“but why do rescues have to lie about breed/behavior/history so much? surely it doesn’t benefit anyone”

forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, but i see this question coming up a lot in the comments.

yall, its money. if you ever have trouble figuring out the motives of something that feels wrong, ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MONEY TRAIL.

these rescues do not care about saving dogs. hell, they don’t even care about being ambassadors of the breed or trying to help their reputation. none of that is the case here.

in every single one of these “urgent rescue posts,” you’ll see dozens of comments making “pledges.”

what are pledges? they are promises of donations if the dog ends up getting “saved” and granted freedom. they are not direct donations, but rather promises to donate if the rescue is able to get them out into a home/foster. if the dog is euthanized, the rescue will not be able to pocket any of the pledges.

THIS is why they fight tooth and nail to lie about breeds, cover up problematic behaviors, and bite histories. they have to make the dog seem as appealing as possible in order to increase its chances of being rescued, therefore putting money straight into the pockets of the rescues.

the entire thing is essentially one big fraud ring. and it’s even more horrific than your typical fraud, because it directly endangers lives. and continues the narrative that pitbulls are just innocent victims who need to be saved from their fates. but that’s not even what the rescues think. it’s the feelings of the bleeding heart activists and pitnutters who throw their money at these rescues that they take advantage of.

if you thought it was nefarious already, it always gets worse.

If I had to confirm I'm human for one of those Captcha things online, these dogs are what I'd check off if I had to identity all the boxes containing dogs that aren't Border Collies, Dalmatians or Huskies in the picture.

I really suck at those Captcha confirmations where you have to check all the boxes that contain a bus or motorcycle. The worst 😭

(the "Siberian Huskies" cracked me up tho)

Mixed with what, the dna of the cat it just ate?

Pet peeve. As a dog sitter professional, I wish potential clients would call their dog what it is. I can’t tell if they write only “mixed” because 1) They genuinely have no clue 2) the shelter listed it that way or 3) They know a lot of sitters won’t take pitbulls.

This dog is a shelter rescue from Texas who gave birth to a litter of puppies before being shipped to the Northwest. Tell me less about it being at least 75% pitbull.

Obvious Lab x Great Pyrenees mix here

Who doesn't want to hear a mysterious little chainsaw sound coming from the couch at night? 🥰

So, what kind of doggie do we think Otto is?

Can't decide if he's more Deebo (Friday) or Brad Pitt in 12 Monkeys...

Might have to go with Brad tho, coz this doggo definitely has some Pit in him, and would probably love to have some Pitt in him, depending on how big lunch was.
