Making Friends at CTC?

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this—

I see a lot of business resource groups and even some clubs on the Hub. I joined a few BRGs (I won’t list which due to identifying demographic info), but none of the ones I joined seem to be very active.

My team at work is pretty small and I haven’t really made a connection with any of them, so I was hoping to make friends with others who work at CTC

How are you all finding people with common interests to be friends with at work or eat lunch with?

Am I looking in the wrong places? 😅 Thank you

What to wear to an interview?

I have an in person interview for a production supervisor position next week. I’m a bit older, and was taught that you should always wear a suit and tie to an interview (literally did when I interviewed at a Blockbuster Video store when I was in high school and the store manager said it’s part of why he hired me).

Should I wear a full suit and tie? Should I ditch the tie and just wear a suit and nice shirt? Suit and a polo? Polo and khakis?

Any insight into level promotion rates?

I hired in directly as a 93 a few years ago. I have 8 YOE, currently at $121k. What is the expected increase when going from a 93 to a 94? I would be moving departments (Mfg to Eng).

I know of mid-levels who have gotten 15% for a promotion, so my thought would be an actual band level increase would be a lot more?

Any ideas? TIA.

Stellantis sees 3 workplace deaths in two years. Is there a problem?

Paywall summary - if you get paywall: Adams is one of three U.S. Stellantis employees killed in industrial accidents within the last two years — an unusual spate of fatalities for any Detroit automaker in the past decade.

How long will it take to fix the software glitch on 850,000 vehicles that been recalled?

Just curious to know how long it would take for the team to fix it. As well as the cost. Is it going to be a simple software update to fix all the problems?

Personal day and sick days for NBU

Does anyone know how many personal days and sick days we have in NA for salaried NBU? I asked HR but never got an answer. If we take personal days, do we log it as vacation or lost time in the resource planning system?

Offer Negotiation

I received an offer for a white collar salary position at Stellantis. The offer was at the low end of my range. Has anyone had any luck negotiating a higher salary with HR and/or signing bonus to bridge the gap?

The offer is good, but o don’t want to leave money on the table and not maximize the one opportunity I have in regard to salary.

Vacation/bonus are non-negotiable per HR.

EDIT: Position is at Stellantis HQ in Auburn Hills MI

Open letter to Stellantis

I recently scanned the stock market for undervalued stocks and came across Stellantis. Its current valuation on the stock market is ridiculously low. However, after researching this for a while, I am very puzzled by Stellantis' stituation

I'd like to put my observations out in the open and hear your thoughts.

If this post and the following discussion prove to be interesting, I could do another one – more thorough and more insightful.

Carlos Tavares era is blamed for many self-inflicted problems and rightfully so. Stuff like:

  • (a) excessive layoffs and understaffed factories
  • (b) ignorance towards production defects (e.g. assembly lines were no longer paused to fix ongoing assembly issues)
  • (c) idiotic cost-saving (e.g. plastic liftgate on Grand Wagoneer. Madness.)
  • (d) dozens upon dozens of other issues

However, the current direction of the company also seems problematic.

I wanted to research and check how many class-leading car models Stellantis currently has on sale. Class-leading in terms of positive reviews or sales volume, like: Honda Civic, Mazda CX-30, Kia EV9, Tesla Model Y, BMW iX3, Mercedes E class, Renault 5, Lucid Gravity, VW Golf GTI and so on. Class leading car models do not guarantee financial or sales success, but it is a strong starting point.

Stellantis has so many car models across its 13 brands, so there should be plenty of class-leading car models. Which ones? Yea, about that. I could not find a single one.

In this context, I argue that an avalanche of new models is the wrong approach. Yet, that's exactly what Stellantis is doing:

  • it promised 50 updated models and 60 new models
  • it makes countless catchy slogans and plans. The worst offenders that I have seen are the idiotic "green" slogans for every brand
  • it poured tens of billions into EV development with no significant results to show for it
  • ...

There is a classic business joke that that is not far off – "We lose money on every sale, but we make it up in volume."

Fiat, Stellantis' best selling brand, sells fewer cars annually than Tesla Model Y. It's even worse when you rank Stellantis brands by sales volume and go down to the middle of the list. Dodge and Chrysler are in the middle of the list and they sell fewer cars across the entire brand than Volvo XC40/EX40. The XC40 is not even Volvo's best selling model. And Volvo is not a large automotive manufacturer.

It is sad to see the direction that Stellantis is currently taking. There is no doubt that Stellantis has large quantities of very competent people. It's a virtual certainty, given the number of employees. Stellantis certainly can make a class-leading car. And another one. And another one. I wish this is where the effort went. To make ONE undeniably class-leading car model. Not 50+60 new "averagely competitive" ones. Which seems to be the path Stellantis is currently walking.

I hope Stellantis shifts its focus toward creating a few truly class-leading models - and compensates the employees who build them accordingly. 🙏

Stellantis is drowning, bleeding, and burning. And pushing women out of the lifeboats

When the sun was shining, Stellantis couldn’t stop talking about diversity. A quarter of leadership seats were held by women in 2022, climbing to nearly a third by 2024, a number they loved putting in every press release, every glossy sustainability report. In 2023, for the first time, a woman took the CFO seat. A milestone. Or so we were led to believe.

Fast forward to today: the crisis hits, and suddenly the story changes. That CFO lasts less than eighteen months. She’s replaced by a man. He doesn’t last long either. Another man steps in. When the new CEO announced his handpicked leadership team in 2025, only two out of thirteen seats went to women. Two. The room that used to preach about “empowering women” now looks almost exactly like it did a decade ago, full of the same suits, the same deep voices, the same certainties that helped sink the ship in the first place.

And I have to ask, plainly: would we be this deep in the hole if more women were at the decision-making table? This isn’t wishful thinking, it isn’t empty talk. Study after study shows diverse leadership means sharper risk assessment, more balanced decisions, more resilient companies. So why, exactly when the company needs clear heads and different perspectives the most, is the circle of power shrinking back down to one gender?

This isn’t just a diversity failure. This is Stellantis shooting itself in the foot again. Drowning, bleeding, and burning, all at once. And the people who might actually help steer this ship back to the surface? They’re being shown the door, one by one.

Class-leading cars from Stellantis

Let's talk about class-leading cars in terms of reviews or sales numbers. The other day I tried to see how many class-leading cars Stellantis has. 13-14 automotive brands so there have to be many class-leading car models. Dozens, at least. Yet, I could not find a single one.

I am not here to pick on Stellantis. I am genuinely puzzled. A company of Stellantis size undoubtedly has more than enough resources and expertise. So why do Stellantis brands struggle to produce class-leading cars? Why is this happening?

Car and Driver has nice, clear and reliable "best in class" lists. We don't have to use "Car and Driver" lists, it's just that they are better than most. But it is the same story elsewhere. "Best compact cars" is a relatively long list and it features no Stellantis products. Not one. "Best Subcompact SUVs" has no Stellantis products either. Same story with "Best Electric 3-Row SUVs". Not a single Stellantis product is featured on the relatively long list. "Best Electric SUVs Under $60,000" as well. Not a single Stellantis product anywhere in sight. There are dozens of "best in class" lists and it is exceptionally rare to spot a Stellantis product. (edit: Stellantis has a class-leading truck, Ram 1500. This is one of the rare exceptions)

Same goes for brand and car model reliability lists. It is very rare to see Stellantis brands or products. Some carmakers even give 10 year warranty on their products (e.g. Mazda). In today's situation, 10 year warranty is probably unthinkable for any of Stellantis brands.

Why does an automotive conglomerate with so much resources and expertise struggle to produce class-leading vehicles?

Experiences working as a Warranty Area Manager at Stellantis?

There is a job posting in my area for a Warranty Area Manager with Stellantis. I’m currently a Warranty Administrator at a CDJR dealership and am considering applying for the Warranty Area Manager role.

Is there anyone in this sub who works or has worked in that position and can offer any feedback on how the experience was/if for you? What you liked and disliked about it? Important things to consider/be aware of?

Why was the Stellantis Supplier Matchmaker event canceled? Does anyone know? It was a bit sudden.

I received an email the supplier matchmaker event was canceled this year. There wasn't a reason for the cancelation. Hoping someone may have some information as to why. Thanks!
