this scene be from the actual race they ended on but a different race or maybe something different in general.
Reasons I think this is one most people pointed out Sonic seems slightly older in this post credit scene way more cocky and confident more like game Sonic.
Also because it’s not the first time since in Sonic 1 the post credit scene had tails appear what looked liked right at the end of the film while it happend about a couple months after. And in Sonic 2 shadow was shown as like a hidden project underground and not in water but contained with cuffs.
So I don’t think it’s gonna be the exact same race but what do yall think
Can 4 Outdo 3?
So guesses then how are we gonna outdo the amazing Sonic 3 Ending in 4?
We got Super Sonic and Shadow Team Up
The Ark (Eclipse Cannon)
The Moon being partially destroyed
Live and Learn Playing during the transformation sequence and when Sonic and Shadow tackled the GUN Robots.
Robotnik sacrificing himself to save the Earth and saying a final farewell to Stone.
Sonic 4 has got alot of things to do to become the best ending currently
My prediction to the sonic 4 trailer...
I predict that it will release inbetween the days of October 1st and 31st and we will see amazing new characters. Those will be silver, amy, and metal sonic and neo metal sonic!
Sonic 4 trailer and the most important thing
Now for the last two movies Tom has given a speech that represents Sonic’s arc and the plot of the entire film and that is usally in the trailers. Now if they do that again that speech is a defining thing for the movie and what we could expect.
Example if for some reason Tom is talking about say idk a super important person in everyone’s life they meet or anything romance then that’s proof that Sonic and Amy’s relationship will be a important party in it.
Stuff like that you know I never realized until recently how on the nose those speeches to Sonic are.
If silver were to ever make it into these movies (I really doubt it but who knows) how would you want his story to be?
Is impossible but i desire this so much.
I know it's almost impossible and would be difficult to fit in, but I really wanted a fight between Perfect Chaos and Iblis in the movies! 😭
A pretty cute sandwich (Mera.art)
Large-scale marketing for Sonic Movie 4 will begin at Q3 2026 fiscal year, which starts in October
How do you guys think the SCU (Sonic Cinematic Universe) may end?
(EDITOR NOTE: I did not realise someone else made this type of post before I did. This was by pure accident, and I take no credit for it.)
Now, that sounds bad. I know the franchise is far from over, but this is just more of theories of what the ending to the franchise would be like.
I loved the franchise from when it first started, but being the overthinking trogladyte that I am, I tend to think about tropes that would possibly appear in each upcoming movie. I'm sure many of you have done the same. With all that said, I guess just post your theories here about the fourth movie or the entire franchise as a whole.
(This is NOT me saying I want yall to start posting some weird fanfics, keep it to yourself please.)
The one thing I hope we get in 4
If there's one thing I really hope we get in 4 is a proper race between Sonic and Metal like in CD.
I know people we're disappointed Sonic and Shadow didn't get the chance to do a proper race scene together, but I was fine with it cause the movie already had a lot going on.
But they NEED to do a race between Sonic and Metal. I can def see it being in the trailers as the main selling point.
