Why we NEED ShadAmy in Sonic 4(not a ship)

Why we NEED ShadAmy in Sonic 4(not a ship)

Now what do I mean by “ShadAmy”? I mean these too need significant interactions and a impactful dynamic with each other.

Amy is a very important character to Shadow in this franchise. When Shadow was at his lowest point it was Amy who redeemed him. I think Amy is so important to Shadow’s character because Amy represents compassion and love. Not only are those things Shadow could really use given his trauma, but those are the same traits Maria represented as well. And we all know just how much Maria means to Shadow

How I envision a ShadAmy interacting going is something similar to what happened in SA2 but more in-depth. If I were to guess Shadow will be very conflicted in Sonic 4 as he was just brought back to life. Maybe he’s conflicted about his purpose in the world after the events of Sonic 3, or he has suffered some sort of blow to his ego that causes him to become melancholic.
Amy, being the ray of sunshine she is, would be the one
to lift him out of that state. I think this would be particularly powerful with Movie Amy in particular because if I were to guess She would be going through similar thoughts herself. Maybe Amy isn’t quite confident in her abilities compared to Team Sonic and struggles with low Self-esteem. So Amy would be able to apply her experience to Shadow, showing her empathy and how much she has grown.

Another layer to such an interaction is Maria as she was also with Shadow during a critical emotional moment as shown in Sonic 3. And Like I said before, Amy and Maria are very similar. When Amy has her talk with Shadow in Sonic 4, Shadow could very well be reminded of that moment with Maria. Maybe Amy says something similar to what Maria said which triggers an emotional response from Shadow. Just like how Amy reminded Shadow of Maria in SA2

This would overall be a very powerful moment for both characters as Shadow would be getting the compassion he needs to further his character arc AND Amy would be showing off her strengths as a character and potentially further her character arc as well.

ShadAmy is a pivotal and underutilized dynamic in this franchise. We missed out on Amy x Shadow rep in Sonic 3 despite that film being based on SA2, the game that had the most impactful ShadAmy moment in this franchise. That’s ok though, because we have the perfect opportunity to make up for lost time with Sonic 4.

What do you guys think of Keanu Reeves as Shadow?

I’d say Keanu is a great guy but a mediocre actor a lot of the time. Despite this Shadow is actually one of his best performances, he actually manages to put a lot of emotion into Shadow. It’s rare Keanu is able to put so much emotion into his voice so this is almost an anomaly in his filmography. This is probably due to Shadow as a character lending itself well to Keanus natural speaking voice, Keanus great work ethic and the amazing voice direction.

My favorite Keanu lines from Sonic 3:

“You jumped out of a G.U.N helicopter, there’s nothing to talk about”

“ I don’t know what I’d do without you”

“I’ve spent 50 years reliving what they did to her, this is who I am inside”

“Now you know my anger, the pain I’ve felt for 50 YEARS”

“The pain. It’s too much”

Revised Sonic 5 and 6 logos

Made a version of these for another post but needed to tweak them so that they looked better

Things I changed:

made the “Sonic The Hedgehog” text transparent as it created an unintended black outline that wasn’t very appealing

Gave Sonic 6 an entirely new background as the one I used before looked kinda ugly

How I would conclude the Sonic Movies

This is my idea of how the Sonic movies should end and how a second trilogy would look like

For 1, each film in this sequel trilogy should lead directly into each other.
The first three had to build this universe’s foundation, so it was fine that each film was self contained. But now that all that’s established the next three films needs to have a coherent evolving plot to keep things interesting and set up a satisfying finale

But what could that plot be? Well here’s my pitch. The theme of the first trilogy was HUMBLE BEGINNINGS. The theme of the next trilogy should be SHATTERED REALITY
We know Time Travel is the plot of Sonic 4, so why not explore the consequences of that? I’m thinking by the end of Sonic 4 Time will be thoroughly screwed beyond repair, things by the end of Sonic 4 may seem fine but the Time Travel shenanigans have permanently scarred reality. Slowly but surely Sonic’s Universe is now dying because of the events of Sonic 4

That’s where Sonic 5 and 6 pick up. A Time Traveling Hedgehog named Silver, determined to fix Reality is introduced as the newcomer of Sonic 5 and 6 as Sonic 6 won’t introduce any more new main characters being the finale. A character that will directly confront Sonic for breaking the universe is a really interesting way to show the consequences of Sonic’s actions against Time.

I imagine Sonic 5 and 6 will be a space sprawling adventure, Sonic and friends finally explore the cosmos and visit more game locations and characters. This would a great way to get the audience attached to the wider Sonic Movie Universe as we’ve mainly only seen Earth, which is important as this time the entire Universe is at stake so we need to care about this Universe. it also leaves room for more niche locations, characters and references to make their big screen debut without the commitment of making an entire film based on Sonic Colors, Sonic Lost World or Sonic Riders. We could also revisit Sonic’s old home to bring this series of films full circle.
I wouldn’t want to leave Earth behind completely though as it’s been the anchor of this film series, so that is why I would have Team Dark serve as the Earthbound storyline. A more grounded story focused on Team Dark to contrast the massive space adventure the rest of the cast will go on.
And Silver would be our anchor point, alternating between traveling the cosmos with Team Sonic and doing Earth missions with Team Dark. Silver would be our POV character, seeing first hand the destruction events of previous films have caused and getting to contribute to all sides of this massive story

We need to complete the lore of the Sonic Movies in this final set of films. We gotta learn more about the Chaos Emeralds and where they came from. It would be nice to learn more about the Echidnas and Owl clans as well. Perhaps we could learn that Angel Island is the birthplace of the Chaos Emeralds in this universe, that would be a cool way to introduce Angel Island to these films

We need a villain, someone to facilitate the stakes. And MEPHILES is the perfect choice. He is a very different kind of villain, he hides in the shadows and manipulates events behind the scenes. I think that is a really unique take on a villain for the Sonic movies that we have not seen before. Perhaps Mephiles is a primordial being of destruction that is locked in some kind of cosmic prison, before one of the Space Time rifts let him free. That would be a great way to tie him to the events of Sonic 4 as the Time Rifts opened by Sonic and Robotnik causes his escape, but that’s just one way they could do Mephiles. He would be bent on destroying the universe and intends to speed up the decaying process caused by the Space Time rifts to do so.

As Sonic 5 progresses, we would see reality start to crumble. Massive Space Time rifts forming in the sky, deviating Earth Quakes. Before by the end of Sonic 5 things look as bad as ever, Mephiles wins and Space Time is screwed. Maybe he even kills Sonic.
Sonic 6 would be a final race to save the universe where all our characters are together after spending the majority of Sonic 5 separated. concluding with the Iconic Silver, Sonic, and Shadow vs Solaris fight. I would go one step further and have this be the first time in the Sonic movies that Amy, Tails, and Knuckles go super for the ultimate Super Showdown to save reality.
After defeating Solaris the Universe is still decaying. Everything and everyone is dying, there is nothing they can do.
Well, there is one thing they can do. Together, every one of the main characters in the Sonic Movies combine their Super Chaos Energy to perform the largest Chaos Control ever and recreate the universe from scratch exactly how it was. A massive feat that not even the games have ever done(though I hear the Archie Comics have done something similar)

After all is said and done, it’s time to wraps things up for good for the Sonic Movies. Here’s how I imagine each characters story would end:

Team Dark- remains on Earth as its trusted protectors in Team Sonic’s absence

Tails-returns to his home planet and uses his intelligence to make life better for his people

Knuckles-stays in Angel Island, the birthplace of the Chaos Emeralds, to make sure the Emeralds never fall into the wrong hands again

Silver-ceases to exist because of the Timeline being restored. Though Silver is happy about this as it means his mission is complete

Amy and Sonic-leave Earth to be intergalactic Nomads. Traveling Planet to Planet, helping anyone they can, and living free as the wind

Eggman-uses his inventions to better the world with Agent Stone, Remains a villain for Team Dark to deal with, Or dies for real

Tom and Maddie-enjoy the quiet life on Earth. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy visit with Warp Rings for holidays

Aaaaand yeah, that’s how I would end the Sonic Movies. I’ve had this idea for a good while so it’s about time I put it into text.

P.S: the Sonic 5 and 6 logos are self-made

Why we NEED Shadow vs Metal Sonic

I think Metal Sonic and Shadow have a very interesting dynamic and seeing them throw down would be very cool for both characters

For Shadow it would show that he is not invincible. In Sonic 3 Shadow was pretty much the pinnacle of power, he could beat Team Sonic all at once. When Super Sonic yeeted him off the Eclipse Cannon he didn’t even flinch, this shows he is pretty cocky of his own abilities. So I can see Shadow throwing himself into Metal Sonic with no doubt the fight will be over quickly.
BUT, Metal is different. Metal is a cold calculating machine who thinks far faster than any organic being and does not get tired. The fight would start off even with Metal and Shadow going blow for blow. but the longer the fight goes Shadow starts getting winded while Metal Sonic doesn’t let up, before Shadow slips up and allows and opening for Metal Sonic to win the battle.
This would severely harm Shadows ego, this is the first time he’s suffered a loss like this and his title as the ULTIMATE LIFEFORM is truly challenged. This would be a great humbling situation for Shadow and kickstart an Arc about learning to rely more on others.

It’s pretty fitting for Metal Sonic as he’s always trying to prove himself . If Metal Sonic challenges Sonic’s speed then He Challenges Shadows combat. Plus it would make the audience feel like Metal Sonic is a true threat by having him defeat the strongest pre-established character.

So a lot of people didn’t liked this, which is perfectly valid. BUT I feel like we gotta balance things out a bit. So people who DID like it, use this post to “defend” this scene

How I think the Climax of Sonic 4 will go

On a recent post I asked you guys what you think the final battle of Sonic 4 will be, now it’s my turn

So I think this is how it will go down.
Sonic, Shadow, Tails, Knuckles and Amy confront emperor Eggman, only for it to be revealed that emperor Eggman is a FAKE. A robot created by Metal Sonic. Metal then steals the last chaos emerald from Sonic and crew to turn into Neo Metal Sonic and Chaos controls the entire Eggman army to the present to wreck havoc

This is the “all seems lost moment” where everyone is at their lowest as they’ve seemingly doomed the present with no way back. Amy and Sonic have a heart to heart about expectations and being yourself and reunite with the group to come up with a plan. Shadow is initially distant but is convinced by Amy to help(a nice reference to SA2).

Together they come up with a plan. chaos energy is what allows time travel, so theoretically if they all built up enough of their own chaos energy they could open up a wormhole through time. How do you build up enough chaos energy, RUN.

So Sonic, Amy, Shadow, Tails and Knuckles all prepare themselves before sprinting as fast as they all possibly can, going incomprehensibly fast. Before they cause a SONIC BOOM, ripping the fabric of space and time(I think this would be a nice full circle moment from baseball scene from the first film as well as a neat reference to how Time Travel works in Sonic CD)

Neo Metal Attacks present New York, believing his victory is assured. Before suddenly a small wormhole opens up, a bright multicolored flash hits the ground causing a massive Chaos explosion. Sonic and his crew have come to save the day against Neo Metals forces, a great opportunity to show Sonic’s leadership skills. The army is huge and the odds seem impossible, but Sonic and his friends mange to fight through it(have some mass produced Death Egg Robos from Sonic forces to up the stakes). So basically a battle against a massive army in New York, Avengers style

They eventually make their way to Neo Metal, Sonic and Amy are the first to confront him. They try to reason with Neo but he is too far gone, so a brawl ensues. Neo is far more powerful so Sonic and crew have to use their Witt’s and teamwork to keep him at bay.

Neo gets desperate and uses their Chaos emeralds to Combine with the Metal Army and turns into METAL OVERLORD.
How do they beat him? Well I got a couple Ideas. Maybe Super Sonic has to build up enough energy to do a charged attack and the others have to distract him or they do a synchronized Chaos attack. I don’t want to go full Heroes with the entire team going Super tho, feel like that would oversaturate the Super Forms and wouldn’t leave much room for future entries to go bigger. It would be cool if we had a reference to CD with sparkles falling from the sky from Neo’s explosion.

And Neo is defeated, Amy joins Team Sonic and Shadow goes on his own to have a spinoff. That’s how I think the Climax of Sonic 4 is gonna go down more or less

How To make the OST for Sonic Movie 4 FANTASTIC

So, one of the main complaints of the Sonic movies is their OSTs. Many are frustrated that they just don’t use enough music from the games and having relatively uninteresting Music. I completely agree, so here are my thoughts on what approach Sonic 4 should take to give these films a more unique sound

1
Tom Holkenborg should come back, just getting that one out the way right now. I know people blame Tom for the OSTs of the films being, let’s say basic. But I think that line of thinking is misguided.
You see, Tom does not have complete control over how these films sound. He has higherups that tell him what to and not to do. The reason Sonic 1 and 2 had generic scores is because that’s what his higherups told him to produce. Notice in Sonic 3 has more game music and certain tracks were even tweaked between the released score and film score to make the Game Motifs more prominent, that’s because he was actively told to do so. So if he were told to add even more game music he’d do it, and I’d argue he’d do it well.
At the end of the day, how these films sound comes down to what the director wants for their film, it just so happens that what they wanted for Sonic 1 and 2 was basic. That’s not Toms fault. People seem to think Tom has a personal distaste for Sonic music when that just isn’t true. He may be ignorant to certain musical cues impact on the franchise, but that’s what directors and producers are for, that’s why Tyson Hesse worked with Tom on the OST of Sonic 3. This kinda thing is a team effort no matter what, it’s not like removing Tom will inherently make the OSTs better.

Also, Tom is a fantastic composer in his own right. Seriously, listen to his OSTs for Deadpool, Scoob!, Mad Max, Alita: Battle Angel, Zach Snyders Justice League. Not to mention OSTs he helped collaborate on like Amazing Spider Man 2 and Batman vs Superman. Tom has a signature chaotic and often unconventional vibe to his music that delves into multiple musical styles like Techno, Hip Hop, Funk, orchestral. I don’t know about you but that sounds like the perfect recipe for a great Sonic OST

It’s not like the films music will suck if Tom isn’t in it. But I think bringing him on with an improved direction would be very beneficial in helping Sonic 4 sound unique while remaining cohesive with what the first 3 films did. I think Tom returning would provide an interesting opportunity to evolve and take into account from his previous experience with this franchise.

2
Motifs and variety, those are the secret ingredients. When I say Motifs I mean Motifs from the games, ya know like Live and Learn. Tom did an interesting thing by making Live and Learn Shadows leitmotif in Sonic 3. Basically take that approach and amplify it, give different characters and locations Leitmotifs that are melodys that are often associated with them in the games. It gives a nice sense of familiarity

But we don’t just need familiarity, we need evolution. That’s where ✨VARIETY✨ comes in. Don’t just pull these motifs as they are, that’s boring. We’ve been listening to these songs as they are for years, you gotta bring something new to the table. Remix these iconic tracks, morph them into something new. Think of how they used John Williams Superman Theme in James Gunns Superman film, it was remixed into something new, and yet at the same time familiar. THATS the balance we got strike here. Tom has shown he already knows how to do this with how he used the Live and Learn Motif in Sonic 3, one moment it’s grand and orchestral and the next it’s menacing and synthetic.

And also, just have more sounds in the film in general, explore differing music genres and vibes. In fact, attach each character and location to a different genre of music. Metal Sonic would be Techno, Amy could be upbeat rock, Shadow can be grunge. And you could take iconic Motifs from the games and remix them into those different genres. It would greatly help each character feel unique, like once you start hearing menacing synths you know Metal Sonic is near. I love it when a song is remixed into a completely different genre of music and the Sonic movies have the perfect opportunity to do that with some of the most Iconic tracks in this franchise. that association would be greatly beneficial for musical storytelling, helping the OST stand out AND scratch that Sonic music itch.

One of my main grips with Sonic 1 and 2s OSTs is how uniform they are, it’s all Orchestral and it makes the Motifs and Leitmotifs blend in with each other. Like, I bet you didn’t know the Master Emerald had a Leitmotif in Sonic 2. And the reason for that is that the Master Emerald Motif uses the same Orchestral music and tone that the rest of the film does, so it completely blends in. That’s why it’s so important to be using different Musical tones and Genres with each Motif.

3
This is my personal wishlist of what pre-existing Sonic Tracks should be in the movie and how they should be used.

STARDUST SPEEDWAY.
But NOT as the Metal Sonic theme as its most often used, but as the theme of New York City. In Sonic 4 Sonic will likely be going to New York City as he was in New York State in the Sonic 3 post credits. So it would be perfect if Stardust Speedway was used as the theme of New York City and its bad future as Stardust Speedway in Sonic CD is pretty much a Eggmanified New York already.

Have a calm and chill remix of Stardust Speedway play when they are in present New York like Stardust SpeedWay Act 1 from Sonic Mania. And when they go to the bad future New York where Eggman has taken over you play a more high energy version of Stardust Speedway more reminiscent of the Original track

METALLIC MADNESS.
THIS should Metal Sonic’s theme. It captures the menacing and robotic vibe of the character so well.

LIVE AND LEARN.
I want them to keep using this as Shadows theme, it sounds so good and it’s already so heavily associated with this version of the character because of Sonic 3

MY SWEET PASSION
This is THE Amy theme, no other track comes close to being as associated with her as My Sweet Passion does.

Now this is a personal thing, but if I were doing the OST I would remix My Sweet Passion from being funk to Upbeat Punk Rock to match her energetic personality. Think “The Emptiness Machine” by Linkin Park, I think that vibe suits Amy very well.

SONIC BOOM.
This should be this films Avengers theme. By that I mean it should be the theme that plays when Sonic and his Team do something heroic together, like how The Avengers theme plays when The Avengers do their iconic stand against the aliens attacking New York of their epic team up in Endgame.
Imagine a scene where all seems lost, dramatic dire music playing in the background. Before the iconic melody from Sonic Boom starts playing and Team Sonic kicks ass as a full Orchestral Rock version of Sonic Boom kicks in. I’m getting excited just thinking about it.

COSMIC ETERNITY
This should be an ending track for them film like how it was used in Sonic CD. Cosmic Eternity has such an emotional vibe to it and its lyrics perfectly captures the main themes of Sonic CD “if you gotta do something, believe in yourself”. Even if it doesn’t have lyrics the song is just so emotional, it’s essentially to Sonic CD what the track “Final Scene” is to SA2. And it would fit say, the ending to a feature film perfectly. Especially when paired with a grand emotional moment in the film

4
Sonic Music has some of the most musical variety of any singular franchise, there is SO MUCH to pull from its ridiculous. And I personally think the films should be doing a much better job at representing that. Sonic 3 was better, but it still feels as though there is this limitless musical potential with this franchise that we just haven’t lived up to yet.

It seems with Sonic 4 they are adopting a “Bigger and Better than ever before” approach, I just hope that mentality extends to the music.

What do you think the final battle of Sonic 4 will be?

You know, we don’t actually know what the climax of Sonic 4 will be. With Sonic 3 we knew it was going to end with a Super Hedgehog team up. But with Sonic 4 we don’t really have as concrete of an idea. So I am very curious what you guys think it will end up being

u/Acrobatic_Banana_447 — 15 days ago

Thank you

So, the Amazing digital Circus just ended. It’s been a wild ride. There really isn’t anything like TADC. It was funny, tragic, wacky, surreal, messy. And it was beautiful. The Characters, the Writing, that animation and Music(oh my god the music) all contribute to this series having such a unique identity that I can’t help but be in love with.

I’ve been with this series since the Pilot and seeing how it play out over the course of 3 years was incredible. I am extremely grateful for all the hard work that went into making something like this possible, especially Gooseworks. An Im not the only one as this series has made an impact on thousands around the globe, to the point where TADCs finale had a successful theatrical release, that’s genuinely heartwarming.

I am also grateful for this series giving me something to bond with my younger sisters with. We rarely ever share our interests or talk about our interests with each other. But me and them could talk about and watch TADC together with no issue, it’s really nice to have something we all can bond over given how different the three of us are. We all love TADC so much that the three of us all went to see the finale in our local theater.

Seeing episode 9 in a theater was surreal. I love episode 9, the atmosphere in that final episode is so powerful thanks to the fantastic directing and music. And seeing it in a big screen made it so I could really feel it, it let me be completely immersed in the show in a way that watching it at home just couldn’t do. I’m confident in saying that was the best theater going experience I had ever had, it was an experience that’ll never leave me.

What I love about the show is its main theme, How do you find meaning in a stagnant life. In The people you impact, the people that impact you. Your friends, your family, strangers, your true self. It’s our connections that help us thrive, even in our darkest moments. It’s our connections with others and ourselves that gives meaning, even in a stagnant life. That’s what The Amazing Digital Circus taught me, and it will always be there when I need a reminder

I love TADC so much. It’s not perfect, not at all. But despite its flaws it still manages to be such a powerful experience, one that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

I’m curious. What do you think of Shadow in Sonic 4? What would you do with him? What do you hope to see from him? Would you have even had him in the film in the first place, why or why not?

Not enough people talk about how beautiful the ending to Skapnik Island was

Genuinely one of the top moments in this entire franchise

P.S: I misspelled Skrapnik but I don’t feel like reposting this and you know what I ment
